Look, I'll always straddle if the table is doing it, but I have no problem with someone that doesn't want to do it. Some people may be shot taking in the game, or just don't want to do it.
These are public casino games. No players owes anything to the other players at the table, and a player absolutely should be able to play the stakes that are listed without being ostracized or pressured. I actually have more respect for the player that stands their ground than the player that does something they don't want to just to go with the flow. JMO though.

I agree with this. Lex O is out of line to mention it more than once to the guy. It gives him an advantage and he should take the edge. If all the other people want to be idiots and play at a disadvantage, that's on them. If their desperate to play higher stakes, then go play higher stakes.

Same thing happened to me at the 5/10 at the HR soon as I sat down they said they’re doing an auto straddle. I only sat down cause I was waiting for the 5/5/10 plo. I said good for you but never straddle. A couple of them get upset and started mouthing off so I said I’m not going o straddle I’m waiting for another game I’m third on the list and when my names called I’m out of here so there just going to have to deal with it. They muttered under their breath but nothing g happened and I refused to straddle until I moved to the PLo game as I’m leaving one guy started yapping g again when I challenged him to okay HU plo for 5/10 or 10/10 and he finally shut up. End of story. The game is 5/10 not 5/10/25. It’s a casino not a private game so 🖕🏻

I think raise or fold makes sense. He can't lose the nit game this hand, so it shouldn't really force his action.
Calling $1600 and not closing the action seems like a strange choice. In his own analysis, he said the player to his left would at least call. So, at best, he calls out of position and sees a flop with a hand that should be raising preflop? At worst, the limper squeezes and he is forced to fold preflop. I don't get it

It’s ok on occasion for recreational player. No one should say anything. It’s not ok for a semi- pro or pro grinder, other pros should call out the poor etiquette.
Non straddling NITs run off the whales. I’d rather get the comps from the casino and lose 5-10k at the roulette or craps table than to give my $$ to a boring, grinding, angling, NIT.
About 6 months ago, a guy like this jammed 2k preflop with AA and I snapped him off with 7/3 suited because I was up 8k and wanted to smash him. He reloaded for 5k. I tipped the dealer $50 and the brush $50 and asked them to take my chips to the cage before the guy could even get his chips reloaded….I looked right at him and said….”You’ll never get these chips back, the Peppermill will… but I’ll never sit in a game with you again”! How bad is that for the other players? They lost opportunity because of that douche! 😂😂
Your assessment was spot on and I agree with you, most big players don’t mind and enjoy the company of other recreational players, regardless of the straddle or gamble threshold. But we HATE PRO Grinders, who tip like shit & ruin the fun.

This is possibly a case of being in a game that is getting too big for you to comfortably play. The A♣️5♣️ shove was a gamblers mentality, not a smart poker move. Just my opinion, but if you are constantly either walking away a winner, or broke, you are crossing the line between playing cards and gambling. 8k raise is a stronger play than the all in vs VIP, even with limited behind. It actually shows more strength than the all in given what you have behind. Gives you an opportunity to navigate the flop and bluff if you don’t get put all in pre. If you do get shoved on pre after your raise, you are probably beat and get to chose weather you want to gamble or live to fight another day. Either way, enjoyed the vlog. Because a jump from 2/5 or 5/5 too a compulsary 5/10/25 seems rediculous, and I can understand why alot of people wouldnt agree to put on this straddle. Have you thought about the pre-flop raise size on that big pot? Smaller raise on that one, no? 2k and a call, you do better with a 5-6x raise to 10-12k, with a flop shove on good flops don’t you think? No need to shove pre to make it big enough to get better to fold. Also gives you an escape hatch if somebody shoves over you pre or you get an ugly flop. Obviously the game is always easy in hindsight, I get that. Still love your stuff though, you are a great player just think you got a little too caught up in the moment on this one.

Straddling is OPTIONAL! When a player is expecting to play 5-10 and it’s a 5-10-25 game that changes their budget relative to the game size.

Yes. But if the whole table straddles, you sit at the table and you don’t want to. But they are. You can move to a different 5/10 or lower your stakes. It’s clear you can’t handle 5/10/25 I’ve went to a casino, where I wanted to play 1/2. I came with 3 bullets 900 I came to the casino, the 1/2 game, ended up being a 2/5/10 25 straddle. by the end of the session, 5 hours stacks sitting around 7-10k

I get it Lex, respect putting your money up to make a point, and taking the loss like a bawse! Whenever there is a discrepancy less than 5$ at a table that takes more than a minute or so ro resolve, i regularly find myself throwing money to resolve issues that have nothing to do with me, to shut people up and move the game along. I fuggin hate a doosh who has 2k in front of him arguing with a dealer over a dollar, whenever i spend my money to solve someone elses dispute i like to mention to the doosh responsible how the 3$ doesnt mean shit to me

Poker and life intertwine at times. Sounds to me that even though the dollar loss is life changing, you grew as a man and as a human being. Poker is your job. Your profession. One of your passions. But it doesn't define you as a man. My condolences upon your loss. My congratulations upon your emotional growth.

If it's his job and he's taking it seriously, he'd learn bankroll management. He'd also learn that if he's playing a game where the money matters to him and it doesn't matter to the others at the table then he's at a huge disadvantage.

A ton of respect for you, Lex. Big losses are inevitable when you play high stakes. But as you said, it is a only 70bb, 100bb decision. And it seems like your decisions at those spots, did have positive EV, so just keep playing and you will be fine. However, do you have the bankroll to sustain these swings?

Acontece!
