    Nice job! Since Covid, I play a ton of small/medium stakes SNGs... Much the same strategy that you show here. Playing tight thru the early stages is one thing that fishy players fail to realize.

    Thank you for the video! I am new to poker and starting to learn but I was just curios at around 6.30 you called the other player’s All in with J and Q off suit, would you have done the same if it meant you going all in or would you have folded?

    • @pokercoacho
      @pokercoacho  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback! No I would not have called if he had a bigger stack that covered mine. Actually I maybe would not even raise in the first place if the stack sizes for the small and big blind where different. In this case I got pot odds to call both when small or big blind pushes, so I'm commited to call there everytime when I do raise preflop.

    Whats the biggest difference in playstyle between cash games and sng?

    • @pokercoacho
      @pokercoacho  2 роки тому +2

      There is so much difference between cashgames and sit and gos. The biggest difference is the stack sizes in relation to the blinds. The blind pressure is generally so much lower in cashgames.
      Therefore you can play many more hands from the button and cut off in a cashgame outplay your opponenents with your positional advantage.
      On the other hand in a SNG that advantage is not as big, since it moves to an all in or fold move early on in a SNG. That takes away the positional advantage and the number of speculative hands you can play.

    nice video! well done!
    Question:
    Experienced(10years playing) but not profitable player wants to start being profitable by studying harrisson's books and watching videos like this and free content from poker coaching sites. Started studying a year ago but never had mainly the mentality of doing it. i mean tilt was all over me after a bad beat.
    1) How many buy ins should my starting bankroll be?
    2) Are these 9people sit n gos the way to build bigger bankroll and improve my game or should i choose other tours like 2,5$ 180 people? Do u have other sit n gos to suggest? (rake, prizepools, difiiculty and ROI included in the reason of choosing them)
    3)Do u offer 1-1 coaching or even group coaching?
    THANK YOU in advance!

    • @pokercoacho
      @pokercoacho  3 роки тому

      Hi Bibe,
      Thanks!
      Anwears to your questions.
      1. I recommend at least 50 buy ins for SNGs. But you could definitively allow yourself to take shots if you are willing and able to move down again if it doesnt work out. For example if you reach 5000$ in your bankroll you could allow yourself to play a slightly higher buy in SNGs for some sessions if you set the limit to move back to the lower stake if you go down to 4.000$ again. That set up worked for me. I allowed myself to play higher games and learn more but still I was always willing to move down again if it didn't work out . Then trying again when you built up your bankroll to that level again.
      2. I you play SNGs with more players you need bigger bankroll since the variance (swings) will be much higher.
      I recommend Unibet for seveal reasons. It is not mainly a poker site, it concist of many casino and sportsbetting players. So the opposiition is really weak. Also the rake is lower, only about 5%, and that is really important for your winrate. If you want to try it sign up for a new account through the link found on this page. pokercoacho.com/poker-sites/
      3. Yes, I offer 1-1 coaching. Send and email to the mail listed above. I'm also up for group sessions if more people want to join in.
      If you have any topics you want me to bring up in future videos let me know here in the comments.

    Don’t play sngs on global. I know a guy that has been played 16000sngs there and all of the sudden 3 weeks ago his graph starts going straight down. Weird weird things going on over there. He called me crying so I went over the next day and watched him lose literally every single all in for 5 hours. He lost every single flip, he lost every time he had AKvsAx, he lost ALMOST every single time he had AA and KK. Any time he got all In pre , he lost. I saw it with my own eyes and I still couldn’t believe it. And he said that it had been going on for a month solid, over 3000 games, and I believe him 100%.

    • @skullduggery3377

      yeah, they claim it's 'variance'. a 'downswing'. but if it was, wouldn't it happen more uniformly; such as winning some and losing some? not these horrendous and impossible and endless scenarios of bad beats and coolers that defy statistical logic. seems pretty non random to me. but if you wanna distance yourself from it, i suppose the only way is to actually play MORE in an effort to end it quicker; or quit playing because you don't feel like you're getting a fair deal...literally.

      @@maxis175 Thanks Maxi. I have to be a bit boring here and answear "it depends". If players are loose and reraising frequenlty I would play very tight, raising like AQ+ and TT+. If players are poor and weak / passive I could go maybe open AJ+ and 99+.

    Thank you for the great video, learned a lot😀
    Im playing 45 man sit and go Turbo
    I have some questions that i really hope you will answer, thank you.
    This i questions about the early game.
    Do you think that you should open wider preflop compared to 9 man sit and go?
    Hands like A10o UTG and 66+ is that to wide when you have 50-75bb early in the tournament?
    Can you call raises on the button, with hands like 89s, A5s, J10s, when you have 50-75bb?
    Looking forward to your next video, have a great day😀

      Hi Peter,
      Nice to hear! I'm glad you liked it. :)
      Here is anwears to your questions.
      1. No I don't think so. You should use the same solid strategy with shallow SNG starting stacks. There is not enough room to play around.
      2. ATo and 66 UTG. Just fold it and you will be better off. :) At a 9 handed SNG game with tough opponents I could even fold AQo UTG. Not much good can really happen there anyway. Just trouble.
      3. With shallow stacks you should not call that type of hands suchs as 89s, A5s etc. With a bit bigger stacks early on in a MTT and poor opponents then of course you could widen up there and take advantage of playing specutlative hands with deep stacks in position against weak opponents.
      Also there is another thing I like with the super conservative approach early in an SNG. You get way more credit than you should later in the tournament when you need to steal or shove all in to steal the blinds.
      I'll publish the next video next week. Thanks for watching and subscribe to the channel if you haven't already. Here: bit.ly/3iKjNU5

      @Peter Bisgaard Some advice from a former 45man Pro on the 45man SNGs with experience for over 55.000 Sit n Gos up to the 30$ Level.
      1. Imagine every average regular is as taggish as the PokerCoch advices. What does this mean to you? Basically: Just fold whenever they raise from Early Position. But raise much much wider from EP when you are first in, cause of their tight assumptions u can get away easily with so many hands.
      2. Flatting marginal hands or Potential hands is fine - even with shallow stacks as long as u have a clear (!!) postflop edges including some high variance exploitive plays and are an expert with stacks somewhat in between 8-15 Big Blinds. If not: Fold, cause otherwise the chances to get into slightly -EV spots too often are kinda estimated. Train and analyse these sports first, before you take them.
      3. ICM and Future EV Plays are the absolute Key to smash those tournaments. If u master the Theory and dont stick to it like a blind wizzard, but adjust to specific player tendencies and exploit that to the maximum. You can even have 35% ROI+

    • @nicor6415
      @nicor6415 2 роки тому +1

      @@pokercoacho That kinda super conserative approach works just fine against players who doesnt pay that much attention (which is def the main pack in these Limits). A reasonable regular realizes immediatly what kinda obvious strategy you are following. It's actually super exploitative and the most common reason why people in Formats like this are "just" having something between 5-15% ROIs - which is obviously just fine. But still far off from potential. For crushing the regulars as well - you really shouldnt be so sticky to that "simple concept"

    • @pokercoacho
      @pokercoacho  2 роки тому

      I win on higher stakes too. 😊 You can check my Sharkscope graph here. pokercoacho.com/sit-and-go-poker/strategy/
      You should of course take into account how your opponents play and what their ranges are in different spots. But that doesn’t mean you should play looser. Especially not during the earlier levels when the blinds pressure is low.
      By playing super conservative early on you are getting a tight image which you can use later on in the tournament. And that works against the better players as well, trust me. I have played for living for more than 7 years beaten all kind of stakes.

    • @pokercoacho
      @pokercoacho  2 роки тому +1

      Hi and thanks! Never threebet. Its mostly very poor hands in an SNG earöy on. :) I would mostly fold those hands to a raise early on in an SNG. Later stages I could reraise push all in depending on stack sizes and opppnent raising.
      But in general not so much good will happen calling raises with those type of hands early on in SNG. Of coruse there is exceptions, the raise is really low, you have position, the opponent raise very loose etc. Then I would call and see how it develops. :)
      9 handed I fold AJ utg early on. Could even fold AQ UTG in a good game. Not much good things will happen raising it when there is only very small blinds to steal.

    can you still recommend online poker these days? I mean, after all the scandals (Full Tilt Poker), bots and rigged software, collusion and stuff...is it still possible to make money? I used to play SNGs quite a bit. It is quite time-consuming if you want to be profitable. Also tracking software is nice to have, but you did not seem to have used explicitly in this video. I mean the hands they played, or the way they reacted to your BS attempt, is valuable information even without having the HUD.

    • @pokercoacho
      @pokercoacho  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Miro, there is several reasons to play online poker these days.
      1, There i value in MTTs and SNGs. Cash games are much tougher nowadays in my opionon but tournaments are still profitable.
      2. You also get good practice and can play many hands online. Experience you can then use in live games.
      3. Yes I use HUD usually, but I find it more important to use in cashgames. SNGs are more a game of preflop decisions mostly.
      With that said. It was way easier to earn big and easy bucks in the past. But if you like online poker why not try to get better? :)

      True. I started just in the boom more or less. Maybe one year before the hype.

      It has worked out pretty fine. :) Use the tight image to steal later in the tournament.

    sit and gos are just not something I ever win, I'm a cash game player and every now and again I'll go play some sit and gos because of the fishiness, but I can never beat them. I find it really frustrating, just wishing these players were in my cash games

      Hi James, One common thing cashgames players are usually doing wrong is playing to many hands and playing the suited connectors etc too frequently. Fold, fold fold during the beginning stages and build your tight image to be able to steal when it matters when the blinds are high.
      Good luck and thanks for following!

      @@pokercoacho thanks for the advice, what kind of vpip would you recommend/ are there any preflop charts you can direct me to? I probably play around a 15 vpip in my 9 player sit and gos with ante.

      @@jamesmiddleton8335 Hi, I base my VPIP on position, blinds and opponents. So there is unfortunately no chart I can direct you to.
      As an example. Early on UTG with no antes I would fold hands strong as AQ and 88 if the table is decent.
      In general play really tight early on and use your tight image on the later streets to pick up some nice pots when it really matters. :)
      Good luck!

    6:57. Since you're teaching begginers you should explain a little about the odds.

      I like to play 2 tables maximum when I make videos so I can talk about the hands and explain the concepts.
