I also have this laptop and thru the years I have upgraded to 8 GB RAM, replaced its CPU with i7 (1st gen), replace WiFi module with 5Ghz 802.11 ac and replaced its HDD with SSD 2 TB…I love this machine, so well constructed and faithful! ❤

this laptops back then were made very well and not like now that everything is soldered on board and can't upgrade anything :/

I have same laptop.... Inspiron5010.... is it support PC3L 12800S RAM. But its by default RAM was PC3 10600S .... i ask it because when i put 12800s my lap not start. It just blink power button amd then suddenly off after 4 5 second later it blink and then offf.... Please suggest
exchange the ram places place the new one in the old slot and the old in the new,a nd power on and wait up to 15sec.
also it is recommended to have both SDRAM DDR3L

DDR3L (L = low voltage)
if you place a none L model it may work or it may not work, but to be in a safe side get the L version, its the same performance as none L, just more compatible.

you can place a 1600 or 1333 does not matter you won't know the difference on intel CPU
regarding the SSD i highly recommend as you will see a big big difference in performance

Regarding your question, yes you can i recommend to use 2 x8GB DDR3L , or 2x 4GB DDR3L.
sometimes when you have ddr4gb and if you place another ddr4gb it may not work unless you place ddr3L , L is for low voltage and it is very compatible with ddr

Regarding your question, no my friend unfortunately you can't place or upgrade to DDR4 rams, only takes DDR3L

I added 16gb (2x8) to this same laptop running Windows 10. It works great and Windows recognizes all 16gb. I wonder what's the TRUE max ram. Can I do 2x16? Has anyone tried?

@@uFixTek The command line check still says max is 8gb but it recognizes all 16gb and it clearly faster.
Right-click on "My Computer," then navigate to "Properties." Check if it displays: "16GB (usable 8GB)." Some laptops may detect 16GB, but only utilize the amount supported by the motherboard (8GB).

Regarding your question, yes you can, but i highly recommend you to keep a 2x4GB rather than 1x 8GB , if you have two 4GB that is faster than 1 x8gb because 2x4gb is a dual channel memory (faster) rather dan single channel 1x8GB (slower)

Dell N5010 can only take 4GB max per memory slot for a total 8gb.
i bought 2x Kingston 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 CL11 SODIMM KVR16LS11/4WP

then it has to be a mobo issue i just got one of this laptops last week and upgraded to 2x4gb and mem test 100% passed without any issues. try updating the BIOS.

I have already put it instead of the 1gb one , but it keeps on restarting over and over, and when it doesnt restart, it starts glitching when windows loading screen comes. I have already reset the bios settings to normal but nothing happened, what should i do?
the ram is defective and or this new ram is not working great along side the other old ram, so try this, remove the old ram and use the new ram and if with just the new ram you get the same issue then your problem is the new ram that is bad or you should get a different brand and the one we recommend for this model is this very solid and compatible, amzn.to/3KLM6y7

🫠Regarding your question, you can't upgrade the GPU or the CPU as they are soldered on the board, and the board is designed to deliver power to those exact CPU models.

don't upgrade, DO a fresh install of the windows, back up all your files documents to external drive. and create a windows 10 USB boot: ua-cam.com/video/uDu8j2lE-dM/v-deo.html
then power off the laptop and place the usb in the laptop and power on and keep tapping on F12 till you need a boot menu option and then choose the usb and follow the proper steps to get your windows installed under 10min:

ok, i try to keep it short and i hope you understand, the board is designed for the i3 specs that it comes on, but the socket its a "Socket G1 / rPGA988A"
technically this socket supports i5 and i7 here is the supported CPUs for this socket: is.gd/Dy7s0s
BUT the issue is not he socket now its the Heat sink and the power management that is not made for higher COPU, if you place a i5 or any you will get sudden crash over heat and even damage the motherboard, we have tried all this.
the only stable upgrade is that you can place a slightly better i3. but not worth the $$ for the extra none significant speed.
