socialism is collective ownership of industry. In reality, socialism/communism means government ownership but it also falls into collectives and the like where groups own industry. You will _never_ find a person from a socialist country arguing that socialism works.
You just did.
Older guy doesn’t understand his own political beliefs.
Kirk also contradicts himself. Preaches about republic's being better than non republics but then complains about a system developed by the same republic he preaches about. Claims taxes is socialist but doesnt understand taxes isnt related to socialism but has been apart of this republic for a long time and he and others like him are free to move to a tax free country meaning he chooses to pay taxes like you do. He also doesn't understand SSI isnt the same as SSDI since he complains about the two as if they are the same thing and funded by the same thing. SSI pays $57b per year to everyone on it which is a faction of 1% of our GDP and EBT alone is also a fraction of 1% of our GDP and combined is prob still under 1% but SSDI is $1.5trillion which is paid from peoples wages, not from the GDP like SSI is.
I think Charlies arguement is that the government is inefficient with our tax dollars which is why our taxes are so high.
@@stuart3712 he says income tax is not socialist at 0:08
i don't think Kirk has preached about republics being better than non-republics in this video. at one point when the suggestion was to leave the country when you don't like the system, some "non-republics" actually prevent people from leaving the country. his example was Cuba. i'd would present North Korea. the old man suggested Russia to be a republic as some sort of a bad example of one. though towards the end, the old man seems to believe in Russia's healthcare more than the US's as if he flew to Russia and had is acidosis treated there. it's incredible that his blood pH is at 6 and he was just shoo'd away. normal blood pH is around 7.4 and the threshold for acidosis is pH of 7.35. it actually does have a treatment, and if he did go to the doctor, he'd know about it and would have been able to answer Kirk's question.
Kirk complains about specific departments and programs, and disagrees with big government in general. despite that, he's not an anarchist and still believes in some government. someone has to build the roads, establish a police, and service utilities after all. an effective market economy can only exist with the proper legislature and courts.
Most old left/liberals like him don't. They did too many drugs when they were younger and there were no real expectations of them, so their overall understanding of basic politics, economics, history, etc. is totally addled.

Capitalism = economic system consisting of three things:
- Private ownership
- Voluntary transactions
- Market-based pricing
Socialism = economic system where the 'people' own the means of production
- The "people" always devolves to the "government," so the govt owns the means of production.
- If the 'people' (i.e., govt) own it, it means *YOU DO NOT.* You don't own your labor; you don't own what you make. *YOU'RE A SLAVE.*
- There is no way for the 'people' to manage the means of production, so it always devolves to a cadre of 'elites' managing it. It is a command economy. They decide what you have to buy (like health insurance) and what prices you have pay (minimum wage). They decide what products are made with the society's limited resources (EV mandates). They will decide what work you can do (labor unions).
The elites LOVE socialism because they stay in charge and the rest of the population becomes their slaves.

Because, believe it or not, CBC is actually fairly centrist. They lean to the left, but generally tell the story as it is. Contrast that with private news agencies that use their reach to influence people to do what best serves their company.
If you want to complain about CEOs taking undeserved bonuses, I'm in line with you.
This man just can not understand the difference between a voluntary donation and a forced extraction.
He seems to think that any govt is socialism.
Charlie Kirk is more socialist than me. ¡AFUERA!
He's just a little confused but he seems like a nice guy. Too bad he's probably also a voter 😂
I do appreciate the fact that they are having a discussion/debate without name called, and yelling.
It's scary to see people holding polarized views that they fundamentally do not understand.
He worked for the government, and they didn't give him "free" healthcare as part of a lavish retirement package? Fire that public union.
"you trust the government?"
"Of course I do!"
Bro.... 🤦♂️
But the same guy will say the country was founded on racism and slavery.
Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth.
Socialism is the equal distribution of poverty.
I am originally from Argentina, where I spent 30 years of my life. For the past seven years, I have been living legally in the United States. In those seven years, I achieved more than I ever could during my entire life in Argentina. I love my country, but socialism simply does not work.
Has it ever occured to you that it may be Argentina that does not work, not socialism?
Apparently that guy doesn't know what Socialism is. Could other people also be like him? They support Socialism without really understanding what Socialism is?
I respect that guy he disagreed but actually discussed without cursing and calling Charlie names like many do
The rule that you have to treat in a US emergency department is not the Hippocratic Oath, it's legislation known the Emergency Medical Treatment And Labor Act, or, EMTALA. Either way, it was interesting listening to this man's description of his ER experience because it's pretty common and stems from lack of understanding of what the Emergency Department is for. Quite simply, the emergency department is for treatment of emergencies and subsequent elevation of treatment & services through admission to the hospital or referral elsewhere if needed. Someone who receives a workup in the ER that is found to have no pathology or conditions that do not warrant or indicate treatment, then they should be discharged without treatment. This is exactly how it is supposed to work. It's not refusing to treat because the ER doesn't feel like it; it's because the patient presentation does not indicate treatment. There is such a thing as over treating, and any physician worth their salt knows that it's just as important to know when not to treat as it is to know when to treat. Regardless, emergency departments treat plenty of non-urgent or emergent conditions every single day. So the actual gripe on the process doesn't make much sense. Now worst case scenario, could the doc's treating the man have misdiagnosed the severity of the man's condition? Of course, happens often, and it's a major problem. But at the end of the day he is almost certainly exaggerating, lying, or misinformed on what his lab values and condition actually were during his ER visit or he would probably be dead.
How does this guy have the energy to interact with NPCs so often?
Bit of a worry that a former government worker thought Russia was a republic 😂
He definitely does NOT give the Gvt more tax money just because
Anytime someone says “I trust the government” ask them to blink twice if they need help!
“that’s because we give money to the church” like the government doesn’t take more.
I work for Macalistor oil, under contract with United Pacific, which is subsidized and holds an effective monopoly on the rail roads by the DOT.
I can tell you with 100% accuracy that the DOT is a completely bloated mess that gets in the way more than it helps.
The scary part is that man had a seeming position of importance, accounting payrol, in a US Federal Agency, but was not too intelligent. The .gov doesn't hire and retain the best and the brightest.
Good point! Canadian here and I have to say the majority of government employees I’ve met confirms my bias that government work is for people who couldn’t make it in the free market.
How did this old guy make it this far in life?
This guy is of the generation that did what they were supposed to do. Went to college, got a good job, family, blah, blah, blah, and was happy. Now he realizes that during that time the gov't was slowly screwing over the American public and now the chicken has come home to roost while he was playing the good little American and now the younger folks are screwed. Must be a lot of guilt and mental gymnastics to deal with.
He's a lonely ole man and Charlie was kind enough to talk to him 😁
His definition of Socialism is just taxes and crowdfunding.
I actually think this debate is great more people need to debate like this . Not like how most liberal start attacking
These old people that have no idea how the world works make me very uncomfortable
You went soft on him after all he is an old confused man. You are a gentleman Charlie.
He is a gentleman. Hes generally pretty respectful to dumb brainwashed people until they start disrespecting him which is a sign of a confident person.
Yes
When my son was in school the class was asked one day: "Can you define Socialism?" He put his hand up and said: "Everybody gets what nobody wants"! ☺ I have NO idea where he got that!! 😄
Old GUY WILL NEVER BE WEALTHY IF HE THINKS LIKE THIS.
The ONLY way a government employee would be fired is if it is the maid service that is hired to clean the toilets
