As a designer, I very much appreciate your mentioning of typography and the specificity of their styles. I know it's such a small thing most people aren't familiar with to dive deeper into, but much appreciated when one does.
Oh man, what a beautiful watch! Makes me want to listen to jazz, smoke a cigar and bask in a beautiful sundown in Panama. It really feels like the kind of watch a refined 50’s jet setter would wear . P.S. Agreed on the colour, the grey one feels too “futuristic” and the black one just seem to loose the details.
I really like the aesthetics, and a deep blue dial with silver markers would be a winner i think. If that power reserve indicator was a second time zone indicator, they would really have an interesting business travel watch.
Off the bat, it's difficult to truly justify that price and make this an attractive piece that way. I'm not sure I'm as into it as you are, but I appreciate elements you've pointed out. The dial is nicely complexed but remains balanced. Individual aspects are arguably even slightly odd, but that gives it a quirk that goes with the vintage aesthetics. The cream is very good, but actually the black (steel) version looks very attractive too. I think this design works better with these harder contrasts, perhaps. I'm glad you pointed out the typography, because it's a daring ensemble and it pulls it off with grace. That's not easy. The crown seems to have a roundedness to the knurling. If my eyes don't deceive me, I actually find that Charlotte cake aesthetic quite congruent with the rest of the watch. The lugs indeed could have been slimmed more elegantly. They're fine if simple and chunky for the watch.
Just bought a MAEN manhattan 37 and happened to stumble across this watch and was instantly drawn to it. This will be on my wish list in the near future.
This is an example of Longines at their best. I hope they continue to return to the same well, it runs deep. Tudor has shown this 3-4.5k price range is a sweet spot for a lot of people. Note- I don’t buy new at full retail anymore. I would wait for a preowned watch at a good price. There’s going to be a lot of entries into this segment, it’s highly competitive. At this price point, manufactures are able to reference vintage pieces very convincingly, few have the kind of breadth within their back catalogue as Longines. I agree with the crown, though not likely a deal breaker for me and probably easier to wind than what I could imagine as being mor visually pleasing.
About 10 years ago, I bought a new Longines Conquest heritage (35mm) for well under £1000. For that price, it has been a great watch. I cannot see how this latest version is worth over 4000...
Love this and (almost) love the price! Why? Because it looks like the Swatch group might be trying to reposition Longines at a level that does more justice to the brand's heritage. The quality of this piece looks to be up there with other brands in this price bracket such as Tudor. We just haven't been used to paying as much for Longines in recent years, which is main the reason you might complain about the price for what you are getting in this watch compared to other luxury brands with similar historical pedigree. But if Omega and Tudor can charge what they can, Longines deserves to be on par.
Very nice, but what is the small squares besides the 9 and 3? Really disturbing for me… The price is also like $500 too much. Thanks for your great reviews!!
One of the nicest new-old-rerelease from Longines, but not nice at that price. More like $1k too much. Just because Swatch Group ‘can’ charge this doesn’t make it justified. Shame. Thanks for sharing Tim. 👍
It is nice, but I'm not sure if I want it at that price. Still I guess Longines know what they're doing because the only other dress watches I would get instead are other Longines watches.
Is it just me, or is this watch suddenly popping up on the radar of more than a few discerning folks in the watch world? (I'm thinking this might be the case for Longines in general.) Yes, the cream dial is The Choice, far-and-away, an I deem the price as fair. Good presentation.
A power reserve is pointless on an automatic watch. They could have made it useful, and the watch thinner, by making it manual wind. The cream one has better definition of the track around the power reserve. With that being the main feature, cream's the one to choose.
The grey dial and the rose gold indices is absolutely gorgeous. The movement is solid too and 38 mm is my sweet spot. I love to see it.

I love this watch. The cream dial is great and was my color choice when they first announced the watch. But, the more that I look at that gray.......
I would expect COSC certification at this price level.
Very handsome watch. Love a date window, but I love it even more with a window in an unconventional place.

Lovely watch. Can't afford it, but I can dream. Great video. 👍

Oh, if only I had $3k just lying around. Gorgeous watch.

Was waiting for your review on this one because you have one of the better reviews of the Conquest and Flagship Heritage on youtube
Thanks!
Lovely looking watch, and I agree the cream dial is my favourite, but the price is crazy
Really nice lookin watch. I find the black dial the most appealing.
Always a pleasure to see how different we are when it comes to taste. A guarantee that it won't get boring. 😀

You have common sense.
I love this watch also. Yes, the lugs are too chunky and the crown should protrude less but be a touch larger, but I would happily be wearing it.😎
LOVE IT !!! Best white brand, in my humble opinion.
What a nice dress watch!
Very nice. Cheers!

There is no reason to look at anything other than the cream dial here. Longines has been on a roll lately.
The skate dial with rose gold indices is hot
A very beautiful watch. Still I’m debating with myself if I prefer the word Longines or the logo instead.
Classy and beautiful. For that money, I hope the handset and indices are actual gold.
Unfortunately not. Plated.
@@CasebackWatches understood. Thanks Tim. Unfortunately, not so convincing anymore, haha!
I don't think you can find any modern watch that uses solid gold hands/indices at this price.
The cream dial is nice, but the grey would be my choice. The watch is beautiful, but I am not sure about the price point.
A little off topic, but I’ve noticed Longines seem to have good brand recognition amongst middle aged professional women.
Very nice, but what is the small squares besides the 9 and 3? Really disturbing for me… The price is also like $500 too much. Thanks for your great reviews!!
Thanks for watching and the comment!
Lume plots

@@IDKline Ok, thanks. In that case they should have put the plots on the outside of the 9&3 as well, true to the original or not. IMHO…:)

The cream dial is the best!!
I have 20 strap on a 38, good proportion. Think I'd consider a used price, like everyone else...

The Date Window without that Frame would look better
I love it, but max €3000 would be appropriate!
Very nice in all means but the price tag is definitely a deal breaker for me.
Good review. I want to like it ... but it leaves me cold.
@@IDKline That would beat buying a watch I didn't like much!
I agree, the cream colored dial is the best! 😎
4k for longine is pricey
Too expensive for what it is, although beautiful, it's a bit hard on my wallet
date position ruins it for me. also, power reserve info doesn't interest me. wear the watch or put it on a winder. to me, it's a 2,000 euro watch.
always cheaper in US
4k for a Longines that is just a old copy, nice, the greed of the Swiss bankers never cease to amaze me.
