    In this video, we look at translocation in the phloem. First we explore what is meant by a source and a sink. We then explore how active loading of sucrose into the phloem takes place in the source and how this leads to mass flow of assimilates in the phloem. Finally, we look at the evidence for this active model of translocation.

    Sir, you look more amazing than before and I love the new animations and everything! You deserve a Nobel Award for teaching millions of students in short amount of time that takes on average of 5 hours. In adittion, you are securing our future! I will pray for your long life. Did I mentioned you look like my grandfather... sadly he is no longer with me but you remind me of him constantly...

      Hi. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad that you're finding my videos useful. I'm now around 45% of the way through both Biology and Chemistry A level, so I'm nearly finished the AS content.

    4:24 Hello Shaun, one question, could it also be, because of the reduced water potential of the cells in the sink and therefore the increase W.P. in the phloem, that water ALSO moves into the cells in the sink?

    Hi sir, I am a big fan of your videos but I wonder how you manage to provide these videos for free. Do you make money from ads?

    • @Freesciencelessons
      @Freesciencelessons  Рік тому +13

      Hi. I produce all the videos entirely by myself with no staff at all. The ads provide an income. I also sell workbooks. Together these allow me to provide the videos for free. I'm glad that you like them.

    i dont understand..where do the hydrogen ions come from

    • @Freesciencelessons
      @Freesciencelessons  9 місяців тому +2

      Hydrogen ions are naturally present in the cytoplasm due to the splitting of water molecules.
