I am 60 and this guy makes me want to get a kit! (I am a Bonzo fan and mediocre piano and guitar player-and female!) You folks are so lucky to have UA-cam and these teachers (of all skills levels and temperaments) to teach you for *FREE!!*
Love this guy! Funny as Hell he is. His toms sound a little flat to me though. Sound like they might need a little higher tension on the resonant sides
Always loved your playing. I always thought you talked to much when I was younger and first coming across your videos, but as I age as a person and drummer, I've come to realize that you take great pride in what you do and want to ensure that your message gets across. You always had a way to bring me back to Bonham, and I thank you for making your presence on UA-cam. An inspiration, wonderful teacher, and a character. Cheers to you, sir! Keep whackin' those skins.
Any time, sir! I've seen negative comments on your videos and can't understand why, you're one of the few UA-cam drummers who actually knows what they're doing. Looking forward to future uploads, wish I could jam with you.
hi....i am an infiltrater here, sneaking in and learning all you guys cool licks on the drumkit...i wanted to be a drummer since 6th grade but mom said they were too loud- i got her back for that.... but you are helping me sound way better than i ever would have on my own-i'm getting ready to record a bunch of original music and im playing every thing-myself- so you are making a huge contribution here-bravo, guy-thanx again-
You are one of the most helpful drum instructors out there. Your methods just make things like this so much easier to understand.. at least for me, and are certainly always very entertaining! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.. Much appreciated.
you know sir...this is what i seek for a years about the ending of drum pattern and finally found it...thank you so much for the lesson and tips...i really enjoy and appreciate all of your shows...
Terry, your an awesome teacher man. I just played the ending in my cover as an improv in the style of what I thought John played. I removed this section in the audio file and moved the guitar/bass ending out further than the original to accommodate what I played. Thanks for sharing your gift for teaching and drumming.
Thanks. I've been listening to this song for over 20 years and didn't know that "chunk 3" began with the left hand hitting the first tom and inverting the triplet! All this time I thought it began with the bass drum, but that never sounded right.
I absolutely love this tutorial, very helpful. I live this instructor--very natural, funny and likeable. Very funny 4:35..the ticking and head shake. Also when he hits the vintage bass hoop. Well done!!
tremendously helpful..... i'm so thankful you worked it out and broke it down so well.... I never bothered too (seemed too much work) and probably never would have without your instruction!
Thank you for doing this, It has driven me insane since 1976 trying to figure it out, well done !!! You really get the nuances of Bohnam's Playing & Style and can interpret it. Also its nice to know that there are so many Bohnam obsessed lunatics like me. (its hard to believe he was so young to be so talented, and now he has been gone longer than he was alive)
Excellent job my man. I've always wanted to learn that ending the exact same way that J. Bonham performed it. You nailed it !!! It couldn't have been explained and demonstrated it any better, Hands Down. Breaking it into 3 parts, make it so much easier with the learning process. Took me about 1/2 hour with a lot of rewinding/ play, rewind/play, etc....but I got it. lol...now its time to pick up the speed to the proper tempo. Being a drummer for so many years, I've found that once I get a fast lick nailed down at a slower tempo, playing it at tempo comes simply with focused practice and repetition. Thanks again for taking the time to demosnstrate.
10/10. I thought I KNEW it until I realised I didn't and came across your vids. It's almost taken 20 years for me to realise that Bonham's triplets were led with the LEFT hand! That was courtesy of your other vid on the subject. Thanks for sharing and informing.
I guess you could say I've been faking that end solo my whole life LOL I just incorporate a lot of me in whatever I do I usually start my triplets with my foot left then right, but this is a great breakdown of exactly how it's supposed to be played or the way Bonham did it that day in the studio. There's something about Bonhams feel and groove that just makes you want to play and I'm sure many can attest to that. A lot of people are saying you're insane but you're not you're just a naturally spun out drummer I love it. Thanks for the video bro.
Dude! Sooooooooooooo helpful! Thank you!!!!! I've referred to several videos of this break down, but none have been more effective in my opinion than yours. Why? Because you repeat until the cows come home, so to speak and do it very slow. Yes!!! That's how to do it, sir! It's not too much or too slow. It works!!! Thank you! Keep up the great job!
awesome breakdown of a great fill, keep the vids coming love them, they're very helpful, much appreciated for taking the time to do these bonzo vids, bonzo rules!
Mr. Terry, I have to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. The way you break things down and your zany sense of humor. May you continue bringing us many and I do mean many more videos. Thanks so much! PS. I never really thought I would be able to play the ending to Zeppelins' Rock and Roll, and thanks to you, now I can. Thanks again!
Thanks a million for sharing this. Wish my drum teacher taught like you when I was younger. Also thanks for the video on the Rock And Roll Intro!. That cleared up a lot for me..
watched this and learned the lick properly! Ive been bastardising the ending for so long!! I watched Grave Doule on the Kennedy honours just recently, and man I would have thought out of homage and musicianship he would have frickin learned the ending with the Led Zep guy's watching!! Oh well wtf ...it's too late now... Dig your video's! Cheers from Canada!
Terry you are a true master! Thank you for taking the time to break this down. Gonna check out your other video's! Hey any chance you would do an instructional video on EVERY Led Zeppelin song ever written?!!! I'd watch every one. Cheers my man! Thanks again!
Yes . Thank you !! Thanks to you, Mr. Bonzoleaum, I just learned the Crunge from your other video. . So cool. A plesure to now be able to play that right ! And now...very glad to discover this. I'll check back in a week or so , hopefully with the good news that I can finally play that Rock & Roll outro. You are an awesome teacher.
Just gotta thank you man, you're a trip dude, (and of course I mean that in a great way,) but your understanding and break down of Bonham's technique are spot on. I was more of a Mitch Mitchell, Keith Moon follower and respected JB's style but never really listened to him. A current band I'm playing in is covering a few of their tunes and if I need help (which I do all the time,) I turn to your page. Rock On & Thank You!
Many thanks Terry for your tutorial! There's a small detail barely audible in the outro: Bonham does the roll on 18" floor tom before very last crash hit.
Great informative video, man, you helped me a lot!! I was wondering, some transcriptions read on section 2 hertha groupings (with 32th notes) , but now, watching you doing triples + kick, that makes more sense to me. Thanks a lot!
Champ Kind: We need you. Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without you. I miss you so damn much! I miss being with you. I miss being *near* you. I miss your laugh! [laugh's playfully and pulls on Ron's sleeve] Champ Kind: I miss your scent. [Composes himself, becomes serious] Champ Kind: I miss your musk... When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together! Brian Fantana: Take it easy, Champ. Why don't you sit this next one out, stop talking for a while. Thanks Rob!!
NICE!!! Can you please discuss two apparently inflenced drummers by Bonham (one is controversial) in Carmine Appice and Michael Derosire? When I listen to Carmine on Rod Stewart's Foot Loose and Fancy Free I hear heavy Bonham style. Michael in Heart had the same sound and style.
Drumstheword has a good vid on this too, and I recall him throwing in one extra FT note in at the end of pt2. Maybe you're doing it on bass? Or maybe I'm old and confused.
You're completely insane, but you explained the whole thing like nobody else. Thank you so much!
I am 60 and this guy makes me want to get a kit! (I am a Bonzo fan and mediocre piano and guitar player-and female!) You folks are so lucky to have UA-cam and these teachers (of all skills levels and temperaments) to teach you for *FREE!!*
You're tatally insane, but man, you can play!
Love this guy! Funny as Hell he is. His toms sound a little flat to me though. Sound like they might need a little higher tension on the resonant sides
This guy is totally insane! Lol…😂
You are exactly what a drummer should be.... Extremely talented, insightful and entertaining. Well done1
Thank you very sincerely, Joe!
Always loved your playing. +Nick Colantonio Thank you Nick for the very kind words. I really do appreciate it! Thank you for the comment!
Any time, sir! I've seen negative comments on your videos and can't understand why, you're one of the few UA-cam drummers who actually knows what they're doing. Looking forward to future uploads, wish I could jam with you.
Great explanation of how to play the ending of a great song. Thx!

Why are you the only one (on You Tube) that can do this fill properly from start to finish?
You are one of the most helpful drum instructors out there. Your methods just make things like this so much easier to understand.. at least for me, and are certainly always very entertaining! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.. Much appreciated.
you know sir...this is what i seek for a years about the ending of drum pattern and finally found it...thank you so much for the lesson and tips...i really enjoy and appreciate all of your shows...
10:22-10:49 is the whole solo at a slow speed.
Awesome teacher!!!
Gonna try this at home!!!
Thanks a lot!!

Thanks for the very nice words, Sal!
100% INFORMATIVE, 100% ENTERTAINING.
LOVED YA, MAN.
I feel like I waisted YEARS trying to learn this! The "E" of 3 is all ya need... Excellent.
Loved it! Great breakdown. Finally understand what John was doing!
Thanks. I've been listening to this song for over 20 years and didn't know that "chunk 3" began with the left hand hitting the first tom and inverting the triplet! All this time I thought it began with the bass drum, but that never sounded right.

Thank you Shm!

Thank you Fer D! I appreciate your fandom!!
I wish UA-cam was around when I was a kid learning how to play. I'm 50 now and haven't played in years, but really miss it.

Thank your demo... Is genial
Excellent. Thanks!
I had to check your vid to make sure I've done my outro correctly.
Drumstheword has a good vid on this too, and I recall him throwing in one extra FT note in at the end of pt2. Maybe you're doing it on bass? Or maybe I'm old and confused.
@bonzoleum do you know if Bonhom used anything to dampen his drums
No no no, let the ring! ;)
Hi . The part where you do 4 notes scrunched into 3 where it's done 6 times - would that be a fill sometimes called " falling rocks"?
Not that this video wasn’t brilliantly explained, but does anyone know the other “only-one-bone-man” video he was referencing?
Love this guy
you are 100 percent mental and 100 percent legend
