i'm glad EE is over his "pun not intended phase" after super blatant puns like the 1 about Syrup getting out of a sticky situation. it lets him just be funny
Ness was also the character that eliminated Riddles at Smash Con. Riddles may need to grind out that matchup more, or find a better character pick vs Ness, cause the way the character was weaving around Kazuya's moves and dishing out punishment seems very annoying to deal with.
Halfway thru and Omg these two are Nuts! Back to back 0 deaths at the start for Kazuya, yet Syrups ness answers to come back in the second for a win. 1 to 1 now, this is interesting indeed
@@BBB-pe3ip what I mean is that there is a lot of times where he would've whiffed a hit but the turnaround saved him, sure its annoying that it faults sometimes but in the end it has helped him a lot more
I love this set so, so much. The first hit that connects is a random Kazuya forward smash. THREE games start with (very quick!) zero-to-deaths, yet FOUR of them go to last stock, last hit. “Unpredictable” doesn’t even begin to describe how wild this was to watch live.
Syrup played amazing but man Ness's kit is so good at shutting down shotos. Advantage Disadvantage Neutral Off-Stage even boxing, the one thing shotos were built to be the best at get outboxed by ness's disjoints. i feel like if it wasn't for Kazuya's raw kill power i don't think this match would have been nearly as close
That game 5 was so brutal for Kazuya. Ness was just rushing him down and every time riddles finally landed on the ground all he could do was hold shield over and over and then get shield poked by the ness F-air train. Sooo hard to adapt to.
DLC privilege for sure. They both played great but I mean syrup was combo-ing for an entire 30 seconds for Kazuya to press a couple buttons, stun lock, and kill ness lol
watching syrup gets me so hyped, seeing him go for more optimal ness combos is so cool. cant wait for him to get more consistent with held magnet combos.
Does anyone know how to use ness’s down smash yo-yo attack to make it go forward like he did at 9:25? Every time I press it it goes backward, but I wanna ledge trap people w it, I have to be back turned if I want it to be in front of me
That first stock of the first game though, is there even a bigger flex than starting the match with a sweet spot F-smash? And then a beautiful 0-death afterwards. And then the pain in the following stock of Kazuya struggling to kill when Ness was over 150% (it can be quite difficult to land a kill sometimes as Kazuya since so many of his moves, especially his faster options, have a launch angle which sends the opponent right to the upper corner of the screen, or they just have low or set knockback. Great and hilarious commentary too, “This is a walk in the park for Kazuya, bro, he aint never had a problem killing no kids... His dad tried to kill him it’s just in the family.” Great plays from both players and all that after only watching the first game.
Riddles did the same. He conditioned shield at 6:29 You're not wrong though. Seemed like Riddles lost his composure a bit at the end after his misinput and Syrup really capitalized on that. He exploded in the last match. It's difficult to contend with Syrups massive combo damage and Kazuya's recovery is very exploitable in this matchup. It's no mistake that Riddles wanted to play more defensively but Syrup was just too oppressive and made almost no mistakes opening him up. Good stuff from both of em though. You have to be stupidly skilled to match Riddles combo game.
9 minutes in and I can already tell that Riddles execution is not on point at all this entire set. Of course its still better than 90% of the kazuya player but you can how Riddles was afraid to do any sort of fast wave dash and chose to do small controlled ones instead. This is uncharacteristic of how Riddles play when he's feeling it. Moreover there were numerous misinputs that "worked out" in his favor such as the aerial side B at 8:30. As a kazuya main, I would hope Riddles had tried to go for aerial down B in that situation because thats a garunteed kill on town and city using platforms. He also did A LOT of down smash instead of electrics because of crossups but even then the cross up should have gave him a Stature kick if he had perform the electric correctly. Whats very important that people need to be aware of with Kazuya you CANNOT maintain that level of execution every game you play. You will have days where you miss key electrics to close out games. This is clear when Riddles did an uptilt 1 into d/f A rather than electric to confirm the kill on Ness or even flash kick during a combo when it clearly was suppose to be a stature kick to continue the combo on ness game 5. He also felt very impatient as the usual riddles trying to up B after an electric when a platform was nearby in Town. Riddles playing on point would normally had just waited for a tech option and then down B to catch the tech situation since up B is not true given ur opponents tech on the platform. A tech chase would have been optimal. At 10:30 was an easy DGF for Riddles in the combo but instead opted to go for an electric because he most likely felt rushed in his performance and auto piloted to an electric in the combo rather than focus on the percent which costed him another kill. It hurts to see this many execution mistakes from Riddles but it happens when you pilot a character like Kazuya. I think Riddles needs to look for a secondary not just for Kazuyas bad matchups but also for when Riddles is not playing on point. It is completely okay to choose a simpler more comfortable character when you are not mentally feeling okay for the execution. Respects to Syrup for winning. I hope that Riddles take this opportunity to choose a secondary and switch in a set whenever his kazuya is not feeling polished. It would benefit the audience and himself to switch if he feels his execution is lacking a certain day.
Does Riddles not consider Terry his secondary? I've seen him on twitter constantly say that Kazuya's Match up spread doesn't warrant him being a solo main.
