I will never take for granted the absolute privilege it is to have this beautiful music brought to my ears. The quality of the video and recording equipment can make you almost feel like you're right there beside Jonathan. Thank you so much both of you for bringing this wonderful music and delivering in a near perfect reproduction. 👍
EPIC!!! I’m going to blast this from my house on Halloween. Why does this organist specifically play my favorite symphonies, like he knows which particular ones I want to hear? My goodness, this version is amazing, chilling, captivating!! Thank you Mr. Scott!! You nailed it yet again, so precisely.
@@JR3714 Oh my gosh, I just saw your comment and went there straight away. Man, Jonathan Scott is some kind of Sorcerer himself! I've never seen anyone play that many songs or symphonies on an organ like that. Who else can do this?! I bet if I gave him a whole Beatles album to play, he could do that too lol! Simply amazing. Bravo to him and his brother on the camera and audio 👍👍
Wonderful playing as usual Jonathan. The instrument sure has some brilliance to it. Tom the stereo imaging of the audio was grand. Thank you both for sharing your talents.
Beautiful transcription, wonderful playing and what an appropriate organ and hall - it has just the right tone for that piece. Hearing that music played by a mere orchestra will never sound the same now!
This is what it sounds like when a professional organist makes love to the king of musical instruments! Beautiful! I'm adding this to my gym music playlist...
this is a very powerful statement for UA-cam - a wonderully created video, thanks a lot for creating and uploading this UA-cam Masterpiece and very big "Thumbs up" for Jonathan Scott.!
La maestosità di questo strumento , è ineguagliabile ! Suscita le emozioni più belle, importanti che racchiude l'anima....bravi questi compositori e maestri che sprigionano il massimo dell'estro.....👍👍👍
I'm running a Curse of Strahd D&D campaign right now and I plan to make my players dance with Count Strahd's brides to this. Then later when they fight the brides it'll be a metal version.
First heard it when I was about 9 (60 years ago). I drove me into body swaying crazy then and still does. This rendition creates the same chills. Thanks Scott bros.
Danse Macabre literally means Dance of Death... it certainly has that spooky tone that lets you imagine a ghostly waltz to go with it. And on the organ, even more so.
@scottbrothersduo - Just to let you know, there is a typo in one of the stops under the Great division. "Cornet IV-C (T.C.) 8" should read "Cornet IV-V (T.C.) 8". I'm a student of the organ and was struggling to understand why that Cornet stop had a "C" there...haha. :] Thanks for the video!
I would agree, but, the video has been up for seven months now and only has 16 dislikes, as opposed to the 2k likes, which is one of the best like to dislike ratios I've seen
What a fantastic arrangement and performance! Simply astounding, what a fine showcase of the capabilities of a pipe organ Edit: that transition into the strings(?) around 5:00 is awesome, do I hear the expression pedal being used to mimic the swell of strings?
Ooh, the keys are the colours reversed! That's different! Does it throw you a little at all? And amazing as always! When we can get back to normal im definitely going to come to one of your concerts!
@@alanatolstad4824 I bet he would say it is the Albion Church organ where he regularly plays. Listen to his recording of the last movement of SAINT-SAËNS Organ symphony and you will understand why.
@@andrewgreenwood8554 I looked for one of my views several months ago, of a group of organists around the world that each took a section of a chosen piece, and played it in their respective churches. I was mesmerized. But, the one organ and sound that I enjoyed the most, was THIS one! Whenever I listen to Jonathan playing this piece, my throat closes up!
Honestly sounds like death and clowns to me I have loved this song since i was a kid ah good times I used to dance with my best friends to this we made up the dance as well
The first time I heard this played on the organ was by Ian Tracey in Liverpool. As far as I'm concerned, it is now a piece wasted on an orchestra and the organ version is far superior.
Saint-Saens music is so aesthetic and beautifully unique. Would have wanted to change the title to The Dark World because the original sounds really creepy.
Who needs an orchestra when you’ve got this?
Ikr (I know, right)? 🙂
I need the orchestra
Yeah, but an orchestra is cheaper!
@@창녀줄리가청와대접수 indeed 😂
the organ is way bigger than an orchestra
This is one of the best organ performances of the Danse Macabre that I've ever heard. Truly amazing!
🤔 .....i stand in agreement.
Is it me, or does this piece sound so much more appropriate on the pipe organ. I've loved this piece as a kid and this may be my favorite version.
it's a dramatic sounding song, and this freaking organ gives additional drama to said song. this pleases me.
Saint-Saëns was an organist after all
Totally agree
It's definitely not just you! I'm sure Saint-Saëns would have loved this transcription too.
Few people know this, but orchestras were created in order to emulate the pipe organ. It's the perfect song for an organ.
Gawd! All that was possible with only two hands and two feet!?!? That's jaw-dropping!
😂 I know, right?! Lawd have mercy for real!

@@abbymartin554 This is not a symphony. Danse Macabre is a Tone Poem.
o_o my face the entire time. I didn't realize how much I need organ music in my life again. The one and only instrument I know how to play.
The percussive "chiff" of the stop at 0:35 is absolutely PERFECT for this piece. LOVE this rendition and this instrument.
Absolutely brilliant!
Absolutely brilliant!
Beautiful piece played beautifully.
Pure magic. Master of registration!
That organ has a beautiful tones, and driven expertly :-)
The only sad thing is that i can give only one thumb up.
Eventhough It is " Danse Macabre", It makes me so good and joyful to hear that master piece. Bravo 👏👏👏👏
Extremely good musical organ transcription and perfect performance on an interesting organ architecture - thanks for the video!

I love the way he performs this wonderful piece
Absolute stunning!!! la tua bravura va oltre la conoscenza della musica!!sei un talento UNICO👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
wow.... thats amazingly played.
Fabulous transcription and performance! It works so well on this instrument, too.
O órgão é mesmo o rei dos instrumentos, substitui uma orquestra inteira! Incrível!!!

In fact the notes being black (or dark brown) and the sharps/flats white was the de facto standard in baroque times on organs and harpsicords.
as i understand this. back in the day, ebony was cheaper and easier to obtain than ivory.
@@redoorn Back in the day? The Hradetzky Organ was built in 1973.

a stop on the left springs out seemingly on its own. is that right? and how and or why?
Preset stop settings can be triggered by either a thumb press or a foot press - at 2:23 thats likely a toe press trigger
Probably a preset piston, where you can preset stop settings and activate them with buttons either on the pedalboard or beneath each manual
