Welcome to my video on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD OFF-ROAD!
Since 1995, the Tacoma arrived to offer drivers a more off-road capable and powerful pickup than the Toyota Hilux. This American model comes in many different forms, but the TRD off-road speaks closest to its spirit. Capability. And strength!
And NOW, for 2024, the Tacoma is fully redesigned with a whole new frame, powertrain, and more technology options! As the owner of a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road, I will share my thoughts in comparison to the outgoing generation.
In this video we will extensively cover the big changes on the exterior style, interior space, and the drivetrain/drivability of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma.

Nice job on the video. I got my off road prmium about 1.5 months ago and love it! Came from a 2023 off road. The difference in the tansmission is night and day and safety sense 3 is also worlds better!

Awesome video. Glad you took a different approach instead of just reading off a spec sheet like many other videos. I really like the limited trim because I like chrome. I saw that it had an auto stop start button on it unfortunately

One drive in both... Picking up my Tundra this week
Very good video. Best in depth that i have seen for a car. I recently bought a 2015 4runner limited in blizzard pearl with 120,000 miles and love the thing. Looked at Tacoma and tundra as well. I personally don't care much for the digital dash and the large touchscreen. Guess I'm old school, first 2 cars being an 88 astro van and an 89 buick lesabre. I like analog and buttons to control things lol as far as off-road I swear on my old land rover discos I had although they'd break down before they finished. Dodge durango was my only other thing I took off-road and it just fell apart, got pulled out with an Oldsmobile bravado, sad times. This new taco is nice tho, buddy has an 08 and uses it on his farm and daily and still runs good with 280,000 miles. Hoping for my 4runner to last that long.

Brian, nice review. Can you speak on the rear dif? Do you get the locker with the TRD OR like the last Gen 3 has? Worth mentioning....Regarding the 8 speed trans. I saw a video mentioning that it is the same 8 speed that Toyota has being using in other vehicles. Forget the model of the trans but I had one in my wife's Camry and that was a super smooth unit. Flawless shifting. Point being while the engine is "new" the trans is a very proven design. It may make some buyers feel better.

Again another no non-sense review, to the point, informative, great video/camera work. It's a great looking truck, I too have a 21 3rd gen OR. Between the two models there's some give and take. When one's available at a dealer in my area I'll take one out for a test drive for sure.

Is there an ambient light? Thats one thing i love about the rams, and the 3rd get just has one above the charging pad
Not on this one. With the higher packages I believe it’s in there. I attached a link to the build info you can find out which grade and package will get it for you!
Great unbiased review. As the currently 2022 Toyota Tacoma owner. it just hard to upgrade to 2024 with such pricing ~45K and so many blank buttons, sliding rear windows optional, no power driver seat 😢

Is the manual seat adjustment with electronic lumbar support the default? According to the builder, TRD Off-Road has "Fabric-trimmed seats; 6-way manually adjustable driver and front passenger seats with 2-way manually adjustable lumbar support on driver's seat only" but this has an electronic lumbar, which isn't mentioned with that combination anywhere.
Correct this is the default unless upgraded
can we change the headlight or is it a big job
The bulb or assembly? Both appear pretty simple to do.

Doesn't the Trailhunter have an axle dump exhaust? Probably going to see a ton of people (myself included) doing that almost straight away.
Strange, have seen full black grills in videos for the TRD Off Road and grills with the Toyota logo not blacked out. Wonder why?
Typically the TRD is blacked out and other models have the silver

My 2015 f150 gets 19 city and 28 hwy! My 2.7 eccoboost twin turbo is fast but to get that mileage you need to go slow speed limits
This thing rides like a caddie. I have the 24' TRD OFF-ROAD with the remote back window, Also it has a dampen tailgate. I guess those aren't standard. Interesting 🤔....
The bed has the DC port on the driver side and Ac port on passenger side..

Anyone notice how dirty the inside lens of the headlight is? Why manufactures aren't rejecting these parts from suppliers, I don't know. I've also never opened my back window in my Gen 2 except to clean the glass.

If you park your 3rd gen Tacoma in your garage, the length will be the same but the 4th gen Tacoma is 4 inches wider. So if you park two cars in a two car garage, you’ll have to find room for the additional width.

Smaller gas tank 18.2 gals, vs 3rd gen at 21.1 gals…still NO gad hooded struts..note my 2001 Toyota Camry came with gas hood struts…SAD no gas struts, smaller gas tanks ..means more gas stations stops..
But my skiddles are at the gas station 🌈
That’s not extra thick paint on the bottom. That’s chip guard and it’s a pain in the ass to duplicate if you work in a body shop like I have for the last 30 years.

As an owner of a 2nd and 3rd gen, this is a huge downgrade and disapointment. RIP tacoma, you were loved.

I don’t think the new Tacoma has been out long enough to say it’s a disappointment. You may not like some features or the engine but until it’s been experienced I don’t think you can have a legitimate opinion of the new Tacoma. I’m not saying you’re wrong I’m saying you just don’t know if it’s a disappointment yet.
Cute truck but no good in that spare tire situation and the lower under carriage items. Hassle.

Back seat wayyyyy too small, will get tundra or stay in f150. The smaller trucks are so cute but too small
Too much tech for me. This truck is too gimmicky will have alot of problems later. Good review I do however like the style of this truck.

I thought your review was very honest , but to say moderately affordable I totally disagree this truck is completely overprised. To hear that particular truck is going for 40 -50K is ridiculously overpriced
