Very nice! I have a tach that needs some attention. Wish there was a special tool that opened these! But the flat pliers is a good trick on close up. Outstanding love seeing your work!
Thanks Nick, yeah that would be great to have a tool. These gauges just were not meant to be opened up. They were not even meant to last 50 years. Its takes rebels like us to take them on.
Hi Dale, Another interesting video! Wow !! They look brand new now, Great Job & well worth the effort you put into it, I am Glad though that most people don't know how to do this or we would be buying bikes with a couple of hundred miles on the clock, Really glad I found your channel, every time I go on the Desktop one of the first things I do, is to check to see if you have posted a new video!!! Can't wait for that RM 400 video, But don't go killing yourself on it, we wouldn't have any more videos then, Just Kidding you !! THX for posting and Sharing with us all !!!! Keep it up Buddy !!!!! Malc U.K.
Thanks, Malc, yes, I understand, these gauges were not from this machine, so it's not like I am trying to cheat someone. As long as the title states odometer exceeds mechanical limits, we are good to go. This is mine anyway so it will never leave until I'm gone. I do generally set my own back after a resto to zero. Yes, hope I can find an RM400, or something like that. I just have to settle for what I can find at a price I can afford. Thanks for stopping by buddy.
Thanks for making this. My odometer is stuck while the speedometer is working so I’ll have to get in there at some point. Had no idea how to take the thing apart and, yes, will hate to have to pry it open like that.
Question I have a 69 Dt1b bought it new in 69 has 2200 miles on it and I need a set of rubber trim rings for the speedo and Tach you wouldnt know where some are would you ? Thanks Gary Hart
pretty sure your the only one that has ever shown how this is done, fascinating for sure!
I have seen it on the internet, but not on youtube.
@@montana2strokeracer if i remember there was a guy who repaired the old instruments, but not the cosmetic basic stuff.
Just like new Dale. Good job you are honest with a skill like that!
Enjoyed coming along on the ride as always.
Best wishes, Dean.
Thanks buddy, like your new UA-cam handle.

Oh boy, yes this is how it's done, don't wish it on my worst enemy. But it's the only way to access it. Good luck my friend.

Hi Dale. Any idea where i could find good rubber instrument dampers for a 1975 DT400B? Seems impossible.
I have not looked for any for the later models, but my first stop would be KDI reproductions.
Why did you change the face?
The old one looked pretty good.
Yes, it was a decent one, but this was a full restoration, had to go in and clean the insides, so just as well reface when you're in there.

Sure thing Gary.
