This looks like a great game. Your teaching is clear and concise while being informative of all aspects of the game that could effect gameplay. Thank you.
I think that at the start of the race you must play at gear 1. When you discard cards on step 8, you may discard cards from your hand also, but you may not discard heat and stress cards from you hand this way. Slipstream is optional, but if you choose to use it, you must move all additional spaces, you cannot use slipstream and move only 1 additional space.
I have not seen a rule that you skip the 'select gear' step at the start of the game. Everyone starts with doing all the steps, meaning we start by selecting what gear we are in for the 1st round with the initial gear in 1 - so basically as the video showed. Which makes sense both thematically and strategically imo. For the other 2 points you are correct. You can, before replenishing back to 7, discard any number of cards from your hand - except any card that has the 'cannot be discarded icon' (X on a bin - those are stress cards, heat cards and some advanced upgrades) And there is no rule for slipstream that says "UP TO x spaces". The rule is that is optional, but you move 2 spaces. So, I would agree that if you choose to use slipstream, you cannot move less than the required spaces (unless of course you have 2 cars on the end space)
At the end of your turn, you can discard as well whichever cards are left in your hand (that are not heat or stress cards), along with the cards just played. You didn't show this interesting possibility to open up your hand to new cards, maybe more interesting than the previous ones.
23'41'' I don't think it's up to you to decide to stop before the corner: if you take the +2 slipstream: you must spend it in it's entirety or not take it at all - unless you're blocked, which is not the case. You should have taken the basic slipstream and NOT the +2 advantage, since it brings you beyond the corner line.
ah nice, thank you for this comment. until now, i didn't notice that the slipstream in weather was optional and you can not use it if you want and only use the basic +2... rules are clear, it doesn't have an (!) icon and it says "you may add x extra spaces to the usual 2"

A nice teaching video, Brad. 👍I have just ordered this game after waiting 5 months for it to come back into stock.
Thank You

I see that keep finding those mistakes thank you. It’s optional to move but you are correct it’s a move 2 not up to 2 spaces.
@@BadatBoardgames Thank you for this excellent video, anyway. It is very well done and a very good introduction to the game. Congratulations !
@@Jerome_et_Ishtar Thank You Jerome and Thank You for helping correct missed items for others that watch the video.

Nice teaching video. Q: are there rules for being rammed of track or collisions during the race?
Thank you, No collisions or ramming in Heat. That might be another game.
You are bad at board games.
1:05 That's seven heat cards in your hand, not six.
Lol
