This was one video that i badly wanted you to make. I remember how helpful your TOEFL video was towards my performance in the test. Thank you Sybil Wang for making this video. I knew that you were planning for your GRE after spotting your comment on GRE prep in a video by Dahye Jung. Congratulations and all the best for your future endeavours.
Hey Sybil! Great video! Summarising it here: 162V | 162Q | 4.5 Hit Vocab every single day [Physical Fashcards or Magoosh App]. Consistency is key. Do a bunch of practice tests. (One every weekend) Resources: 2 official Verbal and Quant books 5lb for practice Kaplan 500 Flashcards Kaplan Book (6 Practice Tests, 5 being @ home ones)
Thanks Sybil for the recommendations on study material and schedule! I just recently started preparing for the GRE, I'm a senior at UT Austin studying psychology. I'm buying each of these study materials one by one since it cost a lot to get them all at once. At least for me. I hope I pass with high scores!
Here I am watching and starting my GRE review. I am finishing my graduate studies in Nursing and decided to go to the MBA route. I know people would go for GMAT although GRE is accepted in most schools. I'm targeting to get the GRE done early 2025 and then try the GMAT to see which one I score better. Thanks for this video. I'll come back to this comment when I am done with my exam. :)
Hey Sybil, when you were using the Manhattan Prep book approximately how many questions did you get right when you first attempted a section? I’ve been going through them and I’ve been getting +80% right my first attempt on most of the sections
Nice of you to take out time to make such helpful video. However, I seem not to agree with 'months and hours' as a way of measuring how well one has studied. There are fast learners and slow learners. There are people who are coming from scratch with little idea or previous exposure to what they are studying at the moment. I think the standard of measuring how well one has studied should be more about the amounts of materials covered and the number of practice tests taken and re-taken for mastery.
Hey! Awesome video. I recently graduated from the University of Missouri and will be applying to PA school soon. I am projected to take the GRE around August of 2025 and was wondering if all of the study book, materials and etc that you listed will be good for the 2025 test? I wasn't quite sure if they change the GRE test or if the books were outdated in any way!
The score depends on how strong one's foundation. A guy got 329 taking 6/m prep with work, another person got 320 in 2 months (Fully concentrated on GRE). Once you feel confident, just go for it. It not about a 3/m, 6/m or 1/y perp, GRE is about your in depth knowledge & understanding that you have built since your childhood.
I would love to know how you studied for the quant section, I think that would be very helpful considering the amount of material that is required to know on that section.
Hey thank you so much for making the video, it was very helpful. I just had a questions about the vocabs, you said that you learned 20 new words each day but how did you figure which words to learn?
Hey there, thanks for the video. Im taking the GRE 2 months from today and I wanted to ask if you can share the link to the deck of cards you used for your prep. Also, was the test you took the shorter version for the GRE?
Hi, i know you said the kaplan tests were similar to how you did on the real test, i bought the book and the online prep because of this video, but i was curious how close it actually was? did you find kaplan easier or harder than the real test thank you!
With the resources you mentioned in the video can we learn the mathematic, algebra, geometry and…??? If no could you please introduce some resources which with we can learn them from the very first??
hi. that's a good video. Thank You. I want to ask specifically. I am very afraid of Quantative Reasoning. Can I get a score like yours if my overall preparation is 6 months from zero studying the material to the test? does that make sense? Thank You
Curriently studying for my GRE test, I bought the books; the official guide to the GRE general test, and the books quantitative reasoning and verbal reasoning. In het video she mentions that you have to study your vocab, where in the books can you find the vocab to study?
Hello! I have a question for you. I am planning to get GRE test for master degree. I have to take only GRE General Test according to my university requirements. Which books would you prefer for Gre General preparation?
Did you cover all these Study Materials in those 2 months, or were you studying them prior to that? And, how did you manage so many study materials in that short time, I mean, were you able to cover all those books completely?
I have no idea about where to start my preparation now I am clear little bit thank you but even though I have doubt where to start Magoosh or Kaplan please clarify me
Hi Sybil! How did you do a practice test every week in the beginning? Wouldn't you only know the content that you have studied that week? Plus of the previous weeks if any? ie it wouldn't be all the content that us covered in the test right?
I think GRE is not a standardized test. I mean some people can be good at verbal without even trying and suck at quant and vice versa, while some lucky ones can be good at both. For example I scored 170 in the quant without problem or trying hard, but i sucked at verbal. I dedicated my whole 2months in verbal just to score 151😭
If I purchase the Kaplan book, will it provide direct links to the online practice tests? I’m having a hard time finding online tests that don’t cost a fortune. ☹️
I normally studied in the morning, but depending on my condition for the day I would change it up. If I felt too stressed one morning, I'd move my study time to the afternoon. Hope this helps!
May I ask about which version of the GRE did you pass? The 4 hours GRE test or the new one with only about 2 hours (the updated version after September 22).
