Great-thank you for this tutorial. I bought a hobby lock 774, 25+ years ago and have never used it. I am trying to set up classes now that I have the time and patience.
Showing how the seams should look is brilliant, and telling us how to fix them. There’s pictures in my instructions but I just couldn’t get it. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain.
Your videos are so informative and easy to understand that I am making notes about all of your tips in order to remember. Thank you so much for your work! Also, your voice is very clear and pleasant which is great to have with how-to videos. Great video quality and editing as well.
Lots of excellent ideas for overcoming some of the serging nightmares. I confess-- in the past, I have given up in despair. Now I have some tools to deal with some of these situations. THANKS.
Hi Sarah, You have NEVER let me down!! I love how details you go into the tips. Also, how easy to see everything clearly in the videos. I'm so happy you are doing the serger tutorials. Do you have a video of how to do a coverstitch on a serger?
Your video is one of a kind. I was trying to do a rolled hem on a lace bridesmaid dress and had so much trouble with it sliding around. It would catch part of it then miss whole sections. I looked and looked for help on you tube but found nothing. I finally had the idea to use some kind of stabilizer so I used the tearaway as I didn't have water soluble and it worked. Then I searched you tube using stabilizer when serging and found your video. It confirmed that I wasn't the only one who had to use stabilizer. I kept thinking it was my setting on my machine and that I didn't know what I was doing. Thank you so much. Am subscribing to your channel and recommending you to a friend.
Thank you! I've had a serger for years, and you're opening my eyes to the features. I'm a little confused when you mentioned clear elastic. Where does it go?
I have a serger that I bought off of offer up for 100 dlls it was worth close to 400. But I'm so not ready to mess with it but since I found your channel I will start practicing. I've been sewing some projects I had on my table already but as soon as I'm done with the one at hand I will be messing with my serger following your awesome videos.
fantastic very informative, clear and concise such a pleasant voice to listen to also! you have explained this so well i have now (i think) got a pretty good overlocked/serged edge at long last!! thank you
I'm making a knit top from jersey 4-way stretchy fabric and I'm using my serger to sew the seams. I want to stabilize the shoulder seams and that 'clear elastic' technique you referenced in your video interests me. Do you trim off the excess elastic after you serge the seam?
Thank you - very helpful. However, I'm a little confused about the rolled edges. Are the cutters disengaged? My machine is old, and I'm not sure that's even possible.
Please can you help me with " seam width adjustment knob" . I'm having issues to run new SINGER SERGER, AND. Can't get it going... It's skipping stitch as well
I sure wish I had this info a couple of months back. I completely ruined a small organza bag when I tried to fix it after it started coming apart. I have had my serger for several years but this was the first time I tried it using a shear fabric. I don't know why I didn't think of a stabilizer. Doh!
Hi, thank you for this tutorial, it gave quite a few good hints. I stumbled across it looking for a way to add stabilizing on a stretch lace fabric so that I can add an invisible zip ...any hints for this? Thanking youinanticipation
We do have a great video on the invisible zipper foot you may find helpful. You can watch it via the link: www.sewingpartsonline.com/blog/how-to-use-an-invisible-zipper-foot/
I am new to sergering my husband bought me a surprize machine a few weeks ago - 099 Jaguar do you have any videos on creating your own piping? I have created some practise pieces but there is little material left on the piping when I have finished which will create difficulties when joining into my seat covers. Loved the video

My sister gave me a serger as a present . I think your tutorial is going to help me understand the mystery of the serger machine. Thank you
Clear elastic tape at the shoulder seams. Brilliant! I'm going to buy a big spool of this stuff.
Great tips..especially using the fabric itself as a stabilizer. Never would have thought of that

You're so welcome! You can do it!
thank you
You just solved my most common challnge.
What is a good stitch setting for a 4 thread serger for sewing canvas?
I would probably stick with the standard settings, but reduce my tension to 3. If you see any puckering, you may need to increase your stitch length.
I can't get my serger to hold a seam together it is way to loose on the right side showing all my stitches, please help, I got the machine for Christmas and can't seem to fix this with the tension dials or find a demo that covers it!
Hello Carole! I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I would suggest emailing our customer service team at info@sewingpartsonline.com and they would be able to direct towards troubleshooting that issue. We look forward to hearing from you!
Carol Hasting: are you sure thread is between the tension disc and not between a disc and side of machine? Just a suggestion.
Does clear elastic survive being washed?
We recommend hand washing any material with elastic and hang to dry. Garments will last longer.
