I don't play online much because I don't have much time to play like I used to. Just got my wheel set up after moving into my new place and this update made racing against AI so much fun again. GT3 in the Merc at Donnington was a blast
That’s great to hear, I’m also a more offline player due to time and it’s nice to be able to have good races now. I’ll try the Merc at Donnington , it’s my go to gt3 now :)
I use AMS 2 for only AI racing and although they still aren't 100% there, my lord the improvement is insane the AI racing is now so much fun, also great video VR looks like incredible fun in AMS 2
Yeah, I had a spectacular race at the weekend in VR. The AI seems much more aware of itself, but also more intelligently aggressive. I was more of a menace than it was.
I mean, yesterday i did V10s gen2 F1 50% race at Spa, AI 105 max agresivity and man… i had a blast. They do still weirdly brake check at some apexes, but overall experience with my camera movement setting are amazing. Loving this game so much, hope they will add even more tracks, or rework the multiplayer. If there is strong multiplayer base, it will be killer for other simulators
Thank you Manic Miner :) the visor is just an overlay mod I add in the video editor. I don’t actually see it in game. You can find them on race department, just search visor overlays and it should pop up
Haha yes they do still give some shunts from the rear. From more playing time I’ve had some really good battles where the Ai break earlier and try a switch back, just when I think I’ve got the lead then come on the inside and take it back. Makes a change from the last 9 months 🤣
Hello Will ... new sub here and agree with everything you say. I only sim (drive and fly) in VR - so pretty much confined to AMS2 for the time being since it's the only decent VR offering. AI (especially at Bathurst for some reason ... bloody Aussies!!) have been nut cases up until now ... for sure they still like to take you from behind (!?!) now and again but they are much better overall. On a side note ... I'm in the process of upgrading PC from 2080super based to a new 13th Gen I9 4090 which will still be HP Reverb G2 for a while. What would you recommend after the G2 ? Cheers from Melbourne 😀
👋 That’s great to hear you’re enjoying it. Bathurst is a bad track for me, I am almost as much of a liability around there as the Ai previously was 😆 I went to a quest pro from the reverb and couldn’t be happier but if I’m honest I would personally wait as the g2 is still extremely good. The crystal and big screen beyond look very good but for +1k id personally wait for some solid 3 month reviews. The g2 is still a great headset for the price :)
I get the same but in the video editor I zoom in about 1.25x and then move the image to the left. I tend to sit back more in game so it doesn’t looks too close when I zoom in.
I enjoyed the video and the humour, one minor piece of constructive criticism is that you speak v.quickly and it can be hard to make you out if you aren't used to the accent. Cheers!
I agree with that comment. It's an accent/speed I am well used to and have no trouble understanding, but if you went a bit slower it would make your commentary more impactful. Nice video though. Subscribed.
Hi! As I notice you're driving with the helmet view in VR, do you also notice a huge FPS drop, or is it fixed in 1.5? I haven't checked 1.5 yet, but I have an i7, an RTX 4090, and a Reverb G2, and the helmet view easily drops 20 FPS. Thanks!
Hi Salvatore, the mask you see is just an overlay I add in the video editing process. It’s just an image that is placed over the video. I don’t use the helmet cam in game so I can’t answer your question sorry. I hope you find a remedy though :)
What is your AI settings that you speak of that give you the feeling of them being intelligent? I always set my AI aggressive to medium and yet continue getting ramp from behind causing me to sway and turn around. I never have to worry about this in the previous version.....this 1.5 seems to go backward?
I play with medium now and sometimes low depending on the track. Tighter British circuits I set it lower due to the bunching up. Try setting it to low as I find they are still defensive and aggressive enough but not enough to decapitate you car
AI is greatly improved but theres still some work to be done but ive had some good AI races so far. I had some issues with the formula ultimate AI, which is a bummer. I much prefer the formula cars in ASMR2 than lets say codemasters f1. Beware going down Kemmel into Les Combes on Spa, the AI will just hard brake randomly in the middle of the track and I died to it 2 times trying to do a 30 lap race. Got a pretty good clip sending Bottas to the moon from it tho.
I agree yes. They are not perfect but much improved from previously. They can still hit you from behind occasionally and they also spin far to easy from tiny touches. The formulas are great too :) hopefully they fix out those issues with a few hot fixes. I know there was a few in the 1.5 but they ironed out a couple in the 1.5.0.2 version 🤞
Haha that’s very true, I’ve had some good races in AC but they definitely drive like they stole the cars. I know there is a mod to change racing lines in tracks but I’ve never tried it myself. But yes AMS2 AI is finally good :)
I’m with you on that. 1.5 should be the starting point of bringing players over but without multiplayer it could soon be short lived. Fingers crossed improvements come soon :)
I disagree. They can and it would be nice if they do, but a sim's sole purpose isn't and shouldn't be multiplayer. If we had one that did it all, sure, but that's not the market. I'd rather have one where the dev are focused on the solo or lobby experience on top of solid foundation, tyre models and overall physics. To me, and many others, MP is not prio. It would be unfair to say a SIM lives or does based on its MP.
If you don't care for Standalone and if you want to play stuff like ACC I would get the Pro. With DFR and Open XR ACC finaly looks/runs really good. I have a Pro paired with a 4090 and you can pretty much run everything at max settings. I'm waiting for either Samsung or Valve's next headset to upgrade and I'm not upgrading to anything with a higher res until we get 5090's so I can run a Comfortable 90 FPS at High Settings like I am right now. If you ask me eye tracking is the key to run these resource hungry sims in VR but we currently don't have enough headsets out there with it so not all sims support it...
Tires have too much grip on the majority of cars. The devs have already said they’ll be a tweak soon. The group c Sauber drivers like a gt3 car, full throttle at apex, not realistic
Supporter of AMS2 since pre- release. Very satisfying to finally see larger acceptance and positive footage. 🙏🏽
I’m with you :) it’s good to see more and. Ore enjoying it now

great vid mate, of course I absolutely agree, still cant wait for lemans WOOOHHOOO
I’m with you! Some practice endurance racing is needed :)
@@WillOnWheels ok, well we can start that next time if you wish
Nice review and I agree on AI improvements in AMS2 💥
Thank you JZ :)

Great video, thanks for sharing. Loving the 1.5 update. How do you get Hackett on your visor without the helmet blocking the rest of your view?
Thank you Manic Miner :) the visor is just an overlay mod I add in the video editor. I don’t actually see it in game. You can find them on race department, just search visor overlays and it should pop up
The gt3 merc is my fav around nords ,,,,the gt4 maclaren feel real good now, you can feel everything from the ffb
Sorry martin I missed this. I haven't tried the Gt4 variant yet but will give it a shot :)
I've noticed the same with the ai! Although the last race I just had I got a healthy shove from an ai, but that was likely a bit my fault too :)
Haha yes they do still give some shunts from the rear. From more playing time I’ve had some really good battles where the Ai break earlier and try a switch back, just when I think I’ve got the lead then come on the inside and take it back. Makes a change from the last 9 months 🤣

When recording in VR. How do you keep the screen centered? When I use Oculus mirror it's using the left or the right eye
I get the same but in the video editor I zoom in about 1.25x and then move the image to the left. I tend to sit back more in game so it doesn’t looks too close when I zoom in.

And the great news is the 1.5 physics update also applies to the mods as well... from what I heard.
This is great to hear. I haven’t reinstalled them yet but will check it out very soon!

Try Tykki dirt 2 in a Thunderstorm on your Pro. It's incredible...
I’ll give it a shot :)
Reiza's next big update needs to focus on multiplayer. A sim lives and dies on multiplayer and AMS2 needs online ranking ala iracing.
I’m with you on that. 1.5 should be the starting point of bringing players over but without multiplayer it could soon be short lived. Fingers crossed improvements come soon :)

I have doubts whether to buy Meta Quest Pro or wait for the Meta Quest 3, what do you think?
I’d wait for the reviews first personally. I’m really happy with the pro but you might be able to save some money if the quest 3 is good enough

Downloaded and feel the car floaty and hard to lose the rear
100%
Best update ever 😁
