Sea grass is even more effective at sequestering climate threatening carbon than the rain forests so both the earth and the manatees thank you. Keep up the good work.
Really a beautiful story about these manatees and regrowing their habitat-the Sea Grass. Also, if the boaters in the canals heading out to sea or just putting around would simply slow down in these shallow waters -- where the manatees are-that caution alone will help Save the Manatees. I Love them💖. These are Gentle, Peaceful Sweet creatures that never hurt a Soul. Hoping they keep coming back and their population continues to grow. 💖
This is the kind of good news I can use. ❤️☮️🙏
Best news to come out of Florida in four years.
I absolutely love the manatees. They are so sweet and gentle, and I hope we can save all of them!! We need to stop creating these fast boats that hurt these innocent creatures.
Do you know what I have to say to the government if those manatees recover don’t ever let what happened to those manatees again
Great job to the volunteers
Florida’s groundwater is a mess and the springs are highly threatened. Kudos to people working hard but the leadership in the state is hostile to its ecology. Hard to watch.
I didn’t need to cry this early… so cute and so thankful
Finally, some good news. God bless the people who pulled this off with His grace.
Sanity in Florida? OUTSTANDING!
Dugong! I love sea cow, manatee, dugong! Nice story
Great job, and it gives hope to these beautiful critters the Manatee. I wish there was something they could place around the blades of a motor to prevent injuries and in too many cases death.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Thank you for your time, efforts, and care.
My folks live just a few hundred yards from the Indian River. Just a short bike ride away is the lagoon where i go every year to watch the manatee. One year i was able to swim with them when we were out kayaking. It was an amazing experience and these animals are incredibly sweet and gentle. It breaks my heart that their resources are in danger.
Great to see progress being made. I adore manatees!
What they are doing in FL can possibily work in other areas in cleaning their oceans.
It is really heartbraking that people pollute those wonderful areas until they die off. Such good news that there are good people that at least saved this river
Manatees and elephants 🐘 have a common ancestor that lived about 60 million years ago. The flipper on a manatee has toe nails similar to an elephant. It can be seen on this video.
You have great wisdom, Bf.
❤
I adore both of them. Ellies are better humans than we are.
states really need to help restore shoreline after a storm.
Extreme caution should be exercised when around these creatures as they have been known to nuzzle their victims!
Yay! Manatees are so cute.
What great and accurate coverage of the plight of our Manatee. East coasters have learned to value manatee but west coasters still speed along not caring what damage they do. Thanks Patrick for moving to the east coast. We need the ecosystem to rebound.
Just amazing keep up the good work
Now the real question is how to get the boaters on the Treasure Coast to slow down in order to help ensure manatee safety. I grew up seeing the slow speed/no wake signs even back in the 90s, and yet I'm not surprised to hear that there are still problems on the east coast of the state that stem from malevolent behavior. I worry that those who try to pursue boater education on this front will end up triggering the backfire effect, especially in younger boaters on the Treasure Coast.
Serious idea for a story is the half cent tax we voted into law years ago in Brevard County - specifically to clean up the Indian river lagoon. The sea grass has died from pollution and manatees are literally starving to death, dolphins with herpes etc. What are they doing with the funds raised from that tax? Every time we get a heavy rain event the sewage treatment plants dump MILLIONS of gallons of untreated sewage directly into the Indian river lagoon. Hmmm don't you think they've raised more than enough to modernize those facilities.
I love these sweet animals. So happy to hear Crystal Lake is back. Now Indian River needs to be done.....
Nature finds a way 😊 ive swam in crystal river. But sadly never saw any manatees swimming around.
I love manatees!
Wow, what a wonderful story for a change!
Imagine a world without humanity
Right…😒😑😒 It’d be much better for the animal species, to continually flourish. They aren’t the ones destroying the planet or creating horrid chaos.🌏💔🌏
"Its easy if you try..."
Urrr muuuur humanity, can you tell me what species were the dedicated individuals and groups trying to put things right. Less moaning more action please.
@@michaelrmurphy2734 Imagine a world were humanity lives in balance with and has respect for nature. Oh yeah, you don't have to is was most of humanities 200 000 plus year existence, now minus a small blip. Its never to late to turn things around.
@germansherd6638: Imagine a world in which humanity embraces being the good steward of the environment.
Those folks with their fast boats and propeller blades cutting them need to be controlled too!!!
Chubbiest animal on the planet 🥰
It's a beautiful thing
finally a reason to go to Florida.
Какие хорошенькие! ❣️
They are so sweet, they just swim along doing manatee things while we stand on the dock looking at them.
Destroyed by storm and pollution
Thank goodness
What wonderful news! Love manatees
that’s awesome ❤❤❤
Not with santos allowing his buddies to pollute
99% of the pollution that caused the eel grass die-off is due to massive amounts of pollutants released from corporate farms into manatee ecosystem. corporate farms huge donors to desantis.
❤❤❤ so beautiful 😻❤️
I love how manatees aren't animals that cause harm, they are why I pick up trash from the ground and around the beach, such peaceful creatures
If only we cared this much about restoring the ocean who knows what we could be capable of
I love these amazing animal...
this is so awesome!
this is lovely
...damn..i was down there in the storm of '93.....blessed are those who help Gods creatures! :D
I took a friend to Blue Springs state park to see manatees, and as we walked towards the spring run I saw one glide by and nearly cried.
We both love manatees the way we love cats.
Crazy manatee ladies? Is that a thing?
It was not the storm that caused the destruction it was mankind and all the debris that we created
This is excellent news!
I work with a guy who has the profile of a Manatee. He's adorable to.
Don’t alligators go into crystal river though? 😳
yes & ppl still swim 🏊♂️
Soop beautiful ❤❤❤❤
They are so cute. They look like mini submarines 😂
Are manatees only in Florida? How far north or south is their range?
They have them in Brazil too
@michaelmurphy: I believe that they were once common in many parts of the Caribbean too.
In the US, only Florida.
Please can send them to sweden? I love it 😍😍
So if I go to crystal lake, I can swim with manatee?
Depends on the season.
Warm Water Walrus.
River potatoes.
Love these cool critters! They deserve their own emoji, sorry sea hippos 🌊🦛
Manatees please stay away from ron desantis
DeSantis is never in Florida anymore
Ron brought them back thank God.
Always gotta bring up the politics huh. I wish we were just like Manatees sometime, just chillin and eating our food without a care in the world.
@Simon Gonzales Libtards fault😂
Manatees please stay away from libtards Ronnie helped save you
Time to crank up the Bar-B.
Cute cows
If they could keep people and boats out of the river it would be perfect.
Does this mean romaine lettuce prices will drop?
Cherry picking story, alas. Overall in Florida, the manatee is in steep decline, almost wiped out in the Lake Worth lagoon, and the Indian River lagoon is not far behind. The lack of control over septic systems, added to the Big Sugar issue, and unchecked urban growth, is doing a number on every Florida waterway, and every creature in, or on it.
🥰
Wow! You should supply that technique to the homeless problem. 30 yrs is a long time but it's already been that long so . . .
Get to steppin'!
Good job guys ❤
It’s just some of that I do care about earth tlc
Give it a minute. DeathSantis will find a way to destroy them all.
Pretty irresponsible journalism calling the river "restored to pristine condition." Pristine condition would mean no human development on the banks or influence in the water. I wonder how the manatees like the taste of all the sunscreen, stormwater and sewer runoff into the river.
DeSantis puts a lot of resources into environmental conservation. It's working!
Since Florida Manatees are rebounding - please help the very rare Philippine Manatee called "DUGONG".
They are in danger and it will vanish in no time. Chinese commercial fishing are catching and eating them.
The difference between Florida Manatee and the Philippine manatee is their tail. The Florida has a shovel round tail while the Philippine has a whale tail.
The United Nation should declare these "Dugong" in danger species and must be protected.
Mermaids
Then northerners come down who don't know and don't care about our ecosystem, and the speed their boats through known manatee areas.
Didn't Arnold Schwarzenegger to run over one
Does this mean I can finally eat them again?
There's always this comment lol
THIS IS NOT CUBA!
THIS IS NOT CUBA!
@@lizgrem8542 but they are delicious everywhere
Thanks to Ron DeSantis help, they're able to do this.
Thanks DeSantis !
NO thanks to him!
I love de santis even im democrat
For letting his buddies pollute the ocean
history. like hell you are.
desanctimonius puddin fingers??
Ron DeSantis should get all the praise.
NOT!!!! Manatees are too "woke" for him!
@@michaelrmurphy2734 Thank God Ron funded this.
Seen what his buddies did to the ocean
@@brucecampbell4528 this restoration has been going on for how many years? before DeSantis was elected. glad he did continue to fund it.
please explain how desantis was responsible for this. Most probably the improvements occurred despite him. A lot of the degradation of florida's manatee ecosystems is due to his corporate farming donors dumping millions of gallons of excessive pollutants into the rivers and everglades. prove me wrong. waiting....
WHATS THE BEST WAY TO COOK THEM ?
Manatee meat is some of the tastiest there is and healthy for you too.
