I made this video as part of a Christmas swap. I picked Maud (TheLadyOfIsell) and I wish her a merry Christmas (a little bit late). I hope you will like this video 💖 I'm so glad I stumbled upon you. I know this movie is one of your favorites, so enjoy! 😊 If you don't know her, take a look to her beautiful channel: ua-cam.com/channels/X9b-plKCt7M1YkjeqMLH8g.html
i literally only watched this movie for the first time a few days ago and their chemistry was insane!!! you captured their almost unhealthy relationship so perfectly and how just when she starts to love him, he falls out of love with her, this is perfect and the song choice is perfection!!!
i watched that movie a few months ago too... and, really, it's such a tragic love story 😢 they really were made for each other... both of them hating that old-fashioned, violent and close-minded society 💔 their story really makes me think of some sort of " _Pride and Prejudice, but they never got the happy ending_ " Thank you so much 💖
@@Akatra Only scene in the movie which never rang true for me, and I felt was unfaithful to the book was the one right before Bonnie has her accident and after Scarlett's miscarriage. Rhett apologizes to her and states his love. In the book, no such conversation took place. Scarlett is eager to communicate with Rhett; her obsession with Ashley is on the wane. He is polite to her but keeps her at arm's length. At that point in the book, you pretty much realize that Rhett has reached a point if no return. In the book for sure and in the film, too, this was a very frank and raw examination of a complicated adult relationship.
@@lnl3237 It probably would have worked better if he had simply walked up to her and made polite small talk before Bonnie announced she was going to jump. We could've read their true feelings in their looks and movements instead of having Rhett speak so plainly. It pulls us over to his side when it's not really deserved.
@@jodi2847 Definitely would've worked better. "Speaking plainly" was not something these two did. Despite their fearlessness in other situations, both Rhett and Scarlett were tremendously insecure about making themselves vulnerable to each other.
@@lnl3237 I still think it was captured very well in the movie though. The conversation that Mammy had with Melanie as they were walking up the stairs about how Rhett and Scarlett were treating each other after Bonnie died was very telling of the distance between them and how Scarlett was trying to communicate with Rhett but he refused. He was distant and cold. Maybe there were some changes made to the movie but the essence of it was still there and captured very well. I think Rhett was on the fence about leaving all the way up to when Melanie was dying. I think he was hoping against hope that he and Scarlett may have a chance. But when she left out of the room after talking with Melanie who was on her death bed, she ran straight to Ashley and told him how scared she was and told him to hold her. Rhett was literally standing behind them and watched his wife run again to this man... that was the moment I believe Rhett made up his mind that the relationship was over for him and he could no longer be with Scarlett. I still to this day don't understand why she ran to Ashley like that and why did it take her so long to realize she loved Rhett? BTW I think Clark Gable should have won for Best Actor for this movie. Even though he didn't have as much screen time, if you just look at his journey in the movie, you feel his pain and you watch this beautiful man struggle with his own insecurities, his love for this woman, his desire to be a good husband and father, him going from selfishness to wanting to be a productive member in society(joining the army at the time). Clark Gable made us feel for him. He was robbed in my opinion.
Great chemistry vivien and clark! Still one of best films of all times. Rhett loved scarlett deeply shame she realised too late but wished Rhett stayed to fight to save his marriage!
I love their chemistry so much. So, so, so much. I discovered that movie a few months ago, and I'm still really sad and bitter about the end 💔 That's what make the movie great too, because life isn't a fairytale and well, there isn't always an happy ending. But still... That was violent haha 😅 (sorry for any mistake, i'm not english ☺)
Agree. Sometimes life never works out the way you wanted to. I was overwhelmed by Melanie’s death. She was good hearted woman who cared for others especially towards Scarlett who secretly hated her.
@@BarbieLiu But Scarlett didn't hate her. Or at least, only thought she did. It took Melanie dying for Scarlett to realize just how much Melanie meant to her.
meginmd at start scarlett did developed a hatred for Melanie because Ashley married her. Melanie’s death made scarlett realise melaine was a true friend to her just like realising Rhett was the one for her.
I go back and forth on whether I want them back together or not. They were both so cruel to each other. I think that they end up together again---Rhett once said he had a weakness for causes once they are truly lost. I think eventually Scarlett would give up and once that happened, Rhett would want her back. I believe Rhett when he says he's over her; but at the same time, I remember how Belle said that even though Scarlett was poisoning Rhett, he still loved her. But at the same time I also think they both deserve someone who loves them.
Such a sad love story. I wish they could be happy, but they are just... Too similar, and different at the same time. Too much pride, and so little comprehension 😢
@@appto9447 As far as I know there are 2 sequels (Scarlett and Rhett Butler). And they came more than 20 years later after GWTW. In my opinion Scarlett is a fantastic sequel.

I watched this movie about over a dozen times. I read this book bout over a dozen times. I fell in love with them thousand times. It broke my heart to milion pieces. I don't think it was toxic relationship. For them this little piece of poison was being so cruel to the truth. That she is the same as he. That if he was still chasing her, she would still chase Ashley. But when she lost love for Ash, she lost some kind of love for her. The same time. The same ache. The same spirits. I'm thinking that the second book would show how this could work for them. How this tension and temper could easily build them new future. Like this dead of their daughter and all mess that they went trough...they were always there for each other. Many of people saying she never done anything for him. What? She give him a baby, when she was still so in love with another man. She carried Tara on her shoulders and made him husband of this land. She let him to her world. To her tears. Close to her fire. They were meant to be. Always.
Actually, you could make an argument for both cases. The one that they never get back together and the other that they do. On the one hand, it seems like he is done with her. On the other hand, which is the one I like the best, they do get back together. After all, in the book he does not divorce her. He says that he will come back long enough to keep gossip down. If he was truly done with her, why not divorce her? He could care less about reputation so that’s not an issue. At one point, he’s asking her… “Well, what about Ashley”?And she said something like, “We’ll, I don’t think I’ve loved Ashley for years but I was such a silly fool I didn’t know it”. Why would he even ask if he was truly done with her. Why would he not he just pack his bags and leave? So, the fact that he’s not going to divorce her and that he said he always had a weak spot for loss causes… I don’t know. If she laid low after he left it & was kind and loving toward him I think she could win him back.
@@robynalvin6319 Well actually on the second book (Scarlett). They said that Rhett actually never stopped loving Scarlett, he just was afraid that she will never do it, that everything Scarlett says is just because of money (And actually is not about that).
