I don't quote on Facebook. I get that you want instant gratification, but I'm a one man shop. That's just not practical. I value my privacy from spying apps, I value the integrity of your data, and I want to have the best chance of doing your job right the first time. Quoting on social media just doesn't do that.
Social media apps are very invasive. If you have ever read the terms of service, you might refuse to install one on your own mobile device. I don't install them on mine. I only access those platforms by web browser, where I have security software that can protect me, and your data, atleast to a limited extent, as long as we don't communicate your data on those platforms.
If you want the quickest response from me at ANY given time, use the contact form on my website, or drop me an email. REALLY! Sure you might catch me online, but you can use the contact form or send an email at ANY time.
How about by phone. If you want to chat send me your phone number and the best time of day to call you. If you want a call please answer the phone. I do not carry my phone on the shop floor for safety reasons. Calling back after screening my call is not efficient use of your time or mine playing phone tag. Mills and lathes can make you very dead if you get distracted. AND I won't be held to anything said on the phone. Details go in emails.
There is a big reason I want detail in emails. I want to do your job right the first time. I want to quickly review your job to get started when I get to it. I always have a backlog of custom work. Custom jobs are first paid first made, and by the time I get to your job I won't remember the details of a phone call, or we may remember them differently, and I want to do your job right the first time. The way that was actually (WRITTEN). If everything is in emails I can easily bring up all the emails to and from you and reread them when I am ready to start on your job. If you hit me up on Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, Twitter/X, TikTok, in the comments of a Rumble or UA-cam video, on Threads, or on LinkedIn the first thing I have to do is try to remember where to find your information. None of those platforms are easily sortable or filterable when I do figure out which one. I just want customer job data in one secure place. My email inbox. That way I have the best chance to do your job right the first time.
Remember, I'll get your communication fastest at ANY time if you drop me an email or use the contact form. I don't have any of those social media apps installed on my phone. If I'm out getting material and shop supplies your email WILL ping on my phone. As quick as its safe to do so I'll check to see if you need an quick reply. If I'm out fishing. Same thing. If I'm doing an offroad recovery to rescue somebody stuck in the sand. Yep. My phone will ding. Usually within a minute. If you drop me a comment on a social media post or messenger I won't get it until much later. Okay if I am hunting my phone will be on silent, but I'm as bad as anybody about checking my phone. I'll get your email as quick its possible to get it.
A lot of times I explain this to people, and I never hear from them again. They ghost me. Maybe they think I'm rude, or I don't want their business, or I am an asshole. No. I may be a rude asshole, but that's not why I want your details in my inbox. I want your job details in my email inbox because I want to do your job right the first time.
I do respond to all legit email and contact form requests. If you don't get my reply check your junk mail folder and if necessary contact me again.
