Town and Country Hotel, miss the Old Style: San Diego Calif.

  • It's natural for resorts to update themselves to survive. Town and Country did that during the pandemic and before. But I remember the old style, before the snazzy, 'millennial' based changes. The 2 large high rises are still there, but the bungalows and other older rooms and restaurants are gone.
Before they had at least 4 pools. And the one near the lobby was quiet as it only serviced a few rooms.
But we preferred the West High Rise, with it's balcony facing the pool and activities, with the door facing the main parking lot, and the bridge that lead to the Fashion Valley Mall. What freedom we had as kids where we can walk ourselves to the mall! (Sadly at times, the river would take out the pedestrian bridge and it would be a long walk to get to the mall then.)
So, we had so many sweet memories at this hotel. We spent many trips based at this 'resort.' This hotel is part of Hotel Circle in San Diego which has many hotels on both sides of the freeway. It is super close to Old Town, Mission Bay, Balboa Park, and downtown San Diego. From certain parts of the high rise, we watched the fireworks (summer) from Sea World. San Diego is a great place to visit.
This video has only 'old' photos, but maybe like me, you want to keep these memories. Is this how you remember this place? (Crystal T's Emporium, Lanai Coffee Shop, tiny gift shop, Kelly's Steakhouse, the Gourmet Room)
Though things have changed there, I still recommend this resort. It has much going for it.
    Miss you Town and Country....

@@c_honda I may do that. As you indicated, it’s not that far away; I have driven down that way many times in my lifetime.

@@c_honda- yeah, my days of travel are pau, I'm lookin' into my Dads old hometown in Missouri to go to a small retirement type place with a family feel to it and it is more affordable than CA, maybe next Spring or the following Spring, I have cousins there, only thing is they get real weather there unlike N/CA 🌪️

@@GryBrn1 I wish you well in your decision. Most areas seem to have some natural disaster potential. I think of the weather, if you can handle the humidity or the cold weather
