LOL. So I play the game in 16:9 with black bars instead of their half-assed 21:9. I wonder how much space will be taken up by black bars with a 32:9 haha.
32:9 makes sense because those are two displays but without bezels. How much sense it makes for gaming, I don't know, 21:9 is already wide enough to make you unable to focus on the entire screen and edges of the screen are outside of your main vision, so I don't know if even more width will be of any use. But I am very interested to see how it will look. I am not getting anything wider, that's for certain, maybe I will consider 37.5" ultrawide once there is any reason to upgrade from 3440x1440 IPS, this would have to be OLED or at least fully HDR compatible display.
As of now in the future, you can buy a 1440p ultrawide monitor for 20 dollars. I have three on my desk right now. Only problem is that you get forced ads playing every thirty minutes...
Holy Ssssugar, 32:9 @ 144 is damn impressive - but to be honest i'm still deeply in love with my 21:9 X34 - but hey not ruling nothing out for the future !! TY for the heads up, Si
Fucking sucks i just got 3 new monitors, i should have gone with a clean ultrawide or two. tho if one monitor breaks for 800€ then you will have to spend 800 more, if one of three breaks for 300 then all you gotta do is spend 300 xd
Hmm.. thanks for the idea. It is very tempting, and that pricepoint, you got lucky man! :) Yet i feel i might need it since i do some photoshoping, vegas editing etc.
***** I have a 21:9. It would be great to have 21:10 or 21:12. A lot of 16:9 stands don't rotate btw and 4:3 monitors suck. BurkusCat Yeah I liked the ratio of the surface I just want more width.
It'd definitely have less support than 21:9 considering it's two 16:9 monitors side by side. Something that'd only work in racing games and side scrollers since you have a giant bezel cutting your character or aim-reticle in half in majority of games.
That's what people with 16:9 say. Once you go widescreen you never go back. It's MUCH more immersive than a single 16:9 or 2-3 separate monitors. Also - workspace.
I've had my 21:9 monitor now for about 3 weeks and i truly love it. i bought the benq 35inch 144hz. its not the best by far but yea ur right i could never go back.
21:9 is the perfect form factor, productivity wise. The only place i see an improvement possible is more pixels and if 34 is not enough a 39" or 41" will more than suffice. A 4k variant (5120x3840) would be as much as one can want.
question: is there a software that lets you bend and curve the displayed picture to make it more realistic for those of us who like to sit very close to a wide screen? thx
it's cool and all that, but since almost all Games get tailored for Consoles, 21:9 support is already bad or not even an option.. going wider will still work in some Games. I just hope the Game Developers see that there is demand and opportunity, since Nvidia 10series came out with Ansel, it will probably work quite well with these widths and curves.. So despite that I hate Samsung, I do appreciate their effort for us Widesceeners. With that being said, they will be way too expensive, apart from some enthusiast, no one is going to spend much money on it, since productivity work on a curved Monitor (i remember hearing 1800r) is more a chore than fun, plus these are VA panels.. add Samsungs horrid color-accuracy to it, it will be a flop. Apart from some Gamers with too much money to spend, and they more likely buy just another X34, no one is going to buy them.. Still I like their effort, someone has to start something like this..
Im definitely considering grabbing one of those 32:9 monitors.
What is the point, no movies are made in anything above 21:9 anyway and I can guarantee very few games will support it. Maybe for programmers?
"no movies are made in anything above 21:9"
?
70mm films are to say a few
kalapuikko A gain in height is more useful at this point than width
Ryan V lol, i see ur point xP
Most of the games that "support" 21:9 are programmed to recognize every resolution, they should work fine with these screens.
Might be great for simracing, as it is probably very close to the aspect ratio of real windscreens.
Blizzard:" we feel like 21:9 gives you a "competitive advantage" "
What will they say about 32:9 ?
LOL. So I play the game in 16:9 with black bars instead of their half-assed 21:9. I wonder how much space will be taken up by black bars with a 32:9 haha.
MrShackleford DONT MAKE ME THINK ABOUT IT, it's horrifying !
4:3 15 FPS gaming with no advantages !!! This is how I see such claims.
+MrShackleford Exactly the half, since 32:9 is like 2 16:9 monitors next to each other.
5:4 360p 15fps *

I just want a cheaper 1440p ultrawide :c
Alex Cheetah I want a high refresh 3840x1600 :(
As of now in the future, you can buy a 1440p ultrawide monitor for 20 dollars. I have three on my desk right now. Only problem is that you get forced ads playing every thirty minutes...
I dont care how unpractical it is, I JUST WANT IT NOW!!!!
Can't wait for a 69:9 curved display where the monitor is all around you.
Great for productivity
Guess I know what im saving for
Holy Ssssugar, 32:9 @ 144 is damn impressive - but to be honest i'm still deeply in love with my 21:9 X34 - but hey not ruling nothing out for the future !! TY for the heads up, Si
so they gonna try to sell us half(horizontally) of a 4k monitor for quadruple the price??
and nvidia surround just died out xd
amd eyefinity died too.
Fucking sucks i just got 3 new monitors, i should have gone with a clean ultrawide or two.
tho if one monitor breaks for 800€ then you will have to spend 800 more, if one of three breaks for 300 then all you gotta do is spend 300 xd
ItzStoffe sell 'em. i got an ultrawide lg monitor used for 180 bucks (34 inch, 3440x1440 res)
Hmm.. thanks for the idea. It is very tempting, and that pricepoint, you got lucky man! :) Yet i feel i might need it since i do some photoshoping, vegas editing etc.
Yeah i got very lucky. Maybe you can find one on ebay
black bars, black bars everywhere
FIRST... to say it's probably going to be expensive.
Well...time to rob a bank I guess?
and here I am still using a 29" 2560x1080 with no free/gsync, no 1440 res, no HDR...
i'm using a 22 inch 1680x1050 an lg from 2006 :D
oh God... but can you reach 60 fps?
So, 3840x1080 is it techncally a 4K screen? Because of that 3840 horizontal pixel count.
So 32 by 9 monitors avilable for now at the store?
These larger monitors seem a bit too large.
I hope they aren't going much bigger than 32:9 can a 1080ti power that many pixels anyway?
yeah like PSPKriz says its such a low resolution that it actually will be extremely easy to run
can you just let me have top of the line things for a year??
Productivity wise I'd rather see an increase in height at this point in stead of width.
Ryan V please rotate your 16:9 screen, or get a cheap 4:3 monitor from ebay
Palaash Atri still maintaining the width...
The Surface went for a 3:2 aspect ratio.
***** I have a 21:9. It would be great to have 21:10 or 21:12. A lot of 16:9 stands don't rotate btw and 4:3 monitors suck.
BurkusCat
Yeah I liked the ratio of the surface I just want more width.
woah, its been a long time since i saw those + reference!
That hitman gameplay is gorgeous. I bought hitman but haven't played it yet, I think i'll go for it now!
PickeringSamuel wait, u bought hitman but never played it? man that game is now over an year and a half old!
Who cares, I buy games that are 2 years old because it's cheaper and mostly likely patched up.
when you look at the size of the LG 34UC79G, what it will the ideal to sit in front of it?
I mean the ideal distance between your face and the monitor: 1 meter; 1,30 meter... Did you understand the my question?
80-110cm
thanks. better get me a measuring tape to do the math. thanks,
just put a your arm in front of the screen and slightly touch it with a middle finger, ideal distance
thanks. this mens that my current desk is ideal for it. many thanks man, it helps.
just googled this a day befire i saw this
32:9 isn't it too much?
well if you have 2 16:9 monitors it's effectively 32:9 but without the ugly bezels
It'd definitely have less support than 21:9 considering it's two 16:9 monitors side by side. Something that'd only work in racing games and side scrollers since you have a giant bezel cutting your character or aim-reticle in half in majority of games.
It's two monitors into one.
21:9 is already well overkill so anything above is just stupid.
Tommi Honkonen True
depends on the game. first person shooters probably wouldnt get much benefit from this aspect but i could see rts/rpg and sim games benefiting a lot.
That's what people with 16:9 say. Once you go widescreen you never go back. It's MUCH more immersive than a single 16:9 or 2-3 separate monitors. Also - workspace.

but but ,, i just got my 21:9 last week
Don't worry, 21:9 is the perfect resolution. Movies fit without black bars.
I genuinely feel bad for you...But for now, 21:9 is perfect
question: is there a software that lets you bend and curve the displayed picture to make it more realistic for those of us who like to sit very close to a wide screen? thx

Sorry but Samsung makes one of worst color accurate monitors out there. You have to spend extra money just to color correct it with gear bois.
KrekerisT Quantum dot tho...
KrekerisT
no shit if you buy a 100$ samsung monitor
