The fact that Austin dropped 3 potential TDs and still got 250yds and 2tds is wild
Foreshadowed his later problems with drops, but at the time, he was so fast and young and talented that it didn’t matter. It’s a shame injuries took their toll on him.

Larry Johnson and Marion Barber underrated RBs in the 00s 💯
Yes underrated indeed. Barber has hit some hard times after football. Apparently mental health issues? Too bad. As a Cowboys fan I loved the Barbarian. And Johnson was no slouch either.

I missed these uniforms in their absence. Even cooler though now we know dallas will wear these every year on thanksgiving again. ALSO they are going to be adding in new uniforms schemes. For instance the arctic cowboys uniforms they just showed off. I would like to see a reverse color scheme uniform too. Navy blue helmet, navy blue pants, silver or gray jersey. Just the throwbacks and a once or twice a year alternate would be cool.
I only like their regular home ones.
This game is so vivid in my memory and a staple moment of my childhood as a Cowboys fan, amazing upload!

Same here. It was my Senior year & I remembered thinking that we finally had a true number one receiver. Roy Williams was such a disappointment. I think 2 years later Dez Bryant was drafted
Do ya'll understand how HOT Miles Austin was? Ya'll think Odell was famous for the catch, Miles was able to gain that level of fame and then some without the help of social media. Dude ABSOLUTLEY blew up after this. It was a wild time.

Todd Haley, the Chiefs head coach here, was Miles Austin's WR coach in Dallas and taught Miles to run hard every time you catch the ball.
As a Chiefs fan I never forget miles ducking under a defender and scoring.
I specifically remember this game for some reason. Got Miles Austin paid though that’s for sure. 2009 seems like another world now.
This particular game proved that Tony Romo didn’t even need T.O. to win games. He can depend on receivers like Austin, Roy Williams, Jason Witten and Patrick Crayton

Don’t forget Sam Hurd! As much as people talk about Brady’s ability to make stars out of nobodies, Romo had that same ability to make guys like them look amazing, only for them to go to other teams and fail to produce. The one that stands out to me is Laurent Robinson 2011. He was a star on that team, leading all Dallas receivers with 11 TDs. Then he went to Jacksonville the next year and we never heard from him again. Which isn’t to diminish Robinson (he was a good player and I wish Dallas could have kept him a little longer, plus he went to Jacksonville, where careers go to die. See also: Lawrence, Trevor), but Romo could just make average or even above average guys look like world beaters.
This was the first Cowboys win at Kansas City since 1970!

I remember when I went to Dallas in November '95 for Thanksgiving with some friends. Who were from Dallas. We went to Traders Village. I bought this big ass radio. The Chiefs played Cowboys that year on Thanksgiving day.

I went to this game with my father at 15 years old and I found out that Cowboy fans roll deep. I'm not a Chiefs fan (From Kansas City) but I wanted them to win this particular game. The atmosphere was electric. Best game I've ever seen at Arrowhead
That's why they're called America's Team. Dallas is maybe 7 hours from KC by car. Not far at all.

@@herkyj since 2013 a rule has been in place where teams are only allowed one helmet crown per season which basically eliminated throwback/alternate uniform combos that required a different helmet (like this Dallas uniform)

@@chrisguerra2481 Probably because some owner got a stick up his ass at some point, wouldn't let it go, so the rest of them eventually just compromised. Seems like the way a lot of this obscure shit in the league goes, like how every bit of the 'taunting' penalty leads back to John Mara.
Miles Austin was already emerging before this game as he had some great plays in the first few games, but this, this was the one that made him famous to not just Cowboys fans, but to the whole league. The Romo to Austin connection was simply unstoppable that year. 2009 really looked like it was going to be the Cowboys’ year. With TO gone, the offense was finally starting to find itself again with a new superstar WR, Romo looked like a much more confident and mature QB, throwing only 10 Ints all year. The defense came on late in the year, posting back to back shutouts in the final weeks against division rivals. They beat the Eagles 3 times, who used to dominate Dallas in the 2000s. They beat the 13-0 Saints in their house. Everything looked set up perfectly for them. Then the divisional round happened. Ugh...well the end was the disappointing, but the ride was magical.
I miss miles Austin man 😭😭.

Ah yes, The game that decimated Roy Williams career.
I remember this like it was yesterday, this is no lie, I drafted Miles Austin accidentally with my last pick in FF that year. I went to scroll through receivers to take a flyer on but as soon as my pick came my cpu started freezing up, I just started hitting buttons but since it was alphabetically it was queued up on him and I accidentally picked him. Anyway I was going to immediately drop him but I thought what the hell maybe it was an omen and held onto him.
I kept holding onto him throughout the year all the while my friends mocked me for it and finally I said screw it and threw in the towel and dropped him. The very next game this happened and he immediately got claimed off waivers. I hoped it was just going to be a fluke game but he ended up putting up a bunch of great games after that. My friends and I still talk about the whole situation to this day.

Man seeing this game brings back so many memories. Miles was an animal back in his prime, Marion the Barbarian was the stuff of legends & oh how I miss DeMarcus Ware. Even Anthony Spencer was a beast too! I look back at this & it reminds me of how much talent we had on those teams. One that always gets me is Tashard Choice, dude had so much potential.
Barber went downhill at this point and I think it was his last year. Austin was always injured. Spencer was solid. Ware was great, the rest of the defense was inconsistent, and after 2009 was just bad.
This team had tip top talent like Romo, Ware, Witten, T.O., and when healthy Austin, a couple solid ones like barber, Spencer. But alot of trash players, that oline was just horrendous. Romo got sacked like 6 times and hit 16+ and had like 10+ broken tackles against vikings in playoffs. Running for his life, and the rest of the team played like trash.

Romo had a way of making middling recievers look like all pros....
Matt Cassel may have gotten off to a bad start with the Chiefs but he did make the playoffs the next year, with Jamal Charles having a career year, and Cassel making the Pro Bowl.
Cassel sucked that pro bowl season, coaching staff padded his stats in the red zone to increase td’s. Dude threw for under 60% completion and only 3100 yards.

I love those Cowboys throwbacks! Anywho, I may not be a Cowboys fan but I thought Miles Austin could've been a bigger talent. Apart from a couple years in Big D it never materialized for him.
What are you talking about? He went to the Pro Bowl twice. What else do you expect from a player that went undrafted from a small school?

Injuries and drops, that’s what did him in. He was never the same guy once his hamstring started getting to him. 2009 turned out to be the peak of his career. It’s sad but at least he did have his moment in the spotlight. We’ll always have the memories.
Put it into perspective, you know how Dallas has Lamb, Cooper, and Gallup today and it’s considered a virtually unstoppable receiving corps? Well in the late 2000s / early 2010s, it was supposed to be Dez Bryant, Austin, and Roy Williams. Dallas was supposed to score 40 points every week in their sleep. Only problem was two of those guys didn’t work out haha
Austin still holds the team mark(250) and before him it was held by Bob Hayes.

Roy Williams never got his starting job at WR back after this game.
Rarely would I ever say a player Especially a Wideout , saved a season but…..Without the breakout game and eventually breakout season of Miles Austin , the Cowboys are going nowhere that season and who knows how long it would’ve took Romo to get his first playoff win.
