Your tax rate in Lakewood is among the LOWEST IN THE COUNTRY. The national average is 1.07% of your property value in property taxes yearly. Lakewood is about .5%. Because your property value increased and you gained a couple hundred thousand dollars in equity in the last few years, you now have to pay another $1,000 in property taxes a year. Sir. Boo hoo. Unlike other states, let's just take Nebraska for example, which is at 1.61% which is substantially HIGHER than the national average. Crime stats I took from the website shown, Niche.com. In which I state that crime rates aare higher than the national average, which is unfortunate. Why? I don't know, but I'm sure someone much smarter than me does. (For anyone reading my comment above and recognizing any snarkiness I may have, the reason is because this man called me, and continued to tell me how I was lying to people about Lakewood and berading me for any of the information I shared. He wanted me to "tell the truth" about how lakewood sucks and no one should move here. We all have an impact on our communities as individuals. If there's a problem, do something about it. And Mike, if you do want to move, and you think the city is so horrible, you'd better do so while there are still more people wanting to buy there than sell. The Denver Metro area is one of the best cities in the world, and I invite anyone to come find out why.)
