Part of me does as well, but at the same time I'm kicking myself for deleting so many projects when I was in school to save space on the 70 GB hard drive I had to work with. If I could only do one thing when going back in time it'd be to take a pen drive and archive all the old animations, songs, and digital doodles I made in middle school. I unwittingly burned away my heritage, and the kicker is I never really made it to the cap of the drive. I thought you'd just throw stuff away once you were done with it.
When I was a kid, my parents got mad whenever I set the computer up with a screensaver that made noise. I did it to be funny once and that night, my dad couldn't figure out where all the rushing water and bubbling noises came from and it started to freak everyone out lol
Thank you guys for bringing back memories! Best years of my life when I was exploring my very first PC and those screensavers. There was definitely some magic in them. ;)
Oh wow. I remember these. As a kid I stared at them for several minutes before I did anything else on the computer. They were so cool. There is another I remember, maybe not for this computer, that showed pictures being painted. One was a bowl of fruit, and another was a starry cityscape, I think. And one that my cousin had was stars flying at the screen and eyes sometimes appearing in the middle of the stars.
I loved the haunted house when I was a kid. I always made my friends to look out for a rat or screamed: "Oh, a ghost!" when it appeared :D This little thing gave me so much fun. Back when playing with Paint or Word seemed the coolest thing on the earth for a 5-year-old. Nostalgia...
It's amazing how such simple things on computers kept us entertained back then, and by comparison how much we take for granted on today's computers and phones
Right? It's crazy how much times change. It's like old games. We look back on stuff from our childhood - polygons or pixels, depending on how long ago it was - and it's an incredible sense of nostalgia, thinking holy crap, THIS is what I spent so many long nights playing as a kid? Kids today will never understand, and I guess that's the way it is as the torch gets passed each time. Kids these days have GTA: Online and Fortnite (ugh), but back in my day, you could cut glass with Tomb Raider's tits! And it was the greatest thing ever back in the day. Meanwhile today's kids would look at those games as though they were made in the stone ages, or in another dimension.
The pipes, the space and the maze were all screensavers when you walked into your computer room late at night and it was just so peaceful to watch for a few minutes before heading back to bed
SuperTed19021 You can still set up a screen saver (an actual one, not just the computer going into sleep mode), just type "Screensaver" into the Windows search bar and the option should come up. They don't have any defaults that make noise, and they replaced Pipes with Ribbons, but there are still a few options. Or if you don't like the defaults and you can find a website that isn't full of viruses, you could download some.
what's funny is that half of these have static non moving pictures & completely negate what a screensaver is supposed to do: *save the screen* . The aquarium one would make a burn-in with the corals.
I remember my dad got a new pc, and we were checking out the settings. There were options like a jungle theme, which made everything green and with jungle sounds. And there were these awesome screensavers. I mean, before this we had the pipes, maze and spirals. This was amazing stuff back then. Kinda weird to realise hoe fast this technology has evolved.
I remember I used to just sit on the chair and just watch screensavers to pass time, especially when we couldn't use the internet 😅😅😅 altough I didn't spend much time in the internet back in those days, I spent most of my time playing with the discs my mom bought for me, like crayola art studio, there was also a MC Donalds game for CD, God I miss those days
I used to love the underwater one as I used to love watching the little seahorse pop up. The flying windows, 3d pipes, 3d maze, sports, nature, travel, starfield and Garfield ones were nice too.
The owl and the door in the haunted house got me every time. I love them extra themes and screensavers for 98. This brought me back to my early childhood
Good times! My Grandfather had an old HP pc, with Windows 98, I used to asked them first before jumping in. It had underwater sounds and animated fish! Unfortunately, times were changing. My grandfather passed away in 2005 due to old age. We had to get rid of that old PC as we moved from California. But still... good times!
That fish screensaver was always one of my favorites after the 3D maze, as a little kid i would always sit at my grandma's computer and watch them just move across the screen.
That jungle one terrified me. (I was a pathetic child) a teacher had it and wouldn’t change it, sending me into hysterics. Eventually, I started faking illnesses that would only last as long as her class. It worked perfectly until my mom happened to be at the school one day and caught me.
My first favorite screen saver is Mistery & Leonardo Da Vinchi 3D drawings and second under water in ex Windows 98 and Pentium 2 ( Desktop computer )! :D
i remembered as a kid i used to be scared of the astronaut one cause of the sudden sounds that came out of nowhere. i decided to see if i was still scared of it. i dont think i am but i definitely still get goosebumps
LOL, I love how back in the 90's screensaver designers never seemed to figure out that some atmospheric background noise was needed between the sound clips for it to sound natural.
My two favorites were the haunted house and the fish. I had to turn off the fish, though, because I'd watch the screen saver to see what was coming onto the screen next instead of getting work done. LOL
Despite having Windows XP and Windows 7 computers in my house, my family still had a Windows 98 computer and it always had that spaceman screensaver. For some reason it scared me as a little kid but now I'd say the "it's now safe to turn off your computer" still creeps me a bit.
I have been searching for a screensaver that reminded me of the original StarFox. It was a bird, glider, or plane of some kind flying around and over hills/mountains. It was very polygonal and looked like a video game.
Does anyone know the name of the interactive screensaver (?) from the 2000s wherein you're in some kind of environment and you could click around and you'd zoom forward/backward to where you clicked? It was like a tunnel and you can go to different bizarre places. You end up back at the same place though since they're all connected.
even the best companies don't need any bump on video this short, seriously... it's so egotistical to tell s who we're watching for extremely short video sequences of someone else's creations lol
I miss how simple and humble computers used to be...

Yeah, than came the dreaded smartphone...a computer you never have to put down...
Until bsod and porn virus bcus u downloaded a song from limewire lol.
FW911 well - even software developers did this with source code - we were all loopy back then.
How can you miss something less advanced?

hahaha
Nice hhh
Hahahaha
That’s nothing! I had a Toy Story screensaver with sound and it drove everybody crazy! The LGM would constantly go “moo...”
Classic!!! lmao
Thank you guys for bringing back memories!

I really do miss the pipes.
+TechLunch STUDiOS I guess that they thought that nobody would care or notice, but we did and we do. ;)
who?
There are websites that have it for download.
Did you ever notice the teapot, kettle or coffee pot instead of those ball joints? I often wondered who thought that one up.
I saved all tge screen savers on windows 10 because fuck microsoft
2:40 every doctor's appointment i go to i see this screensaver back in the days
WAVY my teacher had that one. i had it on my windows me pc that actually got stolen from me a few months ago.
I didn’t exist back then :/
I remember seeing that screensaver back in Montessori school and preschool!!😊😊
I was also in Montessori
And every receptionists had either the pipe or the maze screensavers

the haunted house creeped me out when i was little

I also used to think that the owl has a mustache.
And the best part was having to use Microsoft word-art for school projects! :D making words all rainbow and 3d and wavy lol
You have one of the Beatles as your profile picture.

Wow... The haunted house one scared me so bad when I was little.
Me too when i was a kid!!!!
LeadingNowhere me too :D
Lol mee too
They all scared me. I remember running from the monitor.
yeah me too
I was so blown away by the underwater one as a little kid. The haunted house one is pretty nostalgic to..

my fav was the underwater, I would spend hours watching those fish! (since Internet was soo slow XD)
lol
almierae yeah it was so calm
that was my tv when i was little
Haha yeah
Thanks for the video. This brings me back to my childhood 😊
I remember the haunted house. The memories. The nostalgia...
I used to watch these all the time. Thank you so much for posting these!
It's a shame windows don't have fancy screen savers anymore
BrazCoolZ sadly true
It is a shame. I was just saying that one another video. The computer just turns itself off until you repress the power button. Times change, I guess.

I don't think modern screens really suffer from burn in so there's no need for a screensaver?
@@CormanoWild *Interesting!* The screen and usage stayed the same back then. So I dunno.

the fish one really brought some deeply buried memories back

So awesome. Space and flying windows were my favorites back in the day.
3D Maze was always my favorite

how old were you in 90)?
I remember a haunted house
I was 5 years old and I was afraid of this screensaver)

God, this makes me sad. I wish I could go back
Back when Windows screensavers were cool and very pleasant to watch.
The maze = *stuff of intriguing and creepy legend!*
I used to love the underwater one as I used to love watching the little seahorse pop up. The flying windows, 3d pipes, 3d maze, sports, nature, travel, starfield and Garfield ones were nice too.

Take me back to 2000 😭
Every time I look at those screensavers I think, I wish they were all games.
When I was little, I use to believe that there was a secret way to play the screensavers as games hahaha
Teacher or their assistant turns your head away from the screen! 😁

1:53 WOAH that gave me a nostalgia rush
I loved the ocean one best. Would sit and watch it for hours lol. Gosh I do miss the 90s and early 2000s
Thanks for putting this up😢 my childhood memories❤
That fish screensaver was always one of my favorites after the 3D maze, as a little kid i would always sit at my grandma's computer and watch them just move across the screen.
Me too.
The space screensaver was scarier than the haunted house one
They need to bring these screen savers back.
I *guess* you can download them for your PC somehow if you wanted to.
That Era was GOLDEN where I want to go back & would never come Back if it was possible 😇😇
So many memories, I just wish we could get these as screen savers on modern computers, especially the Mystery House I miss this so much.
That jungle one terrified me. (I was a pathetic child) a teacher had it and wouldn’t change it, sending me into hysterics. Eventually, I started faking illnesses that would only last as long as her class. It worked perfectly until my mom happened to be at the school one day and caught me.
I'm homesick. "The bottom of the sea" makes an impression most in the screen saver.
Wonderful
Wicked nostalgy from that fish-screensavers sound
Makes me want to go scuba diving with the fish!
I learned about computers with Windows 98. I love this screensaver so much.
FACT : Screen savers of yesteryears are better than content of today !
I remember setting up all night just to watch the maze screensaver oh how I wish I still had it in windows 7
I used to think that under the sea one was amazing. How things change!
I like the space one and the haunted house one.
These remind me of my school days being in the library or computer lab. Good times
Anyone else misses screensavers all of a sudden?
I LOVED the space screensaver!! I thought I'd never see it again!!! BTW, I subbed!
One screen saver I remember was of going through a maze. And at times it would run into something that would turn the maze upside down.
What about 3D Maze
Remember them all.
The Underwater theme was my mom's favorite while I loved the Mystery theme. Ahh, nostalgia ^_^
