So pleased to have found this video! The little girl is my aunty, Cynthia O'Brien, who is one of Australia's leading Baroque violinists. She resides in Vienna and has spent her life performing and teaching.

Thank you very much for telling us more about Cynthia. She would be 72 now, yes? So pretty, charming and talented! Please give her our appreciation and our very best wishes. Any further professional highlights?

She possessed such a sweet and confident manner, especially for her age. I'm not surprised she went on to a wonderful career. I wonder if being on this show helped it along.

How Pleased I am to Discover this posting on your UA-cam Channel= "Vintage Comedy Vault II", of "JACK BENNY IN AUSTRALIA" from Australian Television, from around the Time that JACK BENNY travelled to my Home Country of AUSTRALIA. When JACK BENNY came to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in the 1960's, I took my Sister and myself to see his LIVE Show at THE COMEDY THEATRE, ( Melbourne ) which is a LIVE THEATRE, and is Still Standing to this very day, and is still used to this present time for LIVE Productions ( which is February 2019 - - - at the time of writing this posting ).
That LIVE Presentation at the COMEDY THEATRE of JACK BENNY on Stage with his Guest Artists of Australia's own Johnny O' KEEFE, and from my memory I think he brought with him Canada's own Gisele MacKENZIE as an accompanying Violinist on stage with him to perform a Violin Duet of sorts, with Jack repeatedly interrupting his own Violin Duet with Giselle., with Giselle play in perfect tune, but Jack BENNY deliberately playing Off-Key making us the audience roar laughing...
For me it is still a Very pleasant memory I hold, of having spent a marvellous Evening in the LIVE Theatre, having seen these Three Entertainers, that I have listed here. I am so glad I got to see and hear the Great Comedian JACK BENNY in Person. Thank You for finding this RARE TV Item indeed, from approximately the Eighth Year of Australian Television, which would make this item from around 1964 = if I am correct ( as Australian Television did not commence in my country until the Olympic Games held here in MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA in 1956 ).
May I Doubly thank You for Sharing this with Us. I will repeatedly come back to your UA-cam Channel, to find what other GOODIES that you have Posted in here... May I say Bless you, Whoever you are !!! ( I am a TV & MOVIE NUT. My Two Favourite Feature Films of JACK BENNY are "GEORGE WASHINGTON SLEPT HERE" and without a doubt the Movie he always said was a stinker of his, but is my all time favourite is "THE HORN BLOWS AT MIDNIGHT". And as an added bonus if you can find a copy available is "THE MEANEST MAN IN THE WORLD"... A second Bonus is "JACK BENNY'S Guest appearance in the Film "IT'S IN THE BAG" Starring FRED ALLEN a Comedy "Rival" to Jack Benny, in that film JACK BENNY plays JACK BENNY, and the entire film will definitely make you LAUGH, or IF you find you cannot find LAUGHS THROUGHOUT it, you are hardly alive and barely breathing, and you ought to have your pulse checked, if you don't get many laughs from that one !!!

This was originally a comedy stage tour of Australia starting in Melbourne in 1964 but got adapted as a tv special in Sydney.
Australia rock legend Johnny O' Keefe introduced his new song on this show ,She Wears My Ring and it went to #1

I love Jack Benny, Burns, and Allen, Milton Berle, Phil Silvers. I used to live off Coldwater canyon near Mullholland drive and there is Von's store ( Ralph's)at Coldwater canyon and Ventura blvd, I used to see Phil Silvers there nearly every day! Milton Berle walked every day in Coldwater canyon park and I played backgammon with Lucille Ball at Pips a private club owned by Hugh Hefner .

Many of the Jack Benny routines on this were directly lifted out of things he did with various guest stars on his American TV show, almost word for word. Like the routine with the relatively younger entertainer giving advice to him is pretty much what he did with Johnny Carson.

Think about his working background; in front of an audience new to much of his routine, why not recycle some old tidbits? It was new to them at the time, and they seemed appreciative...

@@davidwellman7114 George Burns did that too, this is one big world and even though we may have seen it many have not, and forever it shall be. they are ageless, timeless locked in time on film and our memories after awhile memories are all we have left.

Strange that the sound cut out during the She Wears My Ring number. I wonder if there was some sort of copyright issue.

In his biography, Fred Allen, Jack Benny's famous feuding partner, talked about visiting Australia on a vaudeville tour. He happened to be there during World War One, and said people just seeing him on the street walking around would treat him rudely because he was a healthy looking young man and they wondered why he wasn't in the Army and fighting in the war. Of course they wouldn't have known he was American and we weren't in the war yet. As it turned out, he had a certain health condition (extreme hypertension) that kept him out of the US Army when we did go into the war.

Life Guard or Life Saver. Interesting. Who knew the Australians are called Life Savers. Normally one is guarding rather than saving. A lifeguard walks around making sure everyone is safe. Lifesavers are evidently permanently saving.

I named my son after him and often drove by his Roxbury home. He wanted his fellow actors to get the laughs and paid his writers the best. This was great but he did stay on stage about 5 years too long.

They should not be kissing each other while they're married but that how it was then. What if their partners got jealous and divorced.
