    Of all the ways of traveling through space, this is the one method that I would avoid. Sure, the ship travels great distances but it just seems that 99% of the wormholes encountered seemed disastrous with the exception of the Bajoran wormhole. I will stick to warp 9.975 for now.

    The wormhole in TMP... If you think about it, that's a hell of a technology to want to exploit. Woluldn't that have been a transwarp conduit? If you can create wormholes on the fly by misaligning your warp field, you'd probably want to just do that all the time instead of ripping through space in a warp bubble. Seems like it might be a more efficient way to travel.

    While not totally related to the video, I think its interesting to mention that in the William Shatner novel "The Return" its revealed that it was the Borg who upgraded the Voyager 6 probe into what became V'Ger. One of the more annoying things about The Motion Picture is that Trek never goes back and revisits the data gained from the V'ger encounter... And yes, I see it as just one of the things.
    About wormholes, Doohan said that I don't know a damn thing about the science behind all the stuff we do, but I know that there is no difference between space and time 'cause you can't have one without the other. The "wormhole" in the first motion picture never made sense to me. Later films and TV series never mentioned a wormhole near the solar system either. Were the science advisors available back then? Or was it a simple writer's neglect. What would make sense given the tech and lore is that when they jumped to warp, the bubble captured an asteroid in front of them which then started drifting towards the ship in the warp bubble, endangering the ship. If such capture is not a thing, how did the Delta Flyer enter the slipstream in front of Voyager when only Voyager is mentioned to have the drive?

    • @TriAngulumAudioStudios
      @TriAngulumAudioStudios  5 років тому +2

      That's because it was a wormhole created by an engine imbalance not an actual static wormhole! :) And the asteroid was captured because the ship wasnt dropped in to subspace to achieve warp... At least not fully! As for Voyager, the slip stream conduit is projected in front of Voyager by the ship itself... So it makes sense the Flyer could travel ahead... What doesnt make sense is how after Voyager dropped out of Slipstream how the flyer continued... The only wqs would be if both ships were generating the field some how for each ship... But then that also doesnt make sense as the whole point of the flyer was to map Voyagers slipstream...

  • @frictionRx5

    The Bajoran Wormhole was NOT artificial, I checked with multiple sources and this is what was said..."Because it was stable, the Bajoran wormhole did not have any of the usual resonance waves found in other wormholes. (DS9: "Emissary") It was theorized by Starfleet that the wormhole was formed by verteron, particles that were self-sustaining in nature. (DS9: "In the Hands of the Prophets") Highly elevated levels of neutrinos were also commonly detected prior to the appearance of the wormhole's event horizon, and as a vessel traversed the passage. It was believed that verteron nodes inside the wormhole played a large part in keeping the wormhole stable." Hence there is nothing in Star Trek canon, that suggest the Bajoran Wormhole is artificial.

      Im sorry but you didnt do your research very well, I looked at the same article you just quoted memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Bajoran_wormhole and you missed this whole paragraph... "This wormhole was constructed by an alien intelligence. Most wormholes are either naturally occurring or the result of dangerous warp drive malfunctions." Since this was from a graphic seen on screen in an episode that makes it canon and Constructed= artificial, thus it is an artificially created wormhole and that is canon!
