To go thru high school and college with no injuries then get to the NBA and get hurt 1st year is crazy I hate injuries wish things could have worked out differently
The first yr, 3rd yr, 4th yr,5th yr, almost every yr after his 2nd ended with a injury. It’s crazy, it speaks on how physical the game actually is, or his body just gave up
It's a Chicago Simeon High School Curse. 3 of biggest what ifs in basketball history Ben Wilson , Derrick Rose , Jabari Parker all come from Chicago Simeon High School. I truly believe if Ben Wilson didn't get killed going into his Senior Year at Simeon he would've went on to Illinois lead them to National Titles , and be the #1 pick in NBA Draft and win NBA Titles as an NBA Teams Franchise Player. And be an NBA Hall Of Famer , Derrick Rose would've lead the Bulls to at least 1 Title for sure , And Rose would've been an alltime great and NBA Hall of Famer , Parker would've been an allstar every year and form an elite duo all these years with Giannis and he would've won Titles and be an NBA Hall Of Famer also. But curses are real..
Yup, especially in today's game. I don't think Gannis wanted to share, or was it management didn't see the potential like Toronto with T-Mac and VC? I don't follow them at all so fill me in.
@@thedailygreatness I’m going to go with management lost hope because of the series of injuries he dealt with, I would like to believe that Giannis would’ve been able to make it work with Jabari to form a formidable duo had he stayed healthy and developed
Nobody was calling him the next Lebron at the time of the draft. He drew some Melo and Paul Pierce comparisons but nobody compared him to Lebron going into the ‘14 draft
Wigg and Jabari were classed as generational talents when compared to the 03 class as the best since. Crazy how two “upside potential” project players became that instead.
Funny enough they both were similar to LeBron and Melo respectively. Wiggins being a super athlete with unlimited potential as a 2 way player like LeBron and Jabari being a big scoring forward with a variety of ways to get buckets like Melo
His injuries reminded me of Michael Redd, when he tore his ACL twice in the same knee in back to back years, while playing in Milwaukee after the Olympics in 2008. Michael Redd was never the same again after he returned in 2011.
I remember watching Jabari's pre-draft workouts thinking there is no possible way this isn't an NBA Allstar. Guy was in the best shape he's ever been. But, after the knee stuff catching up with him, he was never able to get back to that peak shape. Always looked chubby...really happy he's found a place overseas still playing high level basketball.
Jabari was definitely a beast. His injuries were a huge setback for him. But his unwillingness to trying to play defense was not a good look. Some say that his unwillingness to change his game is something too. They wanted him to be like a catch and shoot player that can play defense. He would have had a Carmelo type of career without his injuries.
He couldn’t adjust nor didn’t even want to. He never would’ve been the player to get you a championship either with a mindset like that… “They don’t pay players to play defense. There’s only two people historically that play defense…” what a bum. He barely even got buckets… Good riddance. BUST.

He's playing quite well in Barcelona. Unlike other former american NBA players, he understands the game. He's not all about athleticism, he has the fundamentals of basketball and that's what you really need to succeed in Europe. As an athletic guy that also had the same injury, doctors and orthopedic surgeons tell you to re learn how to walk and run in different way. You need to learn how to stay on your toes and not on your heel. I was told that you could literally hear Jabari running in a crowded gym because of how hard he would impact his heel.
