I actually want to set the record straight for all those who have argued over the years about this. Obviously the original track was called 'Waiting For A Star To Fall' by Boy Meets Girl. This is the original version released by Cabin Crew at the time they were involved in a sample battle with Sunset Strippers. SonyBMG blocked Cabin Crew's attempt to release Waiting For A Star to fall instead SonyBMG backed Sunset Strippers version called 'Falling Stars' When original singer of Boy Meets Girl and song writer George Merrill heard about the issue, he rerecorded and resampled his vocals and gave it to Cutting Crew who remade the track and called it 'Star2Fall' thus allowing it to be released, which they managed to do before Sunset Strippers released their track. Cutting Crew's track placed higher than SS's however Sunset Strippers had the bigger success with their version staying in the charts longer than Cutting Crew's track. There is the back story of the whole issue. This however is the original Cutting Crew's track that was blocked by SonyBMG. Only a few hundred copies were ever made of the track.
Finally! I get to hear this version in full length! I fell in love with this song since hearing it on Ministry of Sound's Running Trax 2 Mix CD. What I can't believe is that even though Cabin Crew originally remixed it, the record label, SonyBMG, wouldn't clear the vocal sample and instead, they enlisted the Sunset Strippers to remix the track to block the Cabin Crew version (which, in my opinion, was bogus and ridiculous). Boy Meet Girl's main vocalist, George Merrill, saved the day when he heard the track and re-recorded the vocals for this version, resulting in Cabin Crew's version to be released. Personally, I prefer this version over the Sunset Strippers' version. Von Minx, thank you so much for uploading this. I'm now a happy camper. Added to my playlist :-)
