I just wanna say thank you for making these videos I've been in the field for quite a few years but I'm no super tech by no means so I really appreciate people like you making these videos!!
Thank you for this video .I could have not fixed my Furnace with out this video . My mom Marjorie thanks you to From the top to the bottom of are heart .
good video zack,,, close to home is always good . i aways like to see heat pumps,, seeing i don't run across them to offen being up north .most of the heat up north is gas ,oil boilers ,furnaces.but i did shut off a iced up heatpump today,no heat call . it was a block of ice totaly .maybe i can get some video on the problem once it thows out ,condenser was on heat mode all iced with the fan running .it should be intresting .the duct work was a mess also . no stactic pressure 8" line taken off end of duct .what a joke
Thermostat lost power for me too, but found it was caused by galvanic corrosion of the aluminum power cable connection to the copper leads. Stripped the wires back cleaned them real well and used oxide preventing electrical grease before adding the scotch locks. Powered up and fixed the issue.
happy holidays for you and you family I ben watching your videos for long time I want to say thank you for all your tips I really appreciate your hard work
Half way through the video I was thinking that thing needs to be changed!!!!! Then you got to the compressor not starting. Looks you may be changing out a package unit my friend
Thanks for the video's. My unit is 4 years old and it seems like the blower will come on most times but sometimes it will not start and it starts getting hot because the heating element is on. I can't seem to find a video about this, do you know what it might be? If I spin it by hand it will take off and start blowing. Just curios. Any input would be great, Thanks
Man, i'm glad you and the rest of the other real pro's upload these videos...I was going to school for this trade but unfortunately the school closed it's doors 3 month's b4 i could take my final exams...but i pretty much kept up with my studies and presently still looking for work here in New Mexico...i have learned alot and i'm gonna see if i can go for my journeymans & nate licenses...just wanted to know if you have any suggestions regarding study materials, guides, etc.. regarding those licenses...i'd appreciate any feedback..thanks and keep them videos rolling.
Hey Zach where did you get those fittings for your little gauge set I really like that idea I bought a Suction Gauge and a Liquid Gauge but can't find a way to connect to the unit! Thanks in advance
I have a Rheem rgua-080c in my attic. Today it started making a loud humming noise. The blower still turns, but I can't figure out what the humming is. It ran hard all summer then we had a cool day yesterday so it had time to rest. Do you think it's the motor or a bearing or something?
Hi, I am checking my HVAC and the blower motor has four wires - black, brown, blue and green. There are two capacitors for the fan. ( and a separate one for the compressor) When I tested the wiring with the multimeter, there is reading when I connect black and brown. When I test blue with all other wires, there is nothing at all. I saw most motor has a white wire but mine doesn't have one. Can you help please. Capacitors are all good but the HVAC won't start up.
Hi talyn875. Thanks for the video. I have an old gas furnace. Back in Dec. 2014 the furnace started short cycling & would take a long time to get up to desired temperature so I changed the Fan & Limit Control (Honeywell L 4064 B) & the furnace was working fine for the remainder of the winter season. This winter the furnace was working fine to about (1/18/16) 4 days ago. Once again short cycling. My F&L control has a press/pull peg, pulled out puts the blower in auto mode, pushed in is manual mode that overrides auto & should turn the blower on until I turn the blower off. I pushed in the peg to manual & the blower fan jumps to life but for short burst only or doesn't operate at all this takes place whether "calling" for heat or not. When power is on I can hear the transformer humming & sometimes a short burst of the motor but then it dies down. So I'm beginning to think it's the blower motor/capacitor & not the F&L control. I'll spin the finned blower wheel & quickly turn the power on & wheel will kick in for a short while then shut off. Long post I know...any suggestions/input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Newbeee... alert..... so I get confused on amp draw what wire do u take your amp reading on btw I have a fan that is not pushing like it used to I checked relay n that's good .. could it be cap or just motor is bad? I work for 400 apartment complex
I had a blower motor wasn't working. I replaced it and the capacitor. Now it isn't getting power. I have checked the obvious, no door safety and the breakers are on. It will not come on even with the switch on fan mode.
I really wish I could find a good HVAC guy who doesn't mind doing a little "moonlighting" to make some extra money. That way he could make extra money, and I can get a reduced rate. I realize that the reason the bigger companies have to charge so much is the overhead, but wow, I need to find a cheaper rate. I am just not cut out for this type of work myself, I'm all thumbs and also I am 65 with arthritis.
Great job Zack !! I believe that one will be residing in the boneyard before long. Love the Hilmor temp meter/probes. Take care, Brett.............PS...Can you add a 79 to the end of my username ? Thanks.
do you realize you have the side off the unit so it not drawing air across the coil as it should...thats why its freezing up. Ive done that before myself.
Check out my army surplus diesel unit ( please see video ) How hard would it be to put a functional reversing valve on it ? Thanks gave you a thumbs up .

Gil Cavey Jr no problem Gil, its fun
Great video! I was able to fix my Goodman for 17 bucks all due to a bad run capacitor. Thanks so much for making this video.
Thank you for this video .I could have not fixed my Furnace with out this video . My mom Marjorie thanks you to From the top to the bottom of are heart .
Changeout soon!!!...hey i like the new toy you have to check temperatures. Handy when using it with those gauges.
Thanks for sharing.
Good for "tech on the go". Thanks
man you should of been on the music business, i am glad you share your knowledge with us.
estrelladelnorte1308 Thanks, that is kind of you

Sounds like a mess. This place is like that, old ducting partially insulated and falling apart. Only 2/3 of the air even makes it into the building.
thank you for sharing. I learn a little more each time I watch this.
Dam Talyn Your'e gifted!!! u can sing and your a great tech!!!
Thanks man
I use a 3 degree td between rv lines for proof of leaking. Great video. Love your channel bud...
Thanks. 3 degrees should work well.
best video I've seen so far and trust me have seen many! great job!
remember you have to clean off your copper lines with sandscreen where you place your probes or you want get a accurate temp reading.
Thermostat lost power for me too, but found it was caused by galvanic corrosion of the aluminum power cable connection to the copper leads. Stripped the wires back cleaned them real well and used oxide preventing electrical grease before adding the scotch locks. Powered up and fixed the issue.
I like how you check everything before you change parts I work with some fellow all they do is change parts before they test
Thanks.
happy holidays for you and you family I ben watching your videos for long time I want to say thank you for all your tips I really appreciate your hard work
Merry Christmas Mr. Garcia!
Half way through the video I was thinking that thing needs to be changed!!!!! Then you got to the compressor not starting. Looks you may be changing out a package unit my friend
Hey, its what I do best Ralph. Yea you could watch and find reasons to change that thing out every 3 or 4 minutes.
Will a single stage outdoor unit work with a single stage indoor unit ?
Have you seen problems with the inducer pressure switch on a Goodman gas furnace?
I dont see a lot of gas furnaces but I have changed one Goodman switch on a 95% furnace.

Will that capacitor not make your unit work if it's bad..?? Please reply...
now if I could get you to come figure out my unit, it's 100 degrees lol, I'ma troubleshooting!
enjoy all your videos. thanks
Thanks Andy
Amp clamp go around the high speed black wire? Love the videos thank you
"common" or motor speed (black for high) is what you would test.
HEY, TALYN ! IT IS A GOOD VIDEO THANKS.
Thanks for this video!
Why does it show 2.5 amps when it was not working right and less amps when the capacitor was changed
The run cap helps the motor turn efficiently. With a bad a weak cap the amp draw will be higher
If the motor isn't blowing like it used to could it also be the cap I didn't check the cap on one of my tenants,,,,,

meonetallguy was it the capacitor?

please my blower is not working does it have a relay switch ?
Do you still have that unit
I had a blower motor wasn't working. I replaced it and the capacitor. Now it isn't getting power. I have checked the obvious, no door safety and the breakers are on. It will not come on even with the switch on fan mode.
Sharon Walton Dead fan motor?
If the motor isn't getting power the relay for it isn't closing or the coil side of the relay isn't getting its 24 volt call

thanks for this video, it was a lot helpfull. god bless you! :D
Definetly not hammer the reversing valve you could damage the valve body
You can tap it to switch it sometimes.
do you realize you have the side off the unit so it not drawing air across the coil as it should...thats why its freezing up. Ive done that before myself.

Ge makes good units
Liked It
Should be titled "troubleshooting a blower motor and heat pump."
I hope you get to replace that old hog
The electrical grid will thank me.
No i like the old ge wethertron het pump that is my favorite unit
It looks like that unit needs to be replaced.
If cap is FAT??.IT'S FLAT BAD!!!
Good
That looks heathy
Just let it die it's tired and wants to be recycled. Lol
It's actually still there, performing badly as I write.
