Thank you for not taking the time to destroy the man but to acknowledge the things he’s done well
Everything you're saying, describes the Isshin Ryu punch.
Truth
Many thanks for this video about the giant Steven. Steven is my superhero, my Idol, he is the best!, many thanks from ARGENTINA!. 🙂😉
Well, it reminds me more of a karate punch, straight line, fast tate tsuki. After all, Steven trained in karate as well. Later he added the Wing Chun/ Chinese martial arts to his arsenal. All in all, great video 🍻
Aikido has Atemi waza (punching techniques).
Steven Seagull cross trained with one of my instructors back in the 90s under Guro Dan Inosanto who was Bruce Lee's student and best friend. If you remember the stick fight in Out for Justice in the pool hall. Plus he has been learning from Samuel Kwok in Wing Chun.
Dan inosanto does Escrima which is Philippino stick fighting Bruce does Jeet kune do.. it's like saying Elton John did a song with Eminem that makes Elton a Rapper lol..or Mike Tyson was in Ip Man so now he knows wing chun 😮🙄 stop and think about it.
You might want to check your spelling shengchenfan.
@@Chineseboxingjkd Are you sure you are a jkd practitioner? Of course Guro Dan does FMA and Silat but from 1964 up until Bruce Lee left for Hong Kong to pursue his movie career, Bruce left Guro Dan in charge of his Los Angeles school until Bruce told him to close the school and teach out his backyard. I seriously doubt that you even know JKD and can't get your history right.
So I guess the takeaway overall is: try to stay out of range of the other guy's punches but then move in close when it comes your time to punch (him) ?
You guys ROCK as always love it keep it up 🤠
I did martial arts over 30yrs ago, my family on my dad's side were boxers.....golden gloves at one time or another. My dad's family come from County kerry in 40s, bare knuckle boxing, shillaghes were common. I started a martial art an managed to get a blackbelt....went on to work the doors in the 80s. One thing I found out real quickly, katas and set training sequence don't work in real world. The jab you discussed is common in bare knuckle boxing, many a time that kind of jab finished a confrontation quickly. The knowledge was passed on to boxing by my kin. No telegraph of the shoulder or body language give aways.
I always assumed they just speeded up the video a bit in his movie punch scenes. I guess the way to tell if he really punches that fast would be to talk to some of the cast and crew from his films and ask about that matter. ?
He's actually that fast. Seen him do it even at 70. In the Jesse Enkamp interview, Seagal was very quick and refined with his hands, even at a relaxed pace. People love to talk shit because his training methods didn't suit UFC, but the guy is a 100% legit as a martial artist in his own domain.
I respect the man as an aikido master. But he's a very weird guy.
looks faster cos hes walking/pulling them into the shot
He doesn't...He does the 3 same moves ..a block, wrist twist. Then flips em... hahaha
Is your dojo getting reopened?
Seagal sensei's Tenshin Gakuen Bugei uses a punch very similar to Okinawa Isshin Ryu
So, no looping overhand right? Definitely more Wing Chung than boxing.
3:45 man, what a great shot. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of that.
Hey bro , thanks ،Can you upload the Farsi language in the translations?
Wing Chung punch is fast
Japanese Ninjutsu also punches in this way, straight punch without rotating the fist, using body weight to strike.
Punches like that are used in Bando. I noticed that Bruce Lee would often times punch like that and sometimes he would throw the Haymaker when the opponent wasn't aware or had his guard down.
What are you talking about? Bruce does not throw punches like Seagal Bruce throws from the hip like a boxer he even says so in interviews.. Bruce does Jeet Kune Do/Chinese Boxing.. think about it
It's a modified Wing Chun punching method.
No its not
When discussing Segal's straight punnch, you said, "It's easier to get a nice, big, flat block to punch straight in." My concern about what you demonstrated is that the first finger joint could hit bone - like a chin. Am I overly concerned about a non-issue? Please take a moment and clarify? Many thanks.
I believe you have a valid concern but, when you use the vertical fist, you should punch with the first 2 knuckles so that you reduce the risk of damaging your hand. I don't know if that answers your question but that's all I have for you.
god steven is so ridiculously silly.
Step up and tell him face to face.. not some dumbass comment on a UA-cam he'll probably never see
I agree.. I like his fighting style, but he's a very strange person.
It is a whipping action off the waves of fat.
When asked during a seminar how he punches so fast he replied, "I imagine someone is trying to steal my donut!" 😳
Another goofy guy with a ridiculous uneducated comment 🤦
Where is this park in London at.
I don't think they're going to reveal that...
Triceps = speed power
nope. speed comes from neuro-muscular integration, power from technique, triceps itself is only responsible for slow force
You guys are obsessed with Steven Seagal lol. Yep I took up Aikido after watching "Nico" too
So obsessed they have tunnel vision and are deluded 😂
@@Chineseboxingjkd Nope. They have the intelligence & critical thinking skills to be able to separate Steven Seagal the martial artist from the cult of Seagal , and that is a rare thing
Man you need some Black Rifle Coffee to wake you up. Steven Seagal punch slow.
You might want to check your spelling.😂
@@shengchenfan You need to detox. You're full of bull ish. That's why you're talking it.
one BIG block ?? that be new... very new... what i use to hear is 2 small knuckles : index and middle... i also heard of using the arse... rotate foreward, launch.... rotate backward, retard... they call it hip twist... thy arse are thee hip right.... what about kicks?? i mean... the world cup is all about kicking right... you punch... red card gotten right?....
thing is, he was never that fast. compared to a lightweight boxer, a decent wing chun person or especially an eskima practitioner he just does a few showy chain punches.
Steve Seagal doesn't punch fast 😮 you two do not punch fast.. also comparing Bruce lee Steve Seagal is ridiculous. The philosophy of Jeet Kune Do is completely different to Aikido EG: you said Bruce Lee jumped forward to punch 😮 No he never, he pushed from his rear foot to move forward to strike, also he used his hips for the power of the punch in the same way boxer do. Steve Seagal strikes from his shoulders never engaging his hips and even then the punches are Not!! fast and his chin is always exposed. If you seriously think Steve Seagal is fast how fast is Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Michael jai white and Bruce Lee?
Pro fighters and Dutch strikers that trained with Seagal in the past stated he is very fast and strong.
Steven segal is not the right guy to talk about.
Great video didn’t expect you to post this
You guys ever have someone think you are really fighting and interrupt or call the police?
Great video. Steven is the man. I've had the privilege of training with him in Austalia. 100% the real deal.
Excellent video guys. God bless and thanx for the great info.
I Had No idea Idris Elba And Goldie were friends and they practice Martial Arts!!!! 🙃🙃🙃
I’ve noticed there are a lot of segal haters on the internet calling him a fake .
Not according to you two guys 👍 I always thought he was the real deal
whoever says he is fake is a moron lol ; the man is a legitimate 7th black belt in Aikido. he's the source/inspiration for the creation of this channel :)
Mee too
Very primary principle of KungFu described here!
He just trained some martial arts: karate, jeetkunedo and kali.
You cant see the punches coming at you when someone punches straight like that. Its very difficult
Will Farrel, is that you?
You were funny in Stepbrothers.
The Catalina Winemixer when you sang was lit.
The British accent is good
There always has to be some “expert”.
Roll with the punches like Steven Segal and Aikidoflow.
Nice good job, that what i do I CALL IT AIKICHUN
The slomo is on the WRONG PART. We need to see the punches, not the falling. Never thought I'd be whinging about a punch reaction video but here we are.
Hi what could I do if I came up against someone like you guys
After he's hit he breakfalls?
Here is a little secret. Seagal does not practice pure Aikido. He mixes the Wing Chun straight Blast with Aikido.
He punches from his centerline, using vertical punches (from Wing Chun).
Kudos to Aikidoflow for this amazing content! @Aikidoflow, you guys couldn't make a video on O Sensei Morihei Ueshiba's atemi techniques, could you?
That is JEET Kune Do. Strong side forward with a straight blast.
Thanks
Exactly 💯 He applies Wing Chun punches with the same straight back and solid core of Aikido. It's a very Japanese approach to Chinese punches, and it works. It's also important to note that this style of punch is safer for the hand and wrist than conventional boxing punches and has slightly better reach. It won't be quite as powerful and it lacks the variety of angles that boxing provides, but it does have speed, penetration, and less chance to break your hand mid fight. It's a great move to stun someone with while you're transitioning into another grappling attack.
Interesting analysis, but I kept waiting to actually see Steven Seagal punching.
