I just love how Elvis gets really hands on with the machining and fabrication with all of the recent Wheeler Dealers. Got a professional Mat Armstrong vibe to it, whilst still being highly personable.
I like Mike Brewer and Elvis is a great mechanic but reality is for anyone else thats a big loss, Hartech aren't letting average Joe in to use they're facilities, moral is buyer beware the profit is made when you buy !
I work at Hartech and I can confirm that yes we had them in the building but you’re exactly right and we couldn’t ourselves warrant the engine if we hadn’t fully done it our way so there is bits missed and things that are made to look like Elvis did them when in reality our engine tech did them
Being a German I can give you some advice on how to pronounce the name of the wheels: its name is Fuchs, which in German isn't pronounced like "fouche", but like "fooks" (like it would be in "books"). 😉
Les chemises sont dans un congélateur à -80deg celsius, puis sortie et directement insérer dans le bloc qui lui est à température ambiante, le choc thermique scelle les chemises dans le bloc.
What have Porsche had to say about the bore score issue? Are they not embarrassed that their reputation will take a hit? Why couldn't these cars have had the higher quality cylinder liners from the outset? I've had issues with BMW bikes and the company attitude is to ignore you until you go away. Is that the Porsche philosophy too?
Just curious, is it possible to increase the engine capacity when getting this job done, it might be worth your while, especially when you have the engine stripped down, maybe a 4 litre conversion would be nice.
Porsche used crap Lokasil and Alusil on their cylinders for all the non-turbo/GT3 996 and 997’s, but used the same across the whole 991 range. 4% ? Yeh right… My 2006 is getting rebuilt right now and I’m dead certain my 2018 will need is at some point too.
Edd china te echamos de menos, el tiempo del programa ya no se usa en reparaciones sino en hablar del coche. Una lástima que Edd dejara el programa, pero si este era el futuro del mismo, creo que entonces acertó
Surprised the shop doesn't charge you for using their equipment???? Do clarify... or where are the savings from the 2500 pounds original cost. I am shocked to see that a 911 would have an open deck at the cost of cylinder strength. Still got hot!!!! whats the point then.???
I think most of that it’s due to ownership fault. People don’t daily drive these cars, they buy them as toys and only ever warm up the cars on the garages or driveways, which is exactly what you not supposed to do.
Why did this program use a fake exhaust noise when filming this car on the street. I have never heard a noise like that coming out of any 6 cylinder Porsche. Wtf??
great video but it's the complete antithesis of what Wheeler Dealers is about. Who in the real world is going to take a gamble on a 15 grand car and has access to the facilities required to fix said car? Back in the day it was centred around the hobbyist buying cars for modest prices and doing jobs that could be done at home. Now, they have the resouces a F1 team would have as well as the budget and mechanics.
Elvis, How much are they Charging you to Bore a Hole, in your Country, In the Us, Its about 30 a hole, So new set of pistons, bearings and and bore, How bad can it be, 1000 bucks, Search for a set of 30 over pistons.unless your Being ripped off because they think your Loaded.and you Probably, are, LOL
It's not that easy and using anything but iron casing is recipee for it happening again! The reason being is that cylinder is flimsy on the ends and becomes egg shaped over time and it is flimsy because it is BORED out Boxster 2.5 block :D and the walls are thin as hell, you need to make it stiffer! TLDR it will score again ;)
mercedes - bmw - porsche - and audi = all have big engine problems ! = so much cost for german junk = nice to drive - nice to look at = A DEMON TO OWN ! = big bank account !
Ok, Sorry but I'm missing how "this" blocks cylinders are so hard? They wore excessively with "stock" pistons??? Poor design ='s poor craftmanship! German does not ALWAYS = better. Proof here.....LS with piston skirt coating do Soooo much better. No mercy here when you look at cost to refurbish and replace.........
What I fined messed up about mike, Great guy, But why is he selling a Car, for a couple of thousand dollars, Most of the time ,I mean I know he wants to sell the Car But stop giving them away, Its just plain stupid. Like the Volvo, Redid the interior all new suspension, And sells it foe a lousy 1500 dollars over what he did , Just plain stupid,Car was rust free, That car should have sold for 15,000, with out trying. He,s just Giving them away. He should be making 5000 dollar profit on every car they redo.
What WD has become - even less mechanical detail than Car SOS and now a, less than charismatic mechanic alongside the "wee barrel". Thats me being polite. Dire guys, just dire.
BMW fragile engines, Mercedes crap, VW rubbish, Porsch IMS bearing and cylinder wall failure. I'd sooner have my A Series engined Metro, tried n trusted, reliable, easy to fix 👍
Totally peed off with wide boy Brewer. The success of the program is only due to the excellent mechanics and trade people . , however he takes most of the credit from sourcing spare parts . Revolting rude bloke who continually uses everyone to feed his king sized ego

I fell in love with the result look and sound of this beauty! nice going Mike and Elvis, it looks stunning.

Wheeler dealer play found you guys again. Love you guys. Glad to have you back.
Damn, I'd buy this Porsche if I lived in the UK, definitely worth it now that it's been sleeved!

99% of car people on these channels can't even pronounce the Porsche name. This guy included.
Could we offer you some engineering advice in return?
Lovely ! Gorgeous wheels & livery! missed the interiors though..
Did you replace the pistons?
Unless I missed something, you didn't show the insertion of the new cylinder liners -- really the most sensitive part of the operation.
If its the most sensitive part of the operation, then would it be a trade secret?

Final car looks great. Love the play on the Carrera RS 2.7 look.
You are right on all counts all your points are correct
Lesson for this is don't buy one unless you got deep pockets
What if ones have holes in their pockets, would that count?
Amazing how poorly engineered Porsche cars are, but they still maintain their reputation.
Yeah I'm manifesting owning a Porsche one day
Blissfully ignorant comment
Sorry, but IMHO those replica fuch wheels look awful! What a terrible thing to do to a Porsche.
So after watching a engines rebuild you only noticed the aftermarket wheels. Expand your horizons mercy !!!!!
personal taste, i acually really like them alot.
Agreed. I’m also unsure about the graphics too.
I have a set of genuine on my 997 and they look amazing! They are the classic black centre with silver rims.
Love the color scheme, nate the wheels myself as well. Totally agree, they could have done way better with so many Porsche choices out there.
Just curious, is it possible to increase the engine capacity when getting this job done, it might be worth your while, especially when you have the engine stripped down, maybe a 4 litre conversion would be nice.
It is possible and this would have been better than Fuchs wheels!
Engine and parts does not cost 3500 especially from hartech
So how much are they?

Porsche should live up to the expensive price tag.
This is precisely why I would stay away from the brand ticking time bomb
why you didnt show the making of the new cylinders?
Imagine entering McDonald's and are a bit short of money but you ask to do the burger yourself to save you some money.
Is that a Lambretta Vega in the background?
Met Elvis lovely bloke 😊
Sorry but i love the work done to the engine and it looks superb 👍
What are you apologising for?
Awesome - lets see the full episode ;-)

watching this today on Quest, i came looking for an upload, seen my old comment, no need for another.
Not sure why the best case it’s only 1 cylinder when your going to have them all done
If I’m a leaving a block, it’s getting bigger pistons!!!!

Why would they demand special treatment? Surely if they were engineered properly in the first place the problem wouldn't occur?
Great to see some actual engineering and machining. But omg those wheels are terrible
