Hey guys!! Hope you enjoy the start of the new season! We've had such a blast filming this one and can't wait to continue sharing the epic world of down south. If your ears perked at the sound of getting your hand on a SV Nakas tee or other goods you can check out what we have been working on here slimandsophsailingnakama.com/ Cheers guys! Hope you all have a lovely weekend and we're looking forward to the next time we're looking at ya! Slim & Soph xxx
Welcome to my town, sorry we missed you your probably in Melbourne by now lol nice though to see it from your angle as you come in to port, hopefully you had a fantastic time and got to see the place there’s a lot to see around Albany safe travels cheers,
Such a great channel. I am surprised that subscriber-ship is not 10xs greater. Serious sailors, great adventures, lovely people… and showing it can be on a uni budget. Wow, and thanks for bringing us season 5.
Living such a busy life, I have found myself really looking forward to your weekly video and you haven’t disappointed this week. As an eastern coaster, it’s brilliant to see a different part of Australia that many people don’t see. Fair winds.
Totally love Simon’s attitude…….”let’s just rip the bandaid of it and get going❗️” Slim is a r.e.a.l. man for a r.e.a.l. woman. Love the new merchandise. Aaaaaaaa, the bald head is spectacularly amazing ‼️ Especially the shot after you passed it. OMG 😳 Love you guys. See you next time. ✨🌊💨🌬️⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨
Great video Soph and Slim. Slim when did you become a plumber video count number25:52. Good start to season 5, but I thought your season 4 just finished so I figured you'd be away a month or so. I'm not complaining as great to watch your video's. Looking forward to next video
I saw the seals at the beginning of the video. I was born and raised in Southern California and surfed, skin-dived, and scuba-dived. One thing we decided to not do was to do any of those three around a seal colony. You are Aussies, and you know what likes to eat seals. You are in the south now. Where (in what area) do you need to be concerned about Great Whites? Are you there yet? You guys are true sailors. Stay safe.
Loved seeing you guys turn the corner and sail into my home port of Albany. I've been waiting for this one for a while. Got my merch order in just now too. Cheers legend
Love you kids! Excited to see what Season 5 brings to you. The design of your new merch is wonderful. Like that the larger graphic is on the back, not the chest. Safe travels. ❤
Cheers to crossin the start line of Season 5! Nakama doing quite alright in that Southern Ocean! Congrats on a successful first leg. That rocky coast is sooo beautiful. And little baby dolphins surfin their first bow waves with their mommas! Thanks for the fantastic video shots! Really nice capture of the views! 👀 👍💯 ❤️
It was a strange thing to be a part of, it was wild to see how effective the EPIRB was, and if anything, we were happy to be able to help but it was also a great learning experience
I have so enjoyed your videos. Watching from Naples, Florida. Finally finished all 4 seasons and so much looking forward to all of your next adventures Cheers.
Hey you two! This was a lovely treat after a crazy arse week! Loved it as always! Got the whole fam involved now 😂❤️ thank you for sharing as always. Love to you both ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Well done. You obviously missed Cow & Calf Rock in the night, which is a very good thing as it’s smack on your course between Pt d’Entrecasteaux and Pt Nuyts. One question though, why do you only start your watches at night if you’re making an overnight passage?
@@SlimandSophSailingNakama Absolutely amazing the different contrasts in landscape from coast to coast. Damn Spectacular & yes I would've been nervous about turning the corner into the Great Southern Ocean Loving this journey Thanks Slim & Soph & Chillie
if you can play a harmonica for the dolphins you encounter -- they are entharlled led. let me know Don Ps I am old but have sailed over 50,000 miles and did play a harmonica for a pod of dolphins of guatamala regards Don
For us, we think of the seasons as the different coastlines/oceans and significant streches of ocean, nothing to do with the 'seasons' so to speak but more the circumnavigation in its different legs.
Buooey? Is that your Southern accent. While you are somewhere that is reasonably flat, consider making a batch of John Edmonds Tomato Relish. Brilliant passage food, along with Tex Mex Dynamite Chilli Beans. the Relish is magic on bread, toast, crackers, meat, and baked potatoes with butter. It’s not just a spread it is a spoon on food. The basic batch makes 6 decent jars full which can last from weeks to months depending.
Enjoyed this episode as usual. Watching from New Zealand. What brand/model of wet weather gear did you decide on and why? I’m in the market for a new set too (so terribly expensive). Thanks heaps.
Hey Michael It's all on the website so should come up when you look at placing an order, however while we are here, i'll let you know we are doing standard shipping rates in AUD of $10 in AUS and $20 for International orders. Hope this helps, and stoked you liked some of the merch options🙂
Kayakers are like the cyclists of the sea aren't they lol, but how does a kayaker lose power and steering...lose a fucking paddle lol. I couldn't fathom going more than a Km or so without at least a handheld, I honestly thought it was compulsory on a tinny of that size or how far you went offshore. Great episode guys, hope you have Great Southern Land cranking on Nakama crossing the Bight. Great merch by the way, design looks crisp and clean well-done Soph.
As far as we understand, it was a peddle-powered kayak. Passing over / crashing into a shallow reef they lost/damaged their propulsion which also acted as the rudder on this particular kayak, i guess they didnt have a spare paddle. Stoked you like the merch, and yeah, I'm not sure why so many boats don't carry a radio; we certainly wouldn't like to be that far offshore without proper coms.

Those giant granite boulders look like our ca national park, Yosemite! It’s biiiigggggg❤❤❤
Stunning hey, have always wanted to check out Yosemite too!
@ I live in Fresno, ca. we are the gateway there! The Sierra mtn range is ginormous and we get all four seasons. You guys are “legends”!

Yeah we are already well and truly in Great White country, no swimming near seals for us

Epic Graeme!! was such a spectacle to sail into, and cant wait for you to get your hands on the new threads
OMG 😱 😳 you guys. Just into the opening scenes and there are some s.w.e.l.l.s. you are in‼️ 😲

Amazing scenery. Glad you guys found a good weather window.
Yeah this one was worth the wait, we were so stoked with how it turned out after weeks of pretty hairy conditions
You two are awesome. Relief for the kayaker well done for your response.

Your story and filming in the intro was fantastic! What constitutes a change of season by calling it Season 5 before the new year?
For us, we think of the seasons as the different coastlines/oceans and significant streches of ocean, nothing to do with the 'seasons' so to speak but more the circumnavigation in its different legs.
@@SlimandSophSailingNakama I was sort of thinking that might be the case. Thanks!

BURKE ! it's an Aussie company that has so far performed really well and is set at a realistic price point; we love our new gear!
I am sailing in Tasmania at the moment. Are you coming my way?....
It wouldn't be a true circumnavigation without rounding Tassie!😉
@SlimandSophSailingNakama roughly when are you arriving Tasmania?
