Does FPS/Hz really affect Accuracy | osu!mania

- This is moreso what i was able to feel, and not exactly super data oriented, so the data aspect of this video might be lacking, but as a said, i'm mostly doing this from an accuracy player's perspective, and was curious if lower FPS/HZ really hinders the ability to set low UR scores!!

Bar skins appear to be easier to read on a lower hz setting. dont ask me why but I switch from 240hz to 60hz refresh rate on my monitor whenever I use bars because they seem thicker and I seem to hit less late. It sometimes boosts my accuracy from a low A rank to an S rank on certain speed/tech maps and I know this isnt placebo because Ive tried this way too many times. maybe someone knows what I mean
why
did u even read the post @@jseus
Yeah I've gotta agree, I believe it's the extra motion blur that 60 hertz adds that works better with simple shapes than more complex ones like circles or triangles
i feel like i get motion sickness from the 144hz but at 60hz its completely readable and not too fast to focus on
this is actually really cool good video :D
2:25 I am choppy and proud.
lol
really well edited and informative video, as always! do you plan on releasing your new/current skin soon?
yes! i'm hoping that this will be the next video
You could do a comparison between different computers. A decent amount of players don't have a good pc so doing such comparison would be interesting to see if it's the setup or the player issue.
as a person who used to play on a windows vista, i see this as an absolute win
when the first try to playing osu mania on 144/165 hz im very confuse after that. i know that is very smooth, you can easily to read the pattern, but its very hard to hit the note so accurately on the judgement line thats thats what i feel. so, for me scroll speed and offsets is very important, its helpfull for adaptation, especially for acc player. sorry for my English 🙏
60hz objectively is harder to play on because it looks and feels shit, but after 120hz its all placebo and you are like 99% same performance as you would be on 360hz
Unlimited for me is more consistent. Idk if it’s a latency thing or just something with me. I’m down to try power save again though
I play with 60Hz and it's not that bad, I play with 28 speed on 4k and 27 on 6k/7k
And I can do 4.8-5.3* maps on 4k and Ive cleared 8th Dan
The only thing I don't like is that I can't play on speeds higher than 30
Even if you have a high refresh rate monitor I wouldn’t recommend going above 31. Idk if it’s just me but the notes get a little blurry when my stamina goes down the drain
Try this but with
for me, i use unlimited (around 4-5k fps) on 75hz, max refresh rate i can get. I find using unlimted is theoretically better because of less input latency (the game engine allows 1 input per frame, so more frames means more chances to make an input), idk about the micro-stutters people say they experience, I don't get them (or feel them) and if it's the case, I'm not sure then. My scores across both optimal and unlimted are not much different so it's probably just a small 1% difference, if that. Probably doesn't matter what you select, but if you get those stutters, stay on optimal i guess.
i remember peppy saying inputs are polled at 1000hz (not sure if this applies to stable too) but even then, our input devices can't go above that usually, or the monitor itself. so maybe all the extra frames above 1k might not matter so much
@@KcHecKa if peppy has capped it then there's no reason to go over 1k fps then ig
In other games without the limiter, those frames make a difference even if you can't necessarily see them, it just allows much more precise inputs, the difference is prolly really small still. In geometry dash's old physics engine, the gameplay physics behaves differently at different fps's before it was fixed in 2.2 update, as an example
interesting
I play on a CRT monitor, 467 hitpos 32 scroll speed, hz and fps don't really matter as long as you know how to overcome it and adapt to it.
Run me that crt monitor. I need one in my life
the world if somebody skilled enough would do this for std + compare with mcosu
forsen
2:27 I play with 60hz 😭🤙🏿 xD (Skin plis 😼💯(
I was able to play standard better on 60 hz than the full 144/165 hz on my monitor.
Unlimited 144 i dont give a fvck
what fps/Hz do you run ?
Soundsphere: "Unlimited" (1000fps) 165hz
Quaver: Unlimited 165hz I think?? Or Vsync
I got pseudo-used to 240fps on BMS, but run most if not all of my other rhythm games unlocked hahaha
Hz wise, 60hz is the only option I got unless I:
A) Overclock my monitor a bit (I haven't tried going higher than 75hz)
B) Change my desktop resolution to have "native" 75hz (probably 4:3 stretched/letterboxed) and see if I can get used to it again
Display: Samsung F350 24" (I don't like it, but it's what I was able to buy with the little money I had at the time)
osu!mania "Optimal" at 144hz
Unlimited (300fps) 59hz
Pls don't bully
144 (custom limit) and 60hz
