Hello haalu, two weeks ago I started knitting socks for my sons; I watched several videos and only two techniques helped me, I like how you hold the yarn on your left hand! I am doing it like that and it really makes it fast and easy on my hands. Thank you for sharing.😊😁
Thank you :) Is that true? :D How do you purl? Do you have an easier technique? I have to say shortly before shooting this series I changed my purling style, so at this point I was a bit stiff while purling :D
How she decides to do it doesn't matter. For her, this method IS probably easier. What matters is she gets it done and her stitches are beautiful and even. I don't knit or purl this way either but I love watching her hands and I love the beauty of her stitches.
I actually purl similar to this! It’s called a Norwegian purl. And it’s really handy when doing ribbing because you don’t have to switch the yarn placement, just the location of the right needling at the beginning(either behind or in front of the working yarn). Keep knitting the way you enjoy and that feels comfortable to you! Point is, you’re still making beautiful purl stitches.
I would change to the heel color at the beginning of the heel flap and then change back to the original color before I start to knit the gusset (so right after the decreases for the cap are finished).
Hello Haalu, I love your knitting style. I am a "thrower" and I think your way is much more efficient and so nice to watch. That is not what causes me to comment though. I have just started the heel flap and I can't see how after knitting needle one onto needle 4 the working yarn is in the correct place for me to k2 and purl back. What could I be doing wrong?
Hey Barb! I am sorry, because I have no idea how to do these things as a thrower but I did a bit of searching on UA-cam and I found a few videos by WoolAndTheGang, which might be helpful? In this video ( ua-cam.com/video/4XXky5Mo5p8/v-deo.html ) they turn a blanket after knitting the front row and also knit the first stitches in the back row. And in this video ( ua-cam.com/video/ykoeMeeIIuc/v-deo.html ) they show how to switch between knitting and purling. I hope this is a bit helpful, because I myself am not really familiar with other knitting styles, sorry! Let me know how your heel turns out! ♥
Hey Sonia! Thank you :) Are they still visible after you wash the socks? I had a problem with them as well when I first started knitting but after a few washes the ladders were gone. To avoid ladders I try to knit the first stitch of a needle a bit tighter than the rest of the stitches. I have also heard that the ladders are not as visible if you sometimes knit one or two stitches of the next needle with your current needle instead of switching to a new needle to change the places where your needles meet. That way you won't have the gaps in the same place in every round. Does that help?
hello Haalu, I don't understand how many rows of the heel flap I've made, does the row where you collide needle 1 and needle 4 is the first or you start counting in the first purl row?
Hi Ruth! I start counting at the row where I collide the needles. Since the heel flap is an even amount of rows long and the last row should be a purl row, that is the easiest way to count :)
on one of my socks i didn't count that colliding part but then I read this and did it correctly on the other sock, i still need to knit the foot for both socks but i wonder if the 2nd socks will need extra stitches to make them even with the extra i did on the first one?

Love the x2 knit stitches on purl row, very neat! X
Great tutorial. Thanks. But I must say, I´ve never seen anyone purl like you do. You´re making it harder than it has to be. Love the yarn.

hi if i were to do a different colour for the heal how would i do that? 😊

As many rows as you have stitches on the two needles.....💕
You 🙏 thankyou
Thanks from me too ♡♡♡

I have trouble with ladders, any tips? great tutorial

I have no wash them yet, but I will try your tips. thank you so much! love your tutorials!
hello. beautiful tutorial. May I ask where you find the yarn? thank you
Thank you :) I bought the yarn a few years ago but maybe you can still find it online. The yarn is called Opal "Smile Lebensfreude" in color 7930.
Thank you. Your technique is wonderful.
