Oh your fiddle playing is grade A+++. You are so talented and beautiful ❤❤❤. Your smile just warms my heart. I always look forward to watching your videos.
Please !!! Jump at the sun tutorial. Please!!! Please!!! Please!!! It's a very beautiful tune that everyone wants to learn. You have an awesome job. Regards from Peru!!!
This is so awesome! Seeing these places, even on video, is fantastic. The real treat is getting to hear the amazing skill and dedication come through in your playing :) Thank you so much for sharing these, as they keep me motivated to learn to play my own violin. You truly have a gift, and I am thankful that you also have the kindness to share it with the world!! Salutations from Florida
What a wonderful trip for you! We live in Wales, but spend several months over the summer in the Highlands of Scotland. The young musical talent up there is amazing! A friend is just moving there from England & says her 8yr old son will have the opportunity in school of learning up to 4 instruments if he wants to -not the case in England or Wales....I am not a very good or advanced fiddle player, but buy a new fiddle book every time I go up to Scotland!😁
I just have to say......I love this video and song! !! 😁😁The songs sound so good together!! It makes me so happy when I listen to this and watch you and your sweet smile!!
Hi Katy!I'm glad to see you made a trip to see us in the UK. There is a lot of years of history in this country, old history, whereas in America the history is more modern history. If you can come again visit Ireland, the music there oozes out of the pores of the people, and buskers are every where.Sorry the weather was not too good, but we get what is left of your weather after it has crossed the Atlantic.I hope you can find some worthy tunes on your CDs and in the tune books to dazzle us with your dexterity.I do hope you can come again, and find more music in England, there are many fine musicians, playing and singing here.Yours Peter Leonard
Hi there, I'm half Irish, and half Italian, so tell me which bit of American history, did my forebears destroy? Actually I was trying to say that there is still,a lot more in the UK for Katy to see, than she managed on this visit. I was not trying to disparage America in any way. For instance how many Motte and Baileys did the Normans build in New England, following there invasion of Britain in 1066?
Hurricane G-E-L! That is OK. I feel similarly about the UK. I don't take to criticism well either. I know America has a great history, dramatic scenery, and natural wonders, and a very interesting mix of people. The UK has just a little more going back in time, and on a much smaller scale. We are packed into a mini, while you are in a stretched limousine. Peter
This isn't intended to provoke any ire, and I hope it won't. I just think some reflection on the comments made earlier may be in order. The musical melting pot is one thing, but European colonialists, British, French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian ... and others, have had a very destructive effect on America ... ask a Native if you know one? We invaded America ... we didn't discover it. Katy, my sincere apologies for posting this on your wonderful music channel. It's not something I would normally do. I just hope it may provide some people with a little food for thought. Thank you for your wonderful music, and inspirational playing. Look forward to hearing lots more!
That was awesome. I recognized the last tune from Jay Ungers Lovers Waltz CD. For some reason that piece seems it would fit a silent movie...where the hero was trying to rescue a damsel in distress.
What an amazing experience! Thank you for sharing. I love traditional Scottish music, so anything you do with your related footage would get a watch and a smile from me. :-)
You have immense talent. I played Celtic for years and later English ballads/folk tunes and we could never seem to find the right fiddle player. I'm in Boston, but I have a lot of very good friends in England, you might want to check out the West Country next time, because that is where all the good traditional music is, as well as folk clubs and festivals and the like.
I loved all the music everywhere! It was so much fun, and I learned a lot! And the scenery is really pretty, too. It's very green! I'm used to everything being kind of dry in Colorado, so I really liked how green and alive everything was. =)
Wonderful playing and great video! I found this video after learning Jump at the Sun and wanted to play along with someone. Lively! And I love how you shift to a different key. This tune is played with The Coleraine and another I don't recall at the session at my local. They call it the Halloween set because it's spooky. The rest of the tunes you played I am unfamiliar with, but they were great! I love the little twists that make them so interesting.
I hope the next time you visit Glasgow, I can catch you perform somewhere!! I'm so glad you had such a good time while you were here. Scotland is the best!!
Spectacular scenery! My fav, and best vid ever. I love your fast reel playing, It is spot on. I saw where you were in Inverness. I love Inverness with friends there, and my choice to live there. Wonderful watching you!
Wow Katy ... that must have been some travel itinerary! I hope visiting some of the places the music you are so adept at originates from was a good - if sometimes damp - experience. Definitely visit Ireland next time if you can as suggested in the comments, and if you make it to Donegal and the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, you'll have glimpsed a little bit of heaven. I'm a Scot, so delighted to see all the places you were able to visit in the video. Keep up the good work!!!
Great playing & video Katy, next time in UK visit the south west of England - plenty of sessions going on here each week. Sidmouth folk festival goes on for a whole week in the summer with plenty of sessions! Kind regards
So glad you got to visit the UK. Loved the video and look forward to more scenes from the UK. If you ever get a chance to go to Ireland, jump at it. I liked it better than England and Scotland for many reasons.
Wow awesome Katy :D ! The violin as much as the landscape! I especially liked the first song! It looks like that Scotland is a beautiful country :D I'll be waiting the second video with impatience! Thank you for your videos!
Hi Katy! Thank you for sharing this video! I love irish, scottish and english tunes, and the way you play them! I visited UK in july of this year and i recognized some places were i have been to! And please please please make a video with scottish tunes! I was in Scotland only for two days, and it was not enough, it is such a beautiful(and big:)) country! And thanks for tutorials - although i'm playing not violin( i play ukulele, guitar and flute), it is much easier to learn with you, then with sheet music! I have already learned "drunken sailor" and now i'm learning "drowsy maggie" Thanks!!!
I'm definitely planning to make the Scottish video! I have about half of it done, so I'm hoping to get a lot more completed this weekend. I'm glad that the tutorials are helping! I hope you have fun practicing! ^_^
That's so awesome; nice place to visit. My cousin from the Chicago area is flying to Ireland on Saturday the 26th. She's really looking forward to this! I'm still trying to get you to play some Vivaldi, even if it's only a sample piece! lol... 🌞
Great tunes, and great places! I would suggest visiting sheffield but well... theres nothing there except industrial museums! Will you be transcribing these tunes and adding them to your collection online?
Wow! That's great. Sounds so amazing. I have so many questions for you. You're very talented, not just as a musician but the way you put your videos together. I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We have an Expo that just about to start. There's lots of rides, and great things to do there. Can you come and visit? and play for everyone? Also, are you married? Single, In a relationship, you're very pretty. I'm a Born-Again Christian that hasn't travelled much. But I work at the Airport in Toronto. YYZ. I can go places if I want too.
+Ajit Parmar I did! ^_^ It was the clip that the crow flew through. I didn't have a tripod or someone to hold the camera closer to the stones, so I had to use a nearby bench. :)
I really like these tunes and love how you play them! I've been learning them on the flute thanks to your videos :) by the way, how does it work when a tune is written by someone and copyrighted? I want to post myself playing these tunes but don't know what you have to do. Can I just mention who it is written by? Is that enough? Thank you so much 😊
Sheffield has a fantastic selection of sessions going on. I recommend also popping over during the spring, you'll find all kinds of interesting things going on www.sheffieldseshfest.org.uk/
At some point, when the virus gives a chance, please visit Finland and Kaustinen folk music festival. I guarantee there's music you want to hear and people who want to hear you play.
Have always wanted to learn the fiddle/violin. You are an amazing player. What would the learning curve be for an adult former gamer in terms of finger dexterity?
@@norwayslazinger A few towns and cities require a permit for busking, but generally you can just pitch up and play. You do need one if selling CDs though (street trading). Most have guidelines for buskers on amount of time spent on any one pitch and popular touristy cities often have informal arrangements between street performers. Where a permit is needed it is generally free. London is different of course, where there are certain area you need to apply and pay for a pitch. It is certainly not illegal on public land, but most likely will be on private land that is open to the public like shopping centres etc.
Been rewatching this every few days; sounds great. Is there one set of sheet music for the medley or did you just learn all three separately and play them together?
Oh your fiddle playing is grade A+++. You are so talented and beautiful ❤❤❤. Your smile just warms my heart. I always look forward to watching your videos.
It always makes me happy when you smile - it is infectious. Keep it up!

LOVE IT! EVERY THING! THE DESTINATION, THE SMILE, THE MUSIC EVERYTHING!!!
Thank you, it's beautiful ! The trains dancing to the violin never fail to make me smile.
It's been a while since I've heard wizards walk. My brother and I used to play it as a duet. Thank you for letting me relive fond memories
three of my all time favorite fiddle songs stacked into one youtube video! pure magic!
Quite the trip around the sceptred Isle. Conwy, Glenfinnan and plenty of weather. I'll bet there were a few fiddler's rallies along the way too.
Beautiful medley and footage! You’re the best!
Thanks for taking me on your trip.
Wow, you hit a lot of sights! Treasure the memories. Please let us know if you ever come to Portugal.

I recognized Rhos-on-Sea in the video! Those are three challenging tunes. Kudos for syncing the tempo so ably in the live segments.
That was awesome Katy; thanks for taking us along for the ride!! Wish I could have been there too!!
Thank you for watching and listening! =) I wish I could go back right now...It's such a neat place over there. ^_^
Awesome music always, I skipped the UK and went to Ireland, maybe I missed out. Nice time lapse with the mist too.
2:20 (wizards walk)
Ignore this, I’m learning this tune and was just marking the time so I could listen to it 😋
