Pre-superships I got the Shikishima and somehow I always had better games in it than in either the Yamato or the Musashi. And the (back than) insane Alpha per shell can be so satisfying.
I personally bought the Shikishima this past holiday season (already have the Bourgogne), and I'm really liking the alternative playstyle it offers compared to the Yamato! I built it for secondaries and I play it like a mid-range force multiplier, and it feels a lot more comfortable during the late game stages where the engagements close in and I can rely on my secondaries as backup. I think what helped my mindset is playing the Shikishima in its own unique way instead of playing it like another Yamato; to know what the Shikishima alternatively offers (secondaries, AA,) and adjusting to it instead of forcing myself to play it the same way when I play the Yamato.
I would have to disagree with PQ for this though. Shikishima is not like a Yamato or other BBs in general. This thing is a slot machine. Damage does not come from one massive salvo that deletes a cruiser or even a battleship; it accumulates by one or two full pens per salvo. I play this ship for relaxation because I don't have to think too much about shell placement, and I get to enjoy faster reload, better ballistics, and better survivability than a Yamato. If you expect this thing to slap as hard as a Satsuma or a Incomparable, you came to the wrong place. This is IMO the definition of AP spammer. Just shoot on reload, and you will get somewhat decent performance at the end. Also, I feel astronomically more frustrated when missing a broadside with Bourgogne than with Shikishima. Because I expect the Bourgogne to do massive damage in a salvo, while I don't expect the same for Shikishima. Also, it would be a pain to decide if you want Yamamoto on Satsuma or Yamato. Shikishima won't have that same problem.
@@Strykenine Mostly in anti-air. Shikishima has 100mm secondary so she has much better AA than Yamato. In terms of the hull itself, it's exactly the same as Yamato. Shikishima will be a lot more survivable in a CV match, even if the CV decides to focus you.
At this point I feel like Shiki should get the high precision spotter that the Bungo line has. It’s dispersion combined with the lack of turrets has always been a problem, so why not give it a tool to help with that?
The game does not need another Bungo, that's for sure. You "fix" one small issue with one ship and create 84759 others, much more significant. Balancing anything doesn't work like that, hence it's so hard and getting more and more challenging the more ships in the game we get.
If i would buff anything about Shiki or yamato, it would be the turret traverse and thats it. Guns hit hard enough with good accuracy. Turret traverse would make it more comfortable. Easier to angle for better tanking and more options for good shots, so more possibilities for dmg. Hull sucks at close range, but i find it decent against AP at longer distance. Plus I don't want more gimmicks.
Agreed with the turret traverse. On the other hand, if Shiki gets the precision spotter, why not Yama as well, with the rest of the line? Or add the precision spotter to other ships with bad dispersion (ITA BBs including Lauria)? There was a reason why the Bungo line has low alpha shells.
i would be happy if they just made our salvos more consistent. i really hate the ying and yang of one salvo all hitting within 2 mm of each other, and the next one the shells go on all sides of your target with none hitting it.
PQ touched on the point I was going to make at the 12 minute mark. BBs have the ability to dev strike so many ships off the map, sending them back to port. Their inconsistency is how they are balanced. With cruiser guns, you cant dev strike by HE spam. it takes time, it takes focus. The BB being farmed has time to maneuver and to get out of the situation
So therefore, the solution is to buff all BB dispersion by 20% and nerf their alpha by 30%. This will not only reward skill, but it will also eliminate those stray citadels which are so RNG. Also nerf overmatch damage by 50%.
@@VirgilfinnatellI thought like this a while back, essentially remove the stupid slot machine rng in exchange for twice the reload time. BBs would shoot far less but actually hit what they aim at, and that should be important - and reward the player for aiming correctly.
@@Virgilfinnatell i believe you just defined a cruiser... @@mkasrey7365 I love playing my Satsuma. But I don't get many games in it because it cost so much. For every one game of the Satsuma, I need an amazing game in the prinz Eugene
For me, the best steel ship definitely and one of the best ships in game. Same DPM as Satsuma with better comfort (lower reload and better angles). Shorter, less shell-eaty hull. Better matchmaker. +300k instead of -200k credits on the economical side. Basically, better, more fun and less economically heavy version of Satsuma. Oh, and it costs (mostly useless) steel instead of actually valuable, grindy credits/coal. Play two seasons of clans and it's yours.
Shiki is a slot machine. You get a roll every 20 seconds, you might get 0 hits or 1 overpen, or you nuke some poor soul for 20K across the map. This is the reason I play this ship, and if you can keep rolling for 15 mins straight, you will do damage, a lot of damage.
I noticed in the last months, that you are extremely focussed on citadel damage when you are playing BBs. I know, it's exciting to hit the big damage bullseye. Personally I prefer ships like the Mecklenburg, which is by far my best damage dealer. An AP salvo of 16 accurate 305s every 23 seconds on any ship is way better than an 8 or 6 gun ship can perform. I.e. a Satsuma got a max salvo damage of 155k every 31 seconds and the Meckle does 150k every 23 seconds (AP). Even if you don't make citadel damage, the normal pen damage is way superior. AND against cruisers the 305s are even better or against DDs you dont even have to switch to HE to sink them. Big guns when they hit are satisfying, but the 305s of a Meckle perform way more consistent. And I only talk about AP damage. Not to mention the HE ability against bowtanking ships. So for me, there is no point to have a focus on the citadel or waiting for THE opportunity. Get a salvo out every 23 seconds on a target in the best position or the most important target and it's all fine. But that's only me and I'm of course not as good as you are.
I think it’s just PQ’s BB playstyle from all the way back when positioning, flanking, and smashing broadsides was how you win and carry games. The old BBs worked well with that play style, but I think times have changed. Damage farming is just more consistent nowadays, especially when you’re not a unicum player. Many top BBs have good HE salvos: Thunderer, St Vincent, Meck, Burger, Bungo. It’s interesting how all of these ships are closer to battlecruisers.
Think Trenlass says the Meck is his fav BB for many of the reasons you stated. Id like to try it, but have focused more on rapid firing botes like Colbert, where if the game screws you, your next salvo is a second away.
The problem is that this ship relies on big broadside damage, especially into the citadel if you are playing Cruisers otherwise it either ricochets or over pens. While I do agree that his general stance is of older gameplay, this one instance in particular he is right.
Mecklenburg is actually one of the best BBs in the game. It's main downside is just lack of hydro and turret angles. Armor is honestly not that bad, it just has a couple weird spots where you should bounce but it just takes full pens.

I think it's something about two gun, large caliber turrets. I don't have Shikishima, but I do have a Georgia, and it's the most infuriating thing in the world to play. When those guns hit, they kill everything. It's just that they don't connect more often than they do.
Steel-DDs and Coal-DDs would be extremely nice to see updated reviews for 2024 from you PQ! :) Besides, thank you a lot for all your vids, at least 90% of them are insanely helpful for new or newish players. That said, greetings from Germany :)
I feel like a good buff for this ship would be to have much better vertical dispersion and worst horizontal. That way, if you angle against it, the chances of receiving shells is slim but existant while going broadside is devastating
Shiki is the only T10 steel ship I do not own, which means I bought both FDR and gato despite having no interest to play them right now and honestly it's pretty unlikely that I will ever get frustrated enough in my life that I would feel the need to grief people playing those 2 classes in PvP. But here's the difference: Most pretty unlikely is not the same as never, so there is a slim chance that I would feel bad if WG ever pulls those two and I don't own them. With Shiki that's not the case, because like you said any Veteran could simply either play leg-mod Yamato (we all have the free camo + booster, so it's only slightly worse maintenance fees) or in randoms take the credit hit and play Satsuma.
One point to address though: Playing Shikisima even at 90k-100k wil net you some coin. Satsuma will drain it back for players like me that dont have an abundance or red flags to 0 in the repairs. Else we wouls all have a Satsuma for SURE! I got some numbers if anyone wishes to know how the maths went in my only one SS game. Thanks for the video friend.
PQ your judgement is really overshadowed by your status, as you practically get everything for free in the game. Shikishima's one big advantage over both the Yamato and the Satsuma is, that it is a premium ship. To play the Yamato I would need to have it, which I currently don't because I reset that line for RB. Furthermore I'd need to train my commander for it, which costs waaaay too much if the commander is high level... and even then I would get worse rewards/economy than with the Shikishima, not to mention having to buy the leg-mod. And talking about economy, the Satsuma - as all superships - is a credit-sink. On top of that it is a super, it cannot participate in some games where a regular TierX easily can. Shikishima might not be the best pick gameplay-wise, but Yamato and Satsuma are not direct replacements for it, not for a casual player.
Giving it just ever so slightly better base dispersion (like 5%), a slightly longer reload, and the Bungo spotter plane is probably the right place for this ship to be in.
I was pleasantly surprised when I bought this ship. I have way better matches in Shiki than I do I do Yamato with legendary mod. I can't explain why. I also notice that other players tend to fear the Shiki and modify their tactics where in Yamato they just treat it like an average BB.
Contrary to the other comments, I actually enjoy playing Shikishima. I don't own bourg (I'm not filthy enough to play it regularly even if I did own it) or Incomp or Meck. Initially I felt like Shikishima was worse than Yamato leg mod, but then I slapped on Superheavy AP and threw furious in as well, and my damage numbers went WAY up. I don't know if its something to do with the percentage buff that superheavy AP gives, but now even landing two shells into a ship is enough to do ridiculous damage on just pens, no cits, meaning you don't have to rely on dispersion to gift you god salvos, as even stray shells now do great damage. If you play Shikishima like Republique legendary mod (Highly recommend by the way) and you are just always shooting and not giving the enemy time to maneuver against your guns, your either doing massive damage to ships, or forcing them to turn away from you/caps/other players on your team and therefore become much less effective. By proxy you also survive more too despite the weak hull because no one wants to be spotted getting hammered with sub-20 second reload 35mm overmatch just to farm you. Its such a roundabout dichotomy but it works!
_Initially I felt like Shikishima was worse than Yamato leg mod_ Fun fact: Shikishima actually has Yamato's legendary mod baked in. Shikishima's base dispersion is tighter than Yamato's.
I still get more consistency out of the shiki than I do the incomp, and I still recommend it before the incomp. I find incomp to often be very frustrating to play because she relies way too much on gimmicks. Something ad simple as getting stuck in a CV game makes it really hard to use because she relies on not being seen so she can get into position to use those guns. When she gets good MM, and dispersion, then she's great. However, the guns are also inconsistent and considering how the ship is a giant citadel and how much risk you often take to get those shots, I find that inconsistency to be completely unacceptable where as I can forgive it more on shiki since I'm not having to frequently put myself in risky situations to use the guns.
I picked mine up prior to Secondary rework... back then Shikishima was a good package, massive guns, IFHE secondaries, decent AA.... now with secondaries accuracy decimated (although it still can repel DDs at close range), it's not as fun as the first iteration was. I run full secondary build still, no main gun accuracy module nor main gun reload module. Turrets turn comfortably with Yamamoto. I do wish they give Shikishima secondaries some accuracy that it used to have.
Shiki used to have a secondary gun gimmick. But after the rework WG never bothered to buff the base accuracy of the secondary guns. Such a shame imo. Those seconaries ate up anything that got in range
I had this thought that maybe super precision on a point in space on a moving target might not be good. If you land most of the shells in one spot, what if the target moves out of that spot? I suppose dispersion helps with landing shots on a moving target.
Its not 6 gun ships, its dual turret ships. For some reason, they have horrid dispersion. Look at the Gneisenau, Bismarck, Shikishima, even the dual turrets in the 14" and 16" japanese lineup. I was in the Kii, firing at a broadside target, and the shells seems to literally bouncing into each other as I fired and went different directions. It was frustrating.
When it comes to cit'ing a bow on cruiser and the confusion based from that. Have you considered the way the shell is moving through the length of the ship so it has further to travel for arming distance and also the full length of the citadel to hit.
One buff to Yamato hull to make it VERY competative in 2024. Remove "Cheek". Boom, universally tankier hull yet not increasing power level THAT much. Shiki secondaries would be usable and much more unique over standard. Keep dispersion of both the same. No "Yamato Cheek" weakness, these ships would be WAY more powerful. Keep in mind, Monty's cit was lowered by about 80% to make it as tanky as it is.
This ship is my biggest regret in WoWs. It was my first steel ship (I do not play for steel resource in general) and it was fun when it first came out. The sound was unique, the caliber was unique... But in 2024, this thing is nothing special and due to dual gun barrels, you feel RNG more than you should in supposedly such an accurate ship.
If someone still want to get the Shiki, it's your choice but I won't recommend her unless you have plenty of steel to spend. Just get the Bourgone or the Mecklenburg first as your first steel ship.
Shiki kind of reminds me of Lauria nowadays. If you get good RNG, then you just smash ships for ungodly damage at any angle. Basically like the containers/loot boxes in-game.
Yam hull doesn't need a gun upgrade to make it more competative. Remove the hull cheek, no other buffs. It will be one of the best BB's in game, even in CB and KotS.
They need to reduce the amount of damage that can be done through the super structure and deck. Feels like most BB armor is irrelevant since everyone just shoots through your top and you die.
Is there anyone else like me a big fan of shikashima s camo? Back in the days permanent camo on tier 10 cost 5000 dubs, then you could play it with no worry of losing coin, thats why i chose to buy shikashima, better camo than yamato and then as premium i am not losing coin to play it
Let's compare the Yamato and Shikishima. AP Salvo Alpha damage and DPM: Yamato - 133,200 and 266,400 DPM Shikishima - 116,400 and 258,667 Dispersion: Yamato - Hor. 170m Ver. 96m Shikishima - Hor. 158m Ver. 89m Penetration at 12km: Yamato - 629mm Shikishima - 613mm Using Shiki over Yamato means you are getting less pen, less alpha in your broadside, and less DPM in exchange for a faster reload and slightly better dispersion. Your better dispersion is not felt as much because you lack guns over Yamato. Yamato also gets access to the legendary mod. You have the choice of giving up DPM for better dispersion on the Yamato. This is a good choice to consider if you're looking to get those devastating strikes more often. Overall I see little reason to use Shikishima over Yamato except for the gun sounds. You're essentially getting a less flexible Yamato with slightly worse stats for a lot of steel.
Shiki ends up with higher DPM on paper actually, if you choose to use legmod on Yamato. Shiki will be using MBM3 in the slot Yamato would be using the legmod on. With Yamato you get the same dispersion (with legmod) but worse DPM, or better DPM but worse dispersion (with MBM3) 6 guns can definitely feel worse from salvo to salvo than 9 guns, but many people are bad at collating statistics over a large number of salvos. I haven't seen any strong evidence that Yamato's guns are more consistent than Shiki's over a large sample size, but one thing that is certain is Yamato's salvo is heavier, (133.2k AP vs 116.4K AP), so it does have more potential to land juicier hits.
@@cardboardsnail Thought that’s what I said. Yamato is more flexible. You can either have better DPM than Shiki if you take reload mod or you can have lower DPM but juicier salvos with a higher alpha broadside, higher penetration values, and more guns if you take Legendary mod.

I don’t see a reason to buy shiki. Especially for that much steel. If you want DPM you run Yamato reload mod. If you want devastating strikes you run leg mod. I feel like shiki tries to be DPM and Leg Mod Yamato at once but ends up being worse at both. Min maxing Yamato is better imo. You get less DPM than a DPM focused Yamato and your better dispersion isn’t felt as much as it would be on Leg Mod Yamato because of your limited number of guns and lower alpha per salvo.
I was thinking about getting the Shikishima for a long time, the fact that it plays exactly like a Yamato and the fact that I don't enjoy Yammy that much, plus the release of the Fatsuma makes getting this ship pointless.
Honestly, I find these guns sound like a soccer ball being fired out of a big metal can. 😁 I think the best sounding guns are of Lion / Conqueror / Duncan. And yes, the BB struggle is being shown again, this time with Shikishima.
I do not agree with the statement of Satsuma > Shikishima, Satsuma is a T11 which are designed to drain the resource out of an account you basically lose credit every single game unless all the enemy team throw themselves at you for free to farm 400k+ damage or you just slam some high credit gain bonuses to gain some credit or at least not lose credit (which still holds the fact that T11 are designed to drain the account and make you pay real money) while T10 premium does not do that, but yeah Shiki is very inconsistent true there are better ships to get from steel shop.
The "it only has six guns" argument doesn't hold water for me in the long run. The ship averages more damage than St. Vincent. One might say that missing a shells is a big chunk of damage lost, compared to missing a shell in Yamato, but it all averages out in the end, given that Shikishima's shells pack a much bigger punch.
Idk, i think not getting Shika because Satsuma exists is like not getting Bourgogne because St. Vincent exists. Just pick what you are interested in playing.
The problem with Satsuma is how sluggish it is. Even for a Japanese super battleship it feels way too sluggish. Another thing is the cost of operations. You definitely need to do good or you need a combination of premium and economic bonuses because 400k credits plus shell cost isn't sustainable if you're just an average broke player.
If you are spending the steel, incomparable is a much better pick, same gun sounds, a highly unique gameplay (like its got better conceal than 1/2 my T10 cruisers) and just memes harder than shiki. Sad but shiki just gets outshined by other options
For me, i really enjoy the shikishima. I feel like whichever point I'm supporting is stable and that the ships i fire at activity react to me, by angling or evading. That's ideal! Drawing their attention, splitting their mental processing power, means team mates can find openings. Those guns strike fear, and fearful opponents are a bit more predictable imo.
the Problem with the Satsuma is its expensiv . even just going for a drive costs alot . i do like Shiki i havent had many Kraken yet even after 3l+ games but Shiki is one of them .
I think I prefer the Satsuma with the main battery firing adjustment. But that being said, the Bungo with the high precision spotter might be better for me. I love the sound of the big guns, but I get more satisfaction out of getting a lot of pens also. I'd like to see the Marco Polo. I got it recently and I'm still on the fence about it...
Play Marco Polo like a big Roma and you will have fun (assuming you liked Roma). If you try to play it like a main line ITA BB it doesnt work. Works differently to them, Gieseppe Verdi is also very good if you follow Roma's style.
Agreed, Yamato is just better just because of the consistency. I bought Shiki anyway to be able to enjoy the 510mm sound without having to burn silver in the Satsuma, kind of regretting it now though...
reminds of the collingwood at t7 that ship is probably the worst t7 bb in the game, except when RNG smiles on you and you get a triple cit and nuke a cruiser from full HP collingwood has the worst armor I've ever seen, absolutely abysmal accuracy, and is very slow. But it gets hydro and a reload booster and 75% pen repair.
Dude this is one of few BBs I am really scared of. These guns just rips your ship in half when it hits. I mostly don't care about you beloved Bourgogne, cos it has no overmatch so I just angle and I am fine or mostly people play it to shoot HE on 20km... Can't much angle against Shikishima..
“We’re gonna have a lot of damage in this game” proceeds to score a whopping 1940 on a broadside Mogami (yes, I know, it was turning away) Sometimes Mother Nature is really a glitch in the matrix Also, I’d like to have that St Louis RNG
I have to agree, not worth the steel. However everytime Im in a game with one Im wary of its location and my angle to it, been slapped so many times by it from across the map. Still not getting it.
I always get better games with Shiki than with Yamato (leg mod) or Musashi In airship escort i spec full secondary + close quarters, that gives a 19 second reload Shikishima (imagine adding furious to that)
Potato NEVER alternating to HE even at DDs/angled enemies (shiki has excellent HE shells), fails to mention FAR superior economics to silver-stealing Satsuma, doesn't instantly explode like Incomparable when hit, and has better secondaries/AA than Yamato in a 2024 CV prolific game (same hull, NOT same deck). 100K+ dmg while limited by low ROF & velocity, is actually a high number for the average player and easily repeatable for resource positive experiences.
Too much emphasis on how does it perform these days but me as a Yamato fan boy the Shikishima will be the ship I will buy and not regret. I’m gonna have more fun with a ship that I like visually than a ship that plays good.
This video seals it. It's the last steal ship besides Lauria for me and I already didn't like it. The dispersion you experienced in this game is what my dispersion looks like in every game even with aim bug mitigation tactics. Weegee really is the worst steward of this IP.
This just - again - goes to show, that WG isn´t interested in making this game balanced by updating older ships that the players struggled to get by investing lots of time in grinding ressources. They just pump out new premium stuff that will be outdated after 1 or 2 years. The constant question for me is... why am I doing this still after having played since Open Beta?
I think they need to do som qol upgrades to the yamato hull. Make it slightly faster rudder, make turrets much faster, maybe reduce the citadel a little. Yamato is statisticly the worst tier10 ship.
Only ship i advise getting from Steel is Mecklen, Shiki is bad due to superships, Ruggiero has terrible DPM, Incomparable is a large pile of shit, and IDK why but Bourgogne guns only seem able to pen tier 8's nowadays.
Randomness as a balancing mechanic sucks. Period. It becomes even more problematic for an artillery game like this where 'aim' is a supposed to be a skill factor. They've dug this hole so deep now, they can't get out of it, not without destroying a lot of released ships or massively overhauling overmatch, reload times, or other factors.

The secondaries could really use an accuracy buff. They already kinda work, but more accuracy would improve the ship overall
Why would a person get the Shikishima when the Satsuma is right there?
If u don't want to loose 400k credits every time you bring out a 508mm BB, you're thinking of shiki and incomp
Different tiers and one is a super ship.
@@mkasrey7365 I love playing my Satsuma. But I don't get many games in it because it cost so much.
For every one game of the Satsuma, I need an amazing game in the prinz Eugene
@@mkasrey7365it’s more worth it however. Since Satsuma is more accurate, has more guns and can even defend itself more with its secondaries
Its average damage is way ahead of Yamato and only just behind Patrie, Satsuma and Bourgogne.
Armor is honestly not that bad, it just has a couple weird spots where you should bounce but it just takes full pens.
she has pros and cons for sure, depending on your playstyle, she can be one of the best. =)

He mostly don't know what is he talking about. Like best cruiser for him is Wooster..dude Wooster in 2024 is really NOT the best cruiser.
I think it's something about two gun, large caliber turrets. I don't have Shikishima, but I do have a Georgia, and it's the most infuriating thing in the world to play. When those guns hit, they kill everything. It's just that they don't connect more often than they do.
Love to see Austin. Does AA defense expert cools down the reload button? Does this make it worth the four point investment?
Steel-DDs and Coal-DDs would be extremely nice to see updated reviews for 2024 from you PQ! :)
Besides, thank you a lot for all your vids, at least 90% of them are insanely helpful for new or newish players.
Totally agree, except I'd rather have Steel camo than FDR or Gato 🙂
I'm trying to decide which steel ship to pick out. Here are my options: Stalingrad, Incomparable, FDR, or Mecklenburg.
Mecklenburg is BEST. FDR most broken.
Pick Shikishima. I love mine.
I would love to see the incomparable video. I would love to get some BB for steel, but not Bourgogne, as french BB's do not suits me well
Slava would be an interesting overview!
Shikishima might not be the best pick gameplay-wise, but Yamato and Satsuma are not direct replacements for it, not for a casual player.
yeah let's go through all steel BBs for now, love your vids PQ
Giving it just ever so slightly better base dispersion (like 5%), a slightly longer reload, and the Bungo spotter plane is probably the right place for this ship to be in.
That's too much. The bingo spotter should not be given to high alpha bb's. Imagine it on Columbo or lauria
The Shikishima already has better dispersion than Yamato. Its base dispersion is equalt to that of Yamato with legendary mod.
I was pleasantly surprised when I bought this ship. I have way better matches in Shiki than I do I do Yamato with legendary mod. I can't explain why. I also notice that other players tend to fear the Shiki and modify their tactics where in Yamato they just treat it like an average BB.
Love the videos mate, keep the great content up!
_Initially I felt like Shikishima was worse than Yamato leg mod_
Fun fact: Shikishima actually has Yamato's legendary mod baked in.
Wait. There was a secondary gun rework?
@Sunshrine2 well a commander skill rework. It was beneficial to some ships. But also real bad for ships like seigfried and shikishima.
Elbing with mod legend next please
After Bourgogne, Ragnar, Staliniumgrad and Lauria i still don't know what to take next.
If not this one, than Incomparable with range module?
Shiki kind of reminds me of Lauria nowadays. If you get good RNG, then you just smash ships for ungodly damage at any angle. Basically like the containers/loot boxes in-game.
Yam hull doesn't need a gun upgrade to make it more competative. Remove the hull cheek, no other buffs. It will be one of the best BB's in game, even in CB and KotS.
They need to reduce the amount of damage that can be done through the super structure and deck. Feels like most BB armor is irrelevant since everyone just shoots through your top and you die.
Since you're doing the steel ships, I'd like to see you run the gato
Dunno if you read my comment on last video or not but thanks for the updated look on Shikishima will not get.
I got it because I wanted a premium Japanese battleship without spending money. Plus I already bought Bourgogne.
Please do reviews on steel DDs
You get to play one captain on multiple ships. That is why premium ships are worth it.
after watching this video
Me: you know what? I'm gonna buy the Shiki even harder now
Is there anyone else like me a big fan of shikashima s camo? Back in the days permanent camo on tier 10 cost 5000 dubs, then you could play it with no worry of losing coin, thats why i chose to buy shikashima, better camo than yamato and then as premium i am not losing coin to play it
Let's compare the Yamato and Shikishima.
AP Salvo Alpha damage and DPM:
Yamato - 133,200 and 266,400 DPM
Shikishima - 116,400 and 258,667
Dispersion:
Yamato - Hor. 170m Ver. 96m
Shikishima - Hor. 158m Ver. 89m
Penetration at 12km:
Yamato - 629mm
Shikishima - 613mm
Using Shiki over Yamato means you are getting less pen, less alpha in your broadside, and less DPM in exchange for a faster reload and slightly better dispersion.
With Yamato you get the same dispersion (with legmod) but worse DPM, or better DPM but worse dispersion (with MBM3)
6 guns can definitely feel worse from salvo to salvo than 9 guns, but many people are bad at collating statistics over a large number of salvos.
@@cardboardsnail Thought that’s what I said. Yamato is more flexible. You can either have better DPM than Shiki if you take reload mod or you can have lower DPM but juicier salvos with higher penetration values and a heavier broadside with the same dispersion as shiki if you take leg mod.
I'm a coop main, shikashima has a place in asemetrics. Super ships costs in coop are just to high.
Like playing it when I was tired and not willing to think, just let overmatch do the work lol😂
I was thinking about getting the Shikishima for a long time, the fact that it plays exactly like a Yamato and the fact that I don't enjoy Yammy that much, plus the release of the Fatsuma makes getting this ship pointless.
Salem please. I'd recommend you play Salem next. How it works out in 2024
Honestly, I find these guns sound like a soccer ball being fired out of a big metal can. 😁
I think the best sounding guns are of Lion / Conqueror / Duncan.
I would love to see you go over steel DDs or really just any DDs.
He is no DD player... case closed.
You definitely need to do good or you need a combination of premium and economic bonuses because 400k credits plus shell cost isn't sustainable if you're just an average broke player.
maybe WG could add the same spotting plane as on Bungo
If you haven’t played Japanese bbs in a while, it takes a few days to get in the zone.
If you are spending the steel, incomparable is a much better pick, same gun sounds, a highly unique gameplay (like its got better conceal than 1/2 my T10 cruisers) and just memes harder than shiki. Sad but shiki just gets outshined by other options
Ok but are you gonna play Incomparable now? It's a direct contrast to Shikishima.
For me, i really enjoy the shikishima. I feel like whichever point I'm supporting is stable and that the ships i fire at activity react to me, by angling or evading. That's ideal! Drawing their attention, splitting their mental processing power, means team mates can find openings. Those guns strike fear, and fearful opponents are a bit more predictable imo.
the Problem with the Satsuma is its expensiv . even just going for a drive costs alot . i do like Shiki i havent had many Kraken yet even after 3l+ games but Shiki is one of them .
you even bounce withe fudging incomp ..
Definetely sound is cool, but it gets boring quick when you don't hit stuff. ;)
Its average damage is way ahead of Yamato and only just behind Patrie, Satsuma and Bourgogne.
@@EvoraGT430Only, becuase it is steel ship and on average better players get to play Shikishima. Yamato is better and with Satsuma i do not need it.
I remember the time I got 5 cits in a St. Vincent with a Montana
Even on Satsuma I would’ve preferred 12 18” guns over the 8 20”
I want to get a cruiser, tier 10 with coal . Which one you recommend me to get? I have already Napoli and moskva
Salem if you like island play style
Problem with Satsuma is two fold. Extremely expensive to play even with credit boosters and a good game and, not able to run them every clan season.
It's pretty, looks amazing, I'm probably going to get it anyway
What are the best steel ships to get right now?
do the lauria, i've not seened any content about it yet I think
reminds of the collingwood at t7
that ship is probably the worst t7 bb in the game, except when RNG smiles on you and you get a triple cit and nuke a cruiser from full HP
collingwood has the worst armor I've ever seen, absolutely abysmal accuracy, and is very slow. But it gets hydro and a reload booster and 75% pen repair.
Not me just wanting you to say "San Loowee"
Dude this is one of few BBs I am really scared of. These guns just rips your ship in half when it hits. I mostly don't care about you beloved Bourgogne, cos it has no overmatch so I just angle and I am fine or mostly people play it to shoot HE on 20km... Can't much angle against Shikishima..
“We’re gonna have a lot of damage in this game” proceeds to score a whopping 1940 on a broadside Mogami (yes, I know, it was turning away)
Sometimes Mother Nature is really a glitch in the matrix
Also, I’d like to have that St Louis RNG
Could we get Austin with the new 4 point as skill.
I have to agree, not worth the steel. However everytime Im in a game with one Im wary of its location and my angle to it, been slapped so many times by it from across the map. Still not getting it.
Incomp next?
I miss the old Shikishima secondary build
I always get better games with Shiki than with Yamato (leg mod) or Musashi
In airship escort i spec full secondary + close quarters, that gives a 19 second reload Shikishima (imagine adding furious to that)
Potato NEVER alternating to HE even at DDs/angled enemies (shiki has excellent HE shells), fails to mention FAR superior economics to silver-stealing Satsuma, doesn't instantly explode like Incomparable when hit, and has better secondaries/AA than Yamato in a 2024 CV prolific game (same hull, NOT same deck).
Doesn't Vermont far outclass every other BB right now?
This just - again - goes to show, that WG isn´t interested in making this game balanced by updating older ships that the players struggled to get by investing lots of time in grinding ressources. They just pump out new premium stuff that will be outdated after 1 or 2 years. The constant question for me is... why am I doing this still after having played since Open Beta?
Don't let the "poor" performance by Shikishima distract you from the fact that this Super Unicum Saint Louis got sunk 18min into the game...
As a musashi owner, why get any of these gimmick ships when i have improved credit income gimmick sushi
stalin play stalin
I think they need to do som qol upgrades to the yamato hull. Make it slightly faster rudder, make turrets much faster, maybe reduce the citadel a little. Yamato is statisticly the worst tier10 ship.
play like a Yamato while this ship is not, try sec build on that thing play on medium range that when this ship shine.
Only ship i advise getting from Steel is Mecklen, Shiki is bad due to superships, Ruggiero has terrible DPM, Incomparable is a large pile of shit, and IDK why but Bourgogne guns only seem able to pen tier 8's nowadays.
Why waste steel on Shikishima when you have Yamato, Bungo and Satsuma
Can we see you play the English version the Incomparable
Link to your mods?
Randomness as a balancing mechanic sucks. Period. It becomes even more problematic for an artillery game like this where 'aim' is a supposed to be a skill factor.
They've dug this hole so deep now, they can't get out of it, not without destroying a lot of released ships or massively overhauling overmatch, reload times, or other factors.
