I am so FASCINATED by this topic! I remember when I first started cake decorating, I worked with a woman who always knew the exact gel color to use to make the perfect fondant color. She inspired me to really look at colors differently and now when I'm making flowers, I love playing with the dusts to create more realistic tones and shades. I don't know what I love more about this video: your easy-to-understand teaching style or your gorgeous color wheel 😍
Thanks so much Kelsie!! Colours are so much fun to play around with and I’m glad you enjoy playing around with them too 😍 it makes the dusting process really enjoyable!
May I recommend finespun cakes community. There are a number of tutorials to choose from and an excellent source of artistic talents to collaborate with. Cheers!
This is such a great video - really helpful and easy to understand. Thank you so much. And like Diane below i would love to see more about different leaf/foliage greens.
Best color theory tutorial I've seen. Thank you so much, this is going to really elevate my color blending. A keeper tutorial I'm sure I will have on repeat until it's stuck solidly in my brain!
I recently started trying to use color theory, so I was excited when I saw your video! I bought my color wheel. I would like to learn more about different leaf/foliage green colors. There are so many different leaves and Foliage but trying to achieve all those greens has been harder for me. When buying petal dusts, there are lots of options for reds, purples and pinks but not as many choices for green. They all seem either really dark or almost fluorescent. So mixing realistic colors is hard. I also would love to learn skin tones for modeling. I know you do flowers best but you seem to really understand color theory!! Thank you for all the amazing tutorials!!
That’s a great idea Diane!! I will certainly touch more on the foliage colours in another video. And skin tones would be a really fun challenge as well!
Can you tell us exactly what the colors are, because there are many shades of green, purple, pink ... and he doesn't see the clearest on the screens? Thank you for making this video, it is also extremely useful for those of us who have already dealt with some kind of design and colors. Thans. 💙
There all listed in the description box of the video. But just look for the most saturated primary and secondary colours you can find (closest to the colour wheel hues)

Muchas gracias, me encantó aprender sobre colorimetría para mis flores y pasteles¡¡
The Pantone color of the year 2023 is vivid magenta. What colors would you mix to get vivid magenta?
Oooh great question! I'm also working on a display cake with that colour so I'll definitely play around and share my findings :)
Can you show us with buttercream? Or does it work just the same?
Works exactly the same no matter the medium :)

Instead of buying expensive petal dust can you use just regular eye shadow for colors? I know that seems silly but I've wondered about it for awhile.
Thankyou! So to match a real flower colour or fabric swatch do you just play with colours? Or do you have any tips for that?
There are some more advanced colour theory techniques for matching colours but it is also a lot of practice and playing around too!
