      And thank you if you can ask your friends about Chinese school life 🤭 actually I’m a Chinese drama fan , so I’m so excited to know about them too!
      thank you so much for your kind reply! 🫶🏼

      Hi Annie! Oh I got lucky I arrived right on time for the Opera show. But there is a schedule that you can check on their Wechat page if you want to plan ahead 🤗 just type the museum name on wechat, and find their official page. There should be more details about the programs :)

    How much cash would you suggest I bring to China for a 8 days trip?

    • @VirginiaPalette
      @VirginiaPalette  6 місяців тому +2

      Hi Clarice,
      It depends on what you want to do, your hotel budget, and how many cities you want to visit, etc. China is big.
      If you just plan to stay in Guangzhou, I think 15 000 or 20 000 is enough.
      Hotel is probably going to be the most expensive expenses, but you can find cheap with Airbnb and smaller hotel.
      Food is reactively cheap if you stick with chinese food. You can always find affordable food in convenient store or waimai.
      Tourist attractions such as Guangzhou tower can be quite pricey.
      Transportation is cheap, clean and convenient. Taxi is pretty cheap too, and you can do even cheaper by doing carpooling (but you will need to have a decent level of reading chinese), you can rent bike for small trip, very cheap as well.
      Museums are often affordable, and some of them are even free.
      Again, I am talking for Guangzhou. If you go to Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, everything is more expensive.
      If you plan to visit around China, you may consider bringing more money, because train is quite pricey particularly if you move around a lot (GZ - XiAn 224 rmb in 28 hours), but it is still cheaper than airplane for sure, and slower.
      Otherwise, you can try to attach your mastercard/visa with Alipay and pay. You will be taken some commission depending on the amount but it is more convenient than looking for ATM machine.
      Hope you will enjoy your trip ! Have fun ☺️

    hello! did you use any sort of vpn while traveling to guangzhou?

    • @VirginiaPalette
      @VirginiaPalette  4 місяці тому

      Hello,
      If I am visiting anywhere, I use baidu GPS, xiaohongshu (to look for trendy places), so I have my VPN turned off because it slower the signal. Otherwise, I use VPN daily, to access to UA-cam, Instagram, WhatsApp, Google, etc :)

      @@VirginiaPalettewhat vpn did you use?

    • @VirginiaPalette
      @VirginiaPalette  4 місяці тому

      I use a local VPN called ShadowRocket, it’s cheap but it’s quite complimented to buy and install.
      If you are not tech savvy, I would recommend Astrill to you. It’s widely used in the expats community :)

      @@VirginiaPalettethank you so much! i heard guangzhou was a tricky area to use vpn so i was scared bc a lot of vpns i wanted to use there did not work, tysm!!

    • @VirginiaPalette
      @VirginiaPalette  4 місяці тому +1

      @@kellyzhang2309 Not just Guangzhou, it was tricky in whole China 🤭. Before there were lots of VPN that worked in China (even free ones), but in the 2020s, every VPN had to sign an agreement with the government. Many didn’t sign because it didn’t align with their values, so nowadays, there are only a few remaining, and all have to be paid to access.
      You’re welcome! Enjoy China 😘
