Lakewood is great. More affordable than other parts of Denver, yet centrally located. Easy to get to anywhere.

We've been seeing lots of different markets right now. And close to the foothills or in the foothills I've heard of an insurance moratorium due to the fires too. So that could be contributing. But, during election years this is the norm.

I grew up in Green Mtn. Great place! I mean having Red Rocks as your backyard was amazing!

Let's talk taxes. Lakewood has thghe highest sales tax for a city that is not a full service city. You will have to pay for you trash, water, sewer and the storm water fees. Since this video the property taxes has increased by 80%. As far as crime i don't know where he gets hi numbers. Lakewood is in the top 10% for violent crimes in the country all i suggest is check it out your self Google Lakewood co crime statistics.

Let's talk taxes. Sales tax in particular. Lakewood falls 15th on the list in Colorado for sales tax rates. This is behind Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Parker, Aurora, Thornton, Arvada, Denver, Boulder, Westminster and the list goes on. The national average for sales taxes for a city is 7.12%. Lakewood is 7.5%. That's not high, sir.
65% of all cities in the ENTIRE U.S. people pay for their own trash. 87.5% of all cities in the U.S. the homeowner pays for thier own water usage and sewer usage. This is not uncommon, sir.
Let's talk Property Taxes. Your property value has been assessed at 80% higher if your taxes went up that much. NOT YOUR TAX RATE! Your tax rate in Lakewood is among the LOWEST IN THE COUNTRY. The national average is 1.07% of your property value in property taxes yearly. Lakewood is about .5%. Because your property value increased and you gained a couple hundred thousand dollars in equity in the last few years, you now have to pay another $1,000 in property taxes a year. Sir. Boo hoo. Unlike other states, let's just take Nebraska for example, which is at 1.61% which is substantially HIGHER than the national average.
Crime stats I took from the website shown, Niche.com. In which I state that crime rates aare higher than the national average, which is unfortunate. Why? I don't know, but I'm sure someone much smarter than me does.
(For anyone reading my comment above and recognizing any snarkiness I may have, the reason is because this man called me, and continued to tell me how I was lying to people about Lakewood and berading me for any of the information I shared. He wanted me to "tell the truth" about how lakewood sucks and no one should move here. We all have an impact on our communities as individuals. If there's a problem, do something about it. And Mike, if you do want to move, and you think the city is so horrible, you'd better do so while there are still more people wanting to buy there than sell. The Denver Metro area is one of the best cities in the world, and I invite anyone to come find out why.)
