  • Following a useful comment on my last update from Joe Lupinacci, I decided to look at how I can make some of my industries more secure by adding something sharp to the fences.

Hi Steve, that barbed wire looks great. It's certainly something worth baring in mind if we ever need to add some to our layout. Speaking of our layout, you have caught my grandson's latest. He's really gone to town with the stop-motion animation. We've actually chanced our arms and left the comments on. There's that much going on. I had to watch it several times to see all the movements he's done. I missed the people getting on the bus, the woman and child walking down the road, and the couple crossing the zebra crossing 🙄 I was to busy watching the vehicles moving. Dylan was very impressed with the barbed wire ... Cheers James 🙂👍

Hiya. I have watched it and loved it. I will go back and leave a comment. I need to rematch it as I missed some of the smaller stuff as was concentrating on the cars etc

@thebritishrailroader Hi Steve, pleased you enjoyed it, I did the same concentrated on the vehicles and got into trouble for missing the people moving about 🙄😁👍

Something like brown panel line wash would take down the shine a notch, highlight the details, and make it blend in.
Don't forget to leave some bits of plastic shopping bags stuck in the wire - those tend to get wind-tossed and usually end up stuck to the wires, along with clear plastic from pallet wrapping, or dry cleaners bags.

Cheers mate. I have something like that and I will give it a go. I will try and get some rubbish caught on it 👍

    G'day Steve,
Nice going on the razor wire, it certainly looks the part !
In the past, modellers used cotton with small dabs of PVA along the thread. I attempted this once and it takes many hours to complete. This is why I use the fibreglass fly screen mesh for barbed wire on my fences as it is readily available.
    Cheers, Gary.

Cheers mate. That sounds quite time consuming. I would even put it up there with ballasting which as you know, is my favourite job on the railway 😉. Nice to see you settling in to your new home. Can't wait to see the layout up and running again.
      Steve

@@thebritishrailroader Thanks mate, I'm liking the new home. By the way, if you are planning a trip to Oz soon, I'll keep any ballasting for you to complete ! 😉😆
      Cheers, Gary.

Industrial areas?! HA! My apartment building had it on the fence around the back yards too.
