Goldspot sells the Benu nibs. You're so right they they are wet nibs that write on the broad side. I love my fines. But I plan to send a medium to be ground into a cursive italic soon.
I got my Fine schmidt nib from Vanness during a sale, but I didn't want to bother them with sending it back xD I will just have someone smooth and perhaps realign the nibs correctly at the pen show in Chicago, but I'll check out Goldspot if they still have any (maybe an EF) :D Thanks for watching and sharing! I love Benu pens and I have eight of them, including the Sundae By The Pool, designed by Eric Gama. Benu is a rabbit hole, all by itself. Out of all your pens, my favorite is the Leonardo Mother Of Pearl. That is a pen that dreams are made of.

I don't find myself writing with my BENUs often, I'm not sure why, because they are so pretty. The grip sections do feel a bit greasy to me every time I use them, but maybe a few flushes of water and soap can get rid of that haha!

Enjoyable watch. Many points I resonate with - the Glauco Cambon is beautiful and the brass barrel gives the M600 some much needed mass; 23k Pd nib on the Visconti is a little mushy and less precise than desired; the M1000 is a great platform for urushi/maki-e work - disassembles easily and a large canvas for decoration; Leonardo makes awesome pens and you have so many great ones; the Pineider arco should really line up for that MSRP!

I realized that I can probably just use my blunt syringe needle to refill that single cartridge of ink that came with that maki-e pen and continue using it with any ink color that way hahah! I will do that in 2024!

You have such a great collection! My current favorites are the Leonardo Rangoli, the Leonardo Foresta Umbra, the Retro 51 Autumn Leaves, the Opus 88 Blizzard, the Benu Minima Día de los Muertos, and the Benu Hanukkah Talisman. Maybe it's the way I'm holding the pen, but the broad nib on the Talisman writes more like a medium now that I've gotten used to seeing and using it. I also love my Sailor PGS Cobra in broad, though my strongest preference is still for fines, extra fines, and mediums that lean towards fine.
Love your Retro 51s!! :) I definitely prefer fine and extra fine (western). I have not ventured into Japanese EF's yet, so that will be interesting!! :)
Your collection is fantastic, friend! Of all your pens, the first 3 that I liked the most were: 1- Visconti Homo Sapiens bronze age; 2 Pilot Custom 823; 3 Pelikan M605.

It’s a pen which my mother got for me on my birthday back in August of this year; mine has a broad nib, which writes finer than I expected. - Amazing collection of pens you have there! Someday I will buy a Pilot Custom 823 next year, but I’ll have to wait until I can afford one! Maybe a Benu Euphoria would be my best purchase, I’ll just have to find which colour suits my style! - Have a great day!

I love gold nibs so much xD As for BENU, I really want the ZEN custom painted pen--I know painted pens aren't for most people, but that one is just so pretty/blingy, yet has such peaceful vibes! Great collection. I have the Sailor PGS Shikiori jade with purple finals and it was love at first sight. I got mine from Japan when it was not available in the states. Probably paid too much but it was a grail pen for me and my first 21k nib. I also have the same pen roll...
Oh yes I love this pen roll so much!!! Mount Fuji is everything! I want an Aurora pen that has Mount Fuji engraved into the grip section lol. Since I love my Aurora. And yeah the spring rain pro gear slim was love at first sight! I definitely paid more than I needed to, but it’s ok! It is a favorite among my sailors! Thank you so much for watching!

Gorgeous collection. I’m just dipping my toe into fountain pens. I have the Sailor PGS in winter rain. It’s soooo pretty. I’m about to order my first Leonardo. I’m getting the momento zero in jade. I could decide between that or the ester room estie in sea glass…. But I think I’ve finally settled on the Leonardo. 😅
Ooo, how many months have you been collecting? :) This will be about my two year mark. The Sound of Rain series is so beautiful. It feels so good to complete a collection xD I ended up selling my Esterbrook. I prefer Leonardos more and those two brands have a lot of resins that overlap, such as the Sea glass and Jade - both quite similar, but both very beautiful. You will love your Leonardo :)
We do not have the same taste in pens, but think we can still be buddies. : ) Love my Jinhaos. The only Sailor I have is the Shikiori Yozakura. Do want a journaler nib. Tried to get that on the Estie Maui that I got at the SF Pen Show, but they were out.

Thank you! My Kilk Luna is definitely one of a kind in my collection! It writes pretty broad, wet, soft and smooth - and even has a lovely bouncy flex for a steel nib. A perfect pen for shimmers!

You definitely shouldn’t get it since it is heavier than the regular m600s and is longer/bigger than a pgs. But it’s beautiful!!! Maybe someday they’ll come out with special m400s again! I was on a no buy for January but I since sold 3 pens and that was able to fund my very first 2024 fp purchase. I’m so excited to share with you guys this weekend?
@@KenchanKrafts Lao, please keep reminding me NOT to get that Pelikan! 😉I just about cannot stand how beautiful it is, and I really love the original artwork that inspired the barrel's design. I know I would not use the pen: I rarely ever use the Pelikans I have, and I just love my chocolate M800, but after 15 minutes, my arm just aches (physical reasons from way too many major surgeries and stays in the ICU. Even my most recent minor surgery, the third surgery on the joint of my left thumb to remove more arthritis, for example, has left me unable to bend that thumb at the joint or have any strength left in the thumb ~ sorry, more info than you wanted to know), so I know if I got it, it would sit unused, and that would be a waste of a beautiful pen! Ack!! Make lighter pens!! I'm glad you were able to work out a "justifiable" way to bypass your no-buy. I'm contemplating retiring this May, so my no-buy has more pressure than it would normally have, but I doubt I will be able to have much success with it until I do actually put my paperwork in 🙄.

I'm happy you nicknamed me Lao the Leo man XD You can call me Ken, too, that's basically my nickname. :) And yes....Aurora writes superbly compared to Leonardos. I only have one aurora because I am very particular about my colors of cracked ice and the chatoyance. If the Tropici comes into the Aurora 88 Secret Voyages of Italy collection....It's an instant buy. As for Scribo....lemme feel it first at the Chicago pen show haha! I'm so happy you watched through my whole video, sorry it was so long! I have too many lovely Italian and Japanese pens.
@@KenchanKrafts I have a couple of Auroras, but other than those, it just has not caught my fancy. I am not keen on the nib. Since I like my nibs super smooth, Aurora doesn't scratch that itch. The pens are beautiful though, but I can't get past it. Even with ballpoints I like a smooth writing experience. I enjoy collection videos and don't mind the long ones if I can get the chance to sit and watch it. OMGoodness, can you imagine how long mine would be if I did a video. I would really have to break it into parts LOL. Never apologize for long video with lovely content. :)

Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! Please update on your go to pens for those gorgeous shimmer inks! Did the twsbi broad nib work out or is it faltering like the medium? I want to use shimmer inks but don't have the breadth of experience of a large collection of pens... If I buy a M or stub nib for my kaweco sport will I get just as much clogging and frustration? Are one of the pens your Go To pen for shimmer inks?
Thank you, Riesemma! Welcome to my channel :) For shimmer inks, my go-to pens are always my very colorful Leonardo Momento Zero pens! They are steel nibs, so I don't have any fears of the shimmers ruining the nibs or feed and I can clean them pretty easily in the ultrasonic cleaner if I need to. The flow of the regular steel nibs+feed are so good from EF to Stub nibs. I strongly suggest only using well-behaving shimmers in EF and F, but most other shimmers will work very well with my Elastic F (which is like a Medium), M and up. Kaweco M and TWSBI Eco M's have also worked for me for shimmers. BENU M/B are also great for shimmers. Those are my go-tos for shimmers! :) Stubs are tricky as they're flat, so their tines don't allow for shimmer particles to go down unless the ink has very tiny shimmer particles (J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor is one of those with very tiny shimmer particles that behave well in my stubs). TWSBI Diamond 580 Broad is good for shimmers but M and everything below have not been great for me.
@@KenchanKrafts wow this is such invaluable insight! I bought a twsbi go in 1.1 stub anticipating some shimmer inks but good to know not all shimmer inks play well with stubs! So far the TWSBI go stub is showing beautiful pink shimmer over olive gray green in Dominant Industry Autumn Forest really beautifully (it must be one of those tiny shimmer size) and feels super juicy (or maybe it's the ink?) Somehow I get much more shimmer with Asian characters than with calligraphy... Thank you so much again for sharing! I wanna break free and go wild with shimmer and shading and try all the pens! I guess there are no stainless steel pilot falcon nibs... Kinda wonder if they would deposit ink to show off shimmer a certain way~

You mentioned a couple of times that shimmer inks clogged some of your pens. Have you tried running a brass shim through the tines when that happens so you don't have to push on the nib? (sorry for all the separate comments)

They have found some old bodies in the warehouse, but they are fitted with Jowo nibs, not Bock like before, and I am not a Jowo fan. I love the old Bock nibs. I have many Deltas, but sadly, don't see myself purchasing any new ones. I'd only guy NOS now.

I cannot find Any review of this pen model!!! Fountain pen Revolution doesn't zoom in its pictures and I wonder if it' worth to buy it. It's not about the views for me, while I do enjoy more views like the next person, lol. But my main goal is for my channel to be helpful and useful for people in the fountain pen community :D I do writing samples and comparisons to other pens with similar nib sizes in my reviews so my viewers can further be informed when buying a pen and which nib sizes to choose from - but I can only use what I have and hopefully that'll be a good start :D I'll try to have that video up in between my normal Sunday videos! I have also seen that Hero 100 pen on AliExpress pen. I almost pulled the trigger, too, because it's super gorgeous. It almost looks like a Cross pen, so if you can find a cross dupe on AliExpress or Amazon to try out first to see if you like it before spending 123 on the gold nib version :D Are you looking at the green or red version of the Hero 100?

Now that you mention the Platinum 3776 Laurel Green, I actually do have one! It’s a pen which my mother got for me on my birthday back in August of this year; mine has a broad nib, which writes finer than I expected.

Fair warning, Pilot is increasing all their pen prices in 2024 (probably because of the bad power of the yen in comparison to the euro and usd). But the grey market cost for the 823 should still be attainable someday. I remember you mentioning you have the Lamy 2000 and the Platinum century as your two gold nibs! I love gold nibs so much xD As for BENU, I really want the ZEN custom painted pen--I know painted pens aren't for most people, but that one is just so pretty/blingy, yet has such peaceful vibes! I hope you find the perfect benu for you!

Great collection. I have the Sailor PGS Shikiori jade with purple finals and it was love at first sight. I got mine from Japan when it was not available in the states. Probably paid too much but it was a grail pen for me and my first 21k nib. I also have the same pen roll...
Oh yes I love this pen roll so much!!! Mount Fuji is everything! I want an Aurora pen that has Mount Fuji engraved into the grip section lol. Since I love my Aurora. And yeah the spring rain pro gear slim was love at first sight! I definitely paid more than I needed to, but it’s ok! It is a favorite among my sailors! Thank you so much for watching!

Gorgeous collection. I’m just dipping my toe into fountain pens. I have the Sailor PGS in winter rain. It’s soooo pretty. I’m about to order my first Leonardo. I’m getting the momento zero in jade. I could decide between that or the ester room estie in sea glass…. But I think I’ve finally settled on the Leonardo. 😅
Ooo, how many months have you been collecting? :) This will be about my two year mark. The Sound of Rain series is so beautiful. It feels so good to complete a collection xD I ended up selling my Esterbrook. I prefer Leonardos more and those two brands have a lot of resins that overlap, such as the Sea glass and Jade - both quite similar, but both very beautiful. You will love your Leonardo :)
We do not have the same taste in pens, but think we can still be buddies. : ) Love my Jinhaos. The only Sailor I have is the Shikiori Yozakura. Do want a journaler nib. Tried to get that on the Estie Maui that I got at the SF Pen Show, but they were out.
I probably wouldn't collect Jinhaos, but I would like to try them out if I meet anybody with Jinhaos at pen meets!

Thank you! My Kilk Luna is definitely one of a kind in my collection! It writes pretty broad, wet, soft and smooth - and even has a lovely bouncy flex for a steel nib. A perfect pen for shimmers!

Thank you so much!!! The glauco cambon is so good for me since I enjoy a bit of a heftier pen. You definitely shouldn’t get it since it is heavier than the regular m600s and is longer/bigger than a pgs. But it’s beautiful!!! Maybe someday they’ll come out with special m400s again! I was on a no buy for January but I since sold 3 pens and that was able to fund my very first 2024 fp purchase. I’m so excited to share with you guys this weekend?
@@KenchanKrafts Lao, please keep reminding me NOT to get that Pelikan! 😉I just about cannot stand how beautiful it is, and I really love the original artwork that inspired the barrel's design. I know I would not use the pen: I rarely ever use the Pelikans I have, and I just love my chocolate M800, but after 15 minutes, my arm just aches (physical reasons from way too many major surgeries and stays in the ICU. Even my most recent minor surgery, the third surgery on the joint of my left thumb to remove more arthritis, for example, has left me unable to bend that thumb at the joint or have any strength left in the thumb ~ sorry, more info than you wanted to know), so I know if I got it, it would sit unused, and that would be a waste of a beautiful pen! Ack!! Make lighter pens!!
I'm glad you were able to work out a "justifiable" way to bypass your no-buy. I'm contemplating retiring this May, so my no-buy has more pressure than it would normally have, but I doubt I will be able to have much success with it until I do actually put my paperwork in 🙄.

Finally getting a chance to check out your awesome collection. these days I don't get the chance to watch as many videos as I used to. There are also so many video, I can just can't keep up anymore. I can't even remember now where and how you started. All I can remember was the Leonardos; Lao the Leonardo Man, even though I thought your name was Ken for the longest time, before you started mentioning your name in your videos. Wait did I hear that right? The Aurora beat your Leonardo nibs? I had to rewind..... Finally, now we need to get you into a SCRIBO.
I'm happy you nicknamed me Lao the Leo man XD You can call me Ken, too, that's basically my nickname. :) And yes....Aurora writes superbly compared to Leonardos. I only have one aurora because I am very particular about my colors of cracked ice and the chatoyance. If the Tropici comes into the Aurora 88 Secret Voyages of Italy collection....It's an instant buy. As for Scribo....lemme feel it first at the Chicago pen show haha! I'm so happy you watched through my whole video, sorry it was so long! I have too many lovely Italian and Japanese pens.
@@KenchanKrafts I have a couple of Auroras, but other than those, it just has not caught my fancy. I am not keen on the nib. Since I like my nibs super smooth, Aurora doesn't scratch that itch. The pens are beautiful though, but I can't get past it. Even with ballpoints I like a smooth writing experience.
I enjoy collection videos and don't mind the long ones if I can get the chance to sit and watch it. OMGoodness, can you imagine how long mine would be if I did a video. I would really have to break it into parts LOL. Never apologize for long video with lovely content. :)

Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! Please update on your go to pens for those gorgeous shimmer inks! Did the twsbi broad nib work out or is it faltering like the medium? I want to use shimmer inks but don't have the breadth of experience of a large collection of pens... If I buy a M or stub nib for my kaweco sport will I get just as much clogging and frustration? Are one of the pens your Go To pen for shimmer inks?
Thank you, Riesemma! Welcome to my channel :) For shimmer inks, my go-to pens are always my very colorful Leonardo Momento Zero pens! They are steel nibs, so I don't have any fears of the shimmers ruining the nibs or feed and I can clean them pretty easily in the ultrasonic cleaner if I need to. The flow of the regular steel nibs+feed are so good from EF to Stub nibs. I strongly suggest only using well-behaving shimmers in EF and F, but most other shimmers will work very well with my Elastic F (which is like a Medium), M and up. Kaweco M and TWSBI Eco M's have also worked for me for shimmers. BENU M/B are also great for shimmers. Those are my go-tos for shimmers! :) Stubs are tricky as they're flat, so their tines don't allow for shimmer particles to go down unless the ink has very tiny shimmer particles (J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor is one of those with very tiny shimmer particles that behave well in my stubs). TWSBI Diamond 580 Broad is good for shimmers but M and everything below have not been great for me.
@@KenchanKrafts wow this is such invaluable insight! I bought a twsbi go in 1.1 stub anticipating some shimmer inks but good to know not all shimmer inks play well with stubs! So far the TWSBI go stub is showing beautiful pink shimmer over olive gray green in Dominant Industry Autumn Forest really beautifully (it must be one of those tiny shimmer size) and feels super juicy (or maybe it's the ink?) Somehow I get much more shimmer with Asian characters than with calligraphy... Thank you so much again for sharing! I wanna break free and go wild with shimmer and shading and try all the pens! I guess there are no stainless steel pilot falcon nibs... Kinda wonder if they would deposit ink to show off shimmer a certain way~

You mentioned a couple of times that shimmer inks clogged some of your pens. Have you tried running a brass shim through the tines when that happens so you don't have to push on the nib? (sorry for all the separate comments)
I’ll need to invest in some brass shims! I know pushing on the nibs isn’t optimal, especially if it’s a stub nib!

I am not a fan of the new Delta. It is one of the same owners. They have found some old bodies in the warehouse, but they are fitted with Jowo nibs, not Bock like before, and I am not a Jowo fan. I love the old Bock nibs. I have many Deltas, but sadly, don't see myself purchasing any new ones. I'd only guy NOS now.

I cannot find Any review of this pen model!!! Fountain pen Revolution doesn't zoom in its pictures and I wonder if it' worth to buy it. It's not about the views for me, while I do enjoy more views like the next person, lol. But my main goal is for my channel to be helpful and useful for people in the fountain pen community :D I do writing samples and comparisons to other pens with similar nib sizes in my reviews so my viewers can further be informed when buying a pen and which nib sizes to choose from - but I can only use what I have and hopefully that'll be a good start :D I'll try to have that video up in between my normal Sunday videos!
I have also seen that Hero 100 pen on AliExpress pen. I almost pulled the trigger, too, because it's super gorgeous. It almost looks like a Cross pen, so if you can find a cross dupe on AliExpress or Amazon to try out first to see if you like it before spending 123 on the gold nib version :D Are you looking at the green or red version of the Hero 100?
