Both are referenced in the music when you go over the chord progressions. Bach during the verses and Tom Ze during the chorus. I love that the lyrics are about neither but are about NASA in the 60s. This song is genius on many levels.
Thanks for posting this. I always thought this was an amazingly beautiful song up there with the best of Lennon-McCartney and Brian Wilson. I mean, if you listen it's Tom Ze-Steely Dan-Stereolab in pop music perfection.
@@evannewman8381 yeah I know. "Cookie Bay" being the most obvious. Just as Sean is on a bunch of the Stereolab albums....I always considered them(Stereolab/High Llamas)like a "family" collaboration.
Just listen to Stereolab. Then Francoise Hardy, the Beatles (pre-1967) and the Beach Boys. Also Tortoise...but they do get into a Minimalsit thing which I love but some don't like.

Underrated band that deserved more attention ❤️
Probably the most beautiful thing ever.

I bought this CD a while back,. And have fond memories of this song. Wondering if this is Mary Hansen on vocal here, cause it sure sounds like her...
@@coadmiller5010 It is! She and Laetitia are all over this album

great band..awesome arrangements!
Love this song. Great video.
Damn, that's great. Too bad there isn't many more stuff by the around here. Can anyone upload a live video? That would be awesome!
What helps it sound "Stereolabish" actually...is that Mary Hansen is singing with Sean on here. Miss her.... : (
Mary and Laetitia are on a few songs on the album

From moon to Mars
The slightest slip
But now we rarely make the trip
The skyline change
May draw them to the park
With pencils sharp
Competing for a view
It's almost summer now
But winter for a few
From moon to Mars
The slightest slip
But now we rarely make the trip
A run to space could save the South/sound
There must be stuff worth seeking out
Ba ba ba ba
Ba ba ba ba
