Marvellous! I am a 62 year old Waterloo lad in exile and I can remember the trolley buses and the sound they made when mam took me into Stamford St. I never thought I would see this stuff again- so a big thanks!
Brilliant Chris ! ...im too young to remember the trolley buses was born in 1970 BUT i do remember Ashton bus station being like that and the orange and white buses ...also the wooden spoon facing the bus station before the council demolished it to make way for the council offices and changing the bus station! .....i now live in Bristol but go home occasionaly and it seems history is repeating at the moment in Ashton what with probably the 3rd rebuild in my life time of the bus station and the second rebuild now of the council offices! tbh makes me sad when i come home as Ashton is a shadow of its former self gone now are the market stalls out door where you could buy anything you needed also same with indoor market too since the fire and rebuild !...some call it progress but i suppose they are right in a way thing evelove and change and we cant live in the past!
Great vid thank you. Ashton has changed so much, it used to have character, it's bizarre how many buildings have gone, it's lost its soul, I am sorry to say. This vid is great. Anyone know what street is at the Littlewoods red bus is? Just cannot place it.
Just WOW. And some shots of the Snipe/Audenshaw towards the end as well. Fabulous.
I was born in 62, and my mum was manager of a hairdresser at Chester Square, that brought lots of memories back for me, thank you.
67 now 😬 Will watch this gem again thanks.

A job well done!
Great Work! The sound of the trolley snapping on the wires brought back memories.
1:20 to 1:55 is showing Oldham Mumps area.
Knew Ashton well from a boy, two great markets. It used to be the go to shop town. Left the area nearly 40 years ago. What's it like now?

Born in 1978 at tameside hospital, lived on angelsey rd.
Great film, good to see my mums and dad shop next to the Wooden Spoon.
Ex Oldham Corporation PD2s and PD3s are shown at Mumps Bridge, Oldham; probably around 1971.
I would like to know what year the first part of the video is from.I would have a guess and say about 1973 to 1974.
Where did this film come from btw and are there any other gems like this on UA-cam or elsewhere ? It's not the buses but the old places I like to see.
Yes I agree, I love the brief glimpse if Charlestown station and Bow Street. Be good to see more
Ebyeck I grew up here and remember the trolley buses. notice how quiet they were. So what do they do???get rid of them.
No pollution either, Mike. Reqalised their mistake, brought trams back!
Fantastic film
Its from an old DVD , you can still buy it it's made by PNP Video
when it was?
Second part 1964 because that's when the building of Sunley Tower was. First part with the Selnec buses was in the Selnec era of the 70's
Never liked those SELNEC orange/white colours. Red was best.
