The other day I was walking through Target (a store chain in the US) and heard Michael/INXS singing “What you need” and the song made me want to dance & then remembered I was shopping and not at a club Lol! So I smiled .... and went on with my shopping. Thank you for your music,!!! 20 years later and still loving all the songs 😎🎤👏🏼
Same thing happened to me shopping last weekend. INXS on their speakers singing "What You Need," too. I found myself lip syncing and dancing around. I'm 65 now, but didn't give one damn about anyone that saw me enjoying this fantastic music. There's something about their music that makes you want to MOVE. I love it!
He sure is a brilliant musician. He known what kind of new music would make us dance, and sing. Him and Michael were a great match. Andrew did the music and Michael wrote the songs. Thank you so much INXS ❤👩🏻🦼🇦🇺

I wish they could have had that milestone of making it into a new decade/century That would have meant they were an active group in 4 decades (70s, 80s, 90s, 00s) and having released music in 3 decades (80s, 90s, 00s) I know that with a new frontman they did release music in the 2000s but I wish Michael had made it to that milestone like how U2 did
They are all so gifted and have mastered their craft to its peek....absolutely brilliant!! I haven't got enough great positive words to describe them..... INXS a rock phenomenon! 💙
She was perfect for him. Loved him with all her heart. Just before his death they had big plans, including having one more daughter. His TBI was his downfall. It was much worse than they thought. They were a very under rated band. All very clever accomplished musicians, led by a very charismatic, and amazing singer, who unfortunately due to no fault of his own , had something that happened to him unexpectedly, which led to his early passing.God bless Hutch!
I don't think they were underated . They were the biggest band in the world during the late 80's / early 90's. They sound better today than back then even. I highly rate INXS!!
Just stumbled on this. Michael is so intuitive and smart, all of them, I can't believe he had this kind of death. Great interview. Feels like I'm in the room. God bless them. Love your music
Thank you, I listen to INXS all the time, MH was bigger than life, it is great that he gave us tons of great music that never seems to bore me. It always sounds fresh, it is indeed timeless.
I agree. She surely was the worst decision he had ever made in his entire life. Even if she was witty or seemingly understood the life of a rock star, she was nevertheless a married woman with 3 kids. He really shouldn't have done anything with her...
I am almost positive, if Paula had left him alone and focused on the husband she promised to love and the three children she already had, that he would still be here today. 😪

Poor Michael Hutchence hasn't seen anybody in 25 years. I think part of him wanted Fame and part of him could not handle it. Would Michael Hutchence be alive today if he weren't a rock and roll star? And I'm sure they all tried to help, but from what's being said amongst the remaining INXS Band members, he would only let the guys in on so much, and when they got too close, Michael would sort of back off, and ask them how they were doing as opposed to his own troubles. Unfortunately the timing was wrong in alot of ways. For example, John Farriss was going through his divorce, Gary "Garry" Beers was having an affair with Shelly Preston, the back up singer during INXS's Elegantly Wasted World Tour in 1997, they shared a baby, etc. Kirk Pengilly had got divorced, Andrew Farriss had a near tragedy with their baby daughter, and the Farriss brothers lost their mother, and Tim Farriss wasn't happy with anything during this whole period according to what he has said in the past, and Tim said, "He was just drinking himself into oblivion during the whole tour. He and Michael weren't on good terms from their fight etc. Tim Farriss said he wished INXS in hindsight, had just taken a break and gone back to their farms in Australia and isolate themselves from the rest of the world and sort their issues and the band out. And lastly we all know how much, & how bad of a situation and Headspace that Michael Hutchence was in during this whole period of time. So yeah. Gese, I didn't hear that. Such a shame. All I hear or see on the news lately is corona virus crap. And people living their lives in fear, thinking the world is ending.
I can see why you would think this would be in 1997. But I believe that this was in fact 1996. 25 September, 1996. Around the same time of the 1996 ARIA Awards.
An engrossing but rather bleak video to watch in hindsight, knowing as we do how things panned out. I mean, Elegantly Wasted; what were they thinking? Michael is right, of course, to criticise the "British music scene" of 1996 for it's retrograde obsession with the sixties and it's grim output of lumpy old pub rock that, in 2020, has aged horribly. But then what was Elegantly Wasted meant to be? He describes it as being "fresh" when, in fact, it's anything but. Forward thinking? Ground breaking? Not a chance. The album challenges not a single musical convention and is wholly predictable, drab and bland. A shame, because the band's previous two offerings (1992's 'Welcome To Wherever You Are' and 93's 'Full Moon, Dirty Hearts') whilst flawed, offered signs of reinvention and progression. At least those two albums contained attempts at experimentation and a willingness to evolve. 1994 single 'The Strangest Party' was also a strong release and is undoubtedly the point at which they should have called it a day. Alas, they decided to return seven years later only to find the landscape had shifted beyond recognition and the ability to adapt was beyond them. Not to harp on about Elegantly Wasted, but it really is stunningly bad. "What were you thinking?!" is the first thought that preoccupied me both then and now. From the awful title, to the subpar material. Then there's the bewildering artwork and video concepts. Band members dressed up as highway patrolmen, fluorescent muscle cars, flashbacks to a mysterious raid in the desert. Was any of this ever explained? Who thought it was a good idea? Were the band supposed to be playing characters, or were they still INXS? Baffling. We find them on the defensive throughout this interview, batting away questions about being has-beens and, understandably, voicing strong criticisms of the British press. Hutchence, though clearly unhinged, is bullish. However, do I detect a glimmer of fear in the eyes of Tim Farriss? Almost as if he knows the endeavour on which they are about to embark is folly. Whilst glad to be back in the spotlight he doesn't believe in the new songs. The choruses don't measure up to those of old yet, as a non-songwriter, he's helpless to intervene. He gamely talks up their chances but, deep down, I think he knows which way things are headed. Poor Tim. In fact, Poor INXS.

Couldn't disagree more...I'd say EW is one of Inxs best albums.
@@davidstewart4310 Really? I listened to it again, for the first time in years, after watching this video last week and was still baffled. Which of the tracks on the album stand out for you?
@@davidstewart4310 I think so too, I love EW, great album !
The title track is one of their best songs!
I really loved that album too.
