I actually use foam to make molds for aluminum casting. A lot more heavy for cosplay but a lot more durable. Great short video.👍

Oh wo, that’s super interesting! Would be too scared to use any metal for my costumes, ga ha! 😅

Jeremy, do you use "lost wax" casting for your method? I know it is doable with poly-foam but never tried EVA. Or do you remove the foam after packing the sand?

@@RoseKindred I remove the foam after compacting the sand. I've used wax a couple of times before but I wasn't too happy about the results. I think it was my fault though; I was trying to get too much detail out of the wax.

@@jeremyortiz2927 Ah, thanks for the answer. I did not mean the wax exactly, well it works great for jewelry and other small items, just that is what the technique of "burning away" is called. I was always scared to try it with foam since I know it is not that good to smelt, and I would expect EVA to be worse.
If you have a 3D printer there is also resin that is made to be melted away, if you want to try highly detailed items.

@@KamuiCosplayjust cast your foam works into a metal. I would prefer a legit metal that has viking feels over that is just an imitation. There are tons of diy tutorials of metal casting.

Nice. Lovely to see a pro cosplayer showcase the same way I do it. Makes me feel a tad bit validated.

Another method for this I've used in the past involved mixing sand with wood glue and then applying it. It's easy to overdo it on the sand but if you get the ratio right it's good for a very specific look
