Jonathan Banks is right. His character is better when presented as educated, in control, self aware. A gentlemen who believes in doing things right, even if he works for bad men. It's more menacing to be a self composed man of utility than a brash man with little self control.
What? His background is a cop. Cops are not educated and they don't have good grammar. The writers knew what they were doing - perhaps more so than the writers on pretty much any other TV show.
