My favorite Spanky single. Years later their former producer Jerry Ross (Sunday Will Never Be The Same) was asked if he produced this gem. His response - "No, and I wish I had!" BTW - mono single version rules here. Great mix that hides the punch-in's of the violins prior to the guitar and vocals outro.
67 AND 68 WE'RE the BEST YEARS in music in my opinion followed by 71 and 72 at 10 year OLD in 67 i ALWAYS waited to hear this WITH Sundays on my transistor radio but for some reason i dont remember them playing it that often spankie was a pretty GOOD LOOKING women in 67
@@jackieguccione94 Well, it's close to how I look. 😁(It's an AI-generated image, but I am an old man with long white hair, a beard, and glasses.) I was/am a huge fan of Spanky and Our Gang. I believe Spanky is still with us, and I send her my love. I hope you'll do the same. She made a huge difference in many lives, including mine.
That is the most out-of-this-world ending - it is now and when I first heard this song in 1968. At 2:07 just listen to the wonderful arrangement and harmony.
Spanky & Our Gang were directly inspired by The Mamas & Papas. In the 1980's, when John Phillips reformed The Mamas & The Papas with Denny Doherty, Elaine "Spanky" McFarland filled in for the deceased Mama Cass. MacKenzie Phillips filled in for Michelle Phillips.

The summer of 1968 for the group and the song.
A forever classic. Timeless. Lovely love song. This is the history of rock and roll!
Yes.
Thank you so much for this project. It means the world to me.
My pleasure! Glad to know that you're enjoying the music. :-)
Co-producer/arranger Bob Dorough later helped create ABC’s “Schoolhouse Rock” block of musical animated shorts!!!
Was the other producer Rhonan O' Rhiley sounds a lot like his style.

Lyrics:
But I’d like to get to know you (Yes, I would)
But I’d like to get to know you (If I could)
But I’d like to get to know you
Finally I’ve found
Searching all around
Just was not the answer
One I thought was true
Looked a bit like you
I figured I’d might chance her
But I’d like to get to know you (Yes, I would)
But I’d like to get to know you (If I could)
But i’d like to get to know you
Hardly need to say
She went on her way
Said it was all over
Well, it’s been some time
And I guess that I’m just meant to be a
Rover
But I’d like to get to know you (Yes, I would)
Yes, I’d like to get to know you (If I could)
Well, I can’t promise that I’ll spend a day with you
I can’t promise that I’ll find a way with you
I can’t promise
No, I can’t promise that I’ll love you
But I’d like to get to know you (Yes, I would)
Yes, I’d like to get to know you (If I could)
I’d like to get to know you, know you, know
I’d like to get to know you, know you, know
I’d like to get to know you, know you, know
Yes, I’d like to get to know you, know you, know
[ instrumental ]
What’s all about her
What’s all about her
But i’d like to get to know you (Yes, I would)
But I’d like to get to know you (If I could)
But I’d like to get to know you (Yes, I would)
But I’d like to get to know you (If I could)
But I’d like to get to know you (Yes, I would)
But I’d like to get to know you (If I could)……
