Ryland you're not gonna need an alarm clock. Those babies are gonna be keeping you up all hours of the night.
Yeah you get so good at hopping up quickly and falling asleep quickly. Having an infant was the only time in my life I didn't have insomnia. I could lay down and be asleep in about 2 minutes.
Not all babies! My first I had to set an alarm because he would never wake himself to feed. The doctors had me keep a detailed diary of meals, times and dirty diapers to make sure he got enough cause all he did was sleep for 3 years practically. It sounds like "the dream" baby situation but it was stressful making sure all those numbers were square to keep my boy healthy 😂❤ 11 years later he is still such a hard sleeper, only because he sneaks VR time super late 😅
For both of my sons the nurses told me "oh you have to wake him to feed every 4 hours even at night" im sorry but screw that, if hes hungry he'll wake up. Both of my sons slept through the night pretty early on and get fed as soon as they wake up. I know they get fed enough so i think its pretty ridiculous to wake them up. My barely 3 month old baby is wearing 6-9 month clothing rn haha, he gets fed plenty, hes a little chunky boy.
I never knew when I was awake and when I was asleep. Sleep deprivation is no joke. Every 2 hours my baby would wake for the first 4 months
Actually late preterm babies don’t usually wake on their own for feeds, you often have to wake them up every 3 hours. I have a 37 weekrt and that was the case with her
20 weeks ALREADY?! WHAT?! Wow that’s wild lol I’m a stay at home homeschooling single mom to a 4 1/2 year old daughter. My only advice is, soak up every second and write down funny cute things they do or say! Time goes by sooo fast. I swear I just had my daughter yesterday! But I just know y’all are gonna be the best parents 💕🥰

Don't wait until last minute to get what else you guys need. Since twins usually have a very high probability of being born a month or two before their due date. So be prepared just in case that happens!

Things I’ve learned having just had my little guy two weeks ago ❤
1. You may need more newborn diapers than you think.
2. Dr. Browns bottles have really helped my little guy not get as much air while eating; which means less gas and a happier baby.
3. Clothes with the least amount of buttons are going to be your life saver in the middle of the night.
4. Read up on a baby’s natural sleep cycle and what active sleep and deep sleep look like. It has really helped my husband and I in the middle of the night to see if he needs to pick him up or not. I was jumping the gun and picking him up thinking he needed it; but that would wake him from active sleep and make him more tired and sad.
5. Have patience with yourself. You’re learning and so is baby. It’s all new for both of you.
You guys are going to be amazing but it’s so hard the first couple months but once you see their personalities bloom and all the baby smiles and giggles it makes everything worth it
Just had my son 3 months ago ( my first ) and I’ve been watching you and shane for so long :,) you liked a couple of my comments while I was pregnant and made me so happy, I’m so happy to see this journey for you guys grow more and more

You may need more newborn clothes than you think since twins are normally born earlier! I have twin nieces that were also due January 4, and they ended up being born on December 15! I just thought it was cool since they’re both twins and both had the same due date🥰 (edited to say they were both 5 lbs born at 37 weeks! So sometimes twins can be small even if carried to full term🫶🏼)

Ahhh my due date was January 4th and my baby came Dec. 16th! But he wasn’t a twin and still a very small baby but I agree twins are gonna need more newborn clothes ☺️

Okay, am I the only one that wants an adult version of those bassinets?! It would be nice to be tossing and turning... then suddenly White Noise happens and the bassinet rocks and helps you get back to sleep. I want an adult one!

Baby book every little thing!! I know times changed and everything has moved digital but do the baby book & photo albums I promise it’s so worth it!! ❤❤ the first year literally just plan to be obsessed bc they change and grow so fast the time goes so fast I know you’ll never want to miss a minute of this!! Half way there boys!! Yesss.😭😭 doesn’t even seem real but so exciting.
You will find that, when the babies are here, they make the same movements like you see in the ultrasound! Watch them sleep in the crib and you may see that! And, the love you feel for you baby gets stronger every day. So much that you feel like your heart will burst! I can’t wait for you guys to feel that unconditional love. It’s stronger than the love for your dogs. 😂 seriously, can’t wait! 😊

It goes so quickly the first 12 weeks. My baby is six month this week and wow am I so excited for you. In the hard moments at the beginning remember by the third month they’re gonna start developing little personalities. Take as many pictures as you can. Cuddle as much as possible because you’ll always look back and think it wasnt enough. They’re tiny for such a little time. It’s like grieving one kind of baby while receiving another.
i miss my baby kicking for the first time. such a magical experience that i will never forget. then seeing his face for the first time made the whole painful birthing experience so worth it. he was a whole month early too so i got to hold him sooner. he’s 10 months now and the most happiest baby boy
Also twins are normally a bit smaller( not for any bad reason just that they’re sharing food supplies) so don’t stress too much about having 0/3 months yet, you’ve plenty time!
Just about the bassinets, generally you want to keep them in your room the first few months to reduce risk of SIDS. Also just practicality wise, newborns wake/eat every few hours so you want them in your room with you to deal with it
Also, this is not to scare you at all but just for info! From one new parent to another! SIDS is higher in formula fed babies, boys, and winter babies. Odds are still super low. But love that you're doing back sleeping, that helps reduce the odds a really good amount and so would bassinets in your room 💕💕💕

Make noise, vacuum while they are in the next room slowly get closer. It was heaven sent for me. Although mornings for school are rough because they are hard to wake up but it was helpful as babies especially when we had a dog that barked and other siblings up playing during nap times.
U guys reached the half way mark. Now it’s gonna start to fly by! And How freaking cute was Shane explaining which one of the twins he thought was is and which twin was Ryland’s. Thats so Shane lol No one deserves a happily ever after, more then u 2! U guys are gonna be the cutest dads. And we are so excited to see the both of u extend ur family.

I couldn’t stop smiling. It’s been 6 years since I been pregnant. I have two boys as well. My oldest is 11 and my youngest is 6. I cried seeing the ultrasound picture im soooo happy for the both of you! I can’t believe you guys are going to be parents soon! You’re halfway there!

everyone told me i would hardly need any newborn clothes/diapers, and then he came out 5 pounds and i had to go buy preemie sizes and he stayed in preemie/newborn for like 2/3 months! since you're having twins im assuming theyll be on the smaller side so make sure you have lots, if you want :)

Y'all are going to be such great parents!! Get all the baby snuggles you can. You can't spoil a baby by holding them, loving them, and tending to their needs so soak up every moment cause it goes by way too fast. Had my first baby in January this year and having my second in February 2024. The newborn haze is real while you're trying to adjust so give yourselves and each other grace. Much love!!

The reason for the top sheet Ryland is to keep the duvet/duvet cover clean so you don't have to take it off and wash it every week. Which is far more work than just messing with a top sheet.
😂 my top sheet would always end up and my feet anyways so I’d have to wash it all regardless! Lol that and I pull the duvet over my face and like to have it washed for that reason too. But your logic does make sense!!
See, I argued with my mom about the top sheet. I thought it was archaic. She said I was crazy. I get really hot at night. But I tried the top sheet thing to prove mom wrong....and I actually stay cooler with it! And i don't have to wash my comforter but once a month instead of once a week now. It's sooooo much better. But to each their own!
The Duvet is actually the fit sheet sewn together according to Europeans. Americans don’t know what they’re talking about. The reason Americans have a flat sheet is because they used to only use comforters, quilts and blankets as the cover. The inside of the duvet is the comforter and they cover it in sheet material so it’s easier to wash every week you super slow Americans.

@@Rylandvlogs So in summer (this is going to sound nuts) but i put a flat sheet ontop of my made bed coz the duvet is too hot to use. Then I just use a light summer blanket thats quick and easy to wash. Fold them up in the morning and straighten bed. But in winter top/flat sheet, nz merino wool blanket and duvet lol. Coz its winter here right now Im all about the top/flat sheet.

So excited for you two! I had identical girls in 2019. It’s seriously such a special bond🩵. My girls are almost 4 and they are the best of friends. It’s a bond that can never be fully understood unless you’re a twin. (I’m not a twin) so half the time I’m just confused 😂

Please hire a postpartum doula to help you both navigate the twins first three months. Thats the one thing I wish I did different on my pregnancy. You both are going to be able to sleep at night lol at least the first 3 months. Being a parent is not easy but you both can do it!

I really hope they see your comment. Babies seperated from the person who carried them are already more likely to be more difficult to care for so a post partum doula would be amazing and would help Shane and Ryland so much. The experience would be so much more enjoyable for all.
@@rebeccaspratling2865 yeah I was thinking specially for the cluster feeding phase. I remember not sleeping well. Most family members won't stay up with you every x minutes to feed the baby. If I could go back in time I would have gotten a postpartum doula ASAP.
I loved my postpartum doula I got for my second. Had my babies close together as I was told I couldn’t get pregnant without meds surprise!! They allowed me to take a naps, showers, spend time with me oldest and food prep. It was so nice specially as I don t got a lot of support my first time so I knew what to expect in my situation.
I Idk how I would of survived without her as even remembering back all I did was eat sleep take care of my babies and added a odd shower in.
I can’t believe it’s already been 20 weeks! I’m currently pregnant at 26 weeks and I’m pumped everytime y’all do a baby update, because then I can compare and also watch all the baby stuff y’all are buying! I’m also having a boy 🥰 So happy for you guys ❤
