Santiago Oaks Regional Park MTB - Grasshopper Trail

I put my brand new Trek Marlin 8 Gen 3 to the test on a trail that I thought was a green line trail. Turns out the trail is actually rated as blue/intermediate on mtbproject.com (I’m the newbiest of newbs in the world of mtb) and I chickened out on a couple of steep downhills/drop sections along the way. Regardless, it turned out to be a great ride after the scary parts for working on my mountain biking skills.

great place to ride in OC. i used to live in the neighborhood where you started out from. a good loop is to ride up to Robbers roost (rock?) and ride Barham Ridge to Chutes Ridge.

Thats super sick dude! I moved into the neighborhood back in 2020 but then moved again to Utah for school for about a year and a half so I never got the chance to really check out our backyard haha.
And I see what’s called “Robber’s Peak” on Trailforks, if that’s what you’re talking about. Noted, will be sure to check that one out next time. Appreciate the input, friend, and happy new year!

Santiago Oaks is a great place to build your skills. Grasshopper at speed is so much fun. I’m currently #2 fastest for the year at 50 years old and on a Hardtail.
