Gamzee is actually a pretty sad character, he is a bard of rage, bards are about passive destruction and corruption, hé tried to be a good person, hé tries to destroy the rage that was corrupting him by eating slime pie (basically doing drug) but when he realised it was his fate to be a chaotic being who would destroy everything, he embraced his nature and accepted it, I'm pretty sure he suffered from lying to himself on who he really was and someday he was done with suffering and decided tu fully become The bard of rage hé always was
Gamzee is not a bad person, he tried to avoid The unavoidable but his fate and his classpect forced him to do what he does

I saw this comment when I first started reading homestuck but after I read it to the point your talking about (and almost finished), I think it would've been more scary if i hadn't known. Though, I wouldn't have seen it scary since throughout the comic, hes used as comic relief and kills the characters that were disliked, or even ones that weren't given any development/weren't planned to give any development.

I was exposed to this song before i knew homestuck and i didn't even *know* this was a homestuck fan song... I heard it around the internet around 9 to 12 years of age never knowing. my brother finally got me to read homestuck at the age of 15 and i got into the fandom... and i came across this song. now i know what the lyrics mean. I am even more terrifyed of this song, but im mostly blown away with the revelation- holy crap, this is giving me like, nostalgia but... a bad kind of nostalgia? ok maybe not nostalgia- its a feeling of horrifying realization and dread

It is stated many times in the web comics that highbloods (blue shades and up) are naturally more violent. It has also been stated that the Makaras are all insane. Take Kurloz as an example, he is calmer and much more subtle, but he has the same psychopathic motives as Gamzee. The sopor pies and faygo kept him essentially tranquillized so he never really showed his true nature before he ran out.

my favorite part of this song is how it's difficult to tell if gamzee is talking to himself, someone else is talking to him, or gamzee is talking to someone else. and the lyrics are really confusing or dont make sense like "i and also i will be your gods" i think its supposed to show how gamzee cant even tell if hes really himself and the vague confusion and scariness of the song also replicates that as well

I remember when little 13-year-old me thought this song was so scary, but would listen to it anyway and eventually memorized it xD Now it's just kind of nostalgic (and edgy) for me. Also at the time I hadn't gotten to that point in Homestuck, so now I realized the song is actually somewhat inaccurate to the canon since the song kind of implies that Gamzee killed Tav.
