Brian could season all his meals with the salt that Olivia throws at him each game
And that's what makes them both so lovely to watch playing against each other :D
That what makes this one of the best commander gameplay shows on YT.
What like, because of realism ?
@@GarroshDidNothingWrong becuase they act like themselves and not like Game Knights, which has just turned into one big show for Wizards of the Coast :s
@@Dudesomeify insert Jordan meme: stop it, get some help!
21:06 "Yeah, what villain has ever stroked a fluffy pet before?" Spencer seems the usually quiet friend whose bulls-eye observational humor leaves the group in stitches.
Kibler is the living "I'm in danger" meme this entire game. My dude, blink twice if you're telling these stories as a defense mechanism.
Much as I really dig the casual atmosphere and flow of this, I have mad respect for Chris being clear about stack and timings and things like that. Also Spencer's got a gift for low key comedy.
His comment to Olivia of, “At least it solves the two cards in hand problem…” with the rift absolutely killed me..
@@Zofield9 it was SO GOOD.
He was great as the DM for Harmon quest
And to think Spencer only got his break because he played D&D and was in the audience of a podcast a decade ago...
Which is ironic you say that about Chris since he resolved his Apex Devastator incorrectly. It even says on the card you resolve each instance of cascade separately. Casting Rishkar's off top and resolving it first, as is supposed to happen, would've drastically changed how the next cascade effects would resolve.
Spencer didn't say a lot, but the words spoken were absolute GOLD.
As opposed to the other guy who had something to say about every fucking game action, yet somehow said nothing interesting or amusing at all.
I read your comment first and then watched the video and you are a hundred percent correct. The villainous animal petting line was so good.
Chris is great. You are smoking something else dude.@@andrewsparkes6275
yeah that sounds like the spencer i remember
This is the way of the Spencer
Brian is a good reminder to at least call our grandpa. They have so much to tell, just listen once in a while.
Back in my day, damage went on the stack!
Yea ok grandpa, you also casted tri color dragons with massive downside
@@commanderathome Great way at getting back at Olivia for her mismatched swamps last time!
@@commanderathome that's how I lost a tournament to a mirror universe.
@@monkeygaming2859 The plural of cast, is cast. Youngin
As someone who retells all my stories to my friends in front of my spouse Olivia's reaction gave me a "this is what I've been doing?" Moment which prompted me to get a package of cookies for them.
Spencer's "My crimes are as of yet unknown" may have been the underrated comment of the evening. I love the setting, and the atmosphere thank you for inviting us into your home.
Loved Chris attitude at the table, complimenting people for their turns and plays, makes me think that I should do that more often in order to bring a lighter mood at my own table !
Being kind and jovial never occurred to you? 🙃
@@blaze556922 It did haha
But complimenting the small things and putting the light on small actions, even the one's that are not impressive, may not be natural for most people ! :)
@@StoneSourFanBoy 👍you seem like a chill person. I'm sure people like playing with you. No sarcasm!
Agreed! And I think it's the least he could do when taking long, board stacking turns like he does :) Long turns like those tend to make my opponent's eyes roll to the back of their heads.
Be like Chris , don’t be like Olivia lol
Yes, in retrospect, I should have cast the World Breaker I returned to my hand on that last turn of mine. A reach blocker would have been very good against the Elspeth-jumping Tireless Tracker. Considering how much of the time I was monopolizing with green-deck game actions, though, I was trying to play at a fast clip rather than going for optimal play. For how complicated all that stuff got, I at least did a decent job of THAT. I'll get you next time, Gadget!
I adored your energy at the table! I hope you'll join them for another video at some point.
@@RasmusVJS Thank you! I appreciate that. Also, due to various comments, I'm learning- apparently I have been resolving multiple instances of Cascade wrong for YEARS.
@@ChrisMontgomeryCM Do you remember if you guys were ruling Olivia's Dryad to make all her lands work with Glove, or was it only her basic lands? Because the basics are the only ones that are supposed to, but it was unclear from the video which you did.
Hey, Chris! This is Derek from your old playgroup at Gameology. Just wanted to say that it was a great surprise to see you here. You were the player who helped shape me into the commander player I am now. I think of you as my mentor.
@@RasmusVJS We were only letting her basic lands tap for the extra mana! THAT is an interaction that I do know how to adjudicate.
I'm waiting for Brian to forget he's holding dogs instead of cards and start hand-shuffling Elspeth and Oko. Great game even if Spencer's lack of sleeves gave me anxiety. He's truly hilarious!
Me previously: There's such a glut of commander content. There's no room for another commander gameplay channel.
Me watching this: Man, I wish we had more of this awesome commander gameplay content!
Hearing Spencer's voice again brought all the awesome memories of Harmonquest flooding back. Loved that show.
Listen to his podcast then.
@@Davezilla26 link please
What show? That may sound silly but I'm unfamiliar with him
@@alfonsogonzalez4294 don’t have a link but it’s “that happens” podcast. Episode every week. Or his twitch where he games.
Spencer is delightful and I hope to see him back
Kibler babbling anecdotes at instant speed even during other players' turns is nearly as awesome as Olivia having been tired of those stories for too long :D
Awesome episode again! Keep up creating this great content! Love your videos!
Just gotta say, I love the side camera angle with the majestic Shiro portrait right in the center of the frame ❤
I really love how fun and real these games feel! Love watch friends play commander!
Nerds! what are you doing here!
@@famousstranger8468 watching fun commander gameplay!
This is the best commander show around. Thank you :)
I love to see Brian in a casual format like this, I remember watching him all the time on PT and loved it. He was my favorite to watch. This is probably my favorite thing right now.
Got to meet both Brian and Olivia at MagicCon Philadelphia. They were both incredibly friendly people for our brief interactions and posed for photos and signed cards for me. I’m really happy I was able to meet them.
Good to meet you too!
I almost went to that… was working that weekend. Super sad. Wish I could’ve been there
I've been dealing with health issues and am super duper stressed out. this brought some much, much needed smiles.
Brian is so proud of his accomplishments and I absolutely love that. It gives him so much joy to share and it doesn’t at all seem like he’s flexing. Just a happy guy who just seems like he can’t believe all the stuff he has done or gets to do. Can’t wait to watch more!
You can choose the same permanent multiple times with Druid of Purification, so Olivia could have chosen one of the already chosen ones, and then after all choices are made the effect resolves and all chosen permanents are destroyed.
yeah the permanents are chosen before anything is destroyed, and nothing forces them to choose different permanents.
I'm getting into the idea that Brian will slowly turn into an villain in this series. And all will come to an end when he finds a card in his deck that he hasn't played before.
Never, I'm clearly the hero of the story ;)
And that playing of the card will then become the story of that card.
@@commanderathome Every villain is the hero of their own story, so they say.
I was super stoked to see Spencer. I knew he played magic. Good to see him play.
Spencer is hilariously! Love his sense of humor! He reminds me a bit of Wheeler.
Hilarious
No need for the LY Hedge. :)
I don't watch the show it happened on anymore, but Olivia's "Arma-fucking-geddon?! Who are you?!" moment in the episode with Brian and Younger-Blonder-Brian remains one of the best commander show moments I've seen. Literally everyone hated Brian in that moment.
More commander at home with the glorious wholesome energy! Happy to see more episodes of this, keep up the amazing show! Really love how each episode so far has it's own character and energy and tabletop vibes depending on the guests it really shows how diverse the commander community is!~ More Shiro energy we have been blessed by doggo beans.
@55:05 I love this interaction with Oliva and Spencer! "No ones yet learned of my crimes" hahaha
This is even more wholesome than "I hate your deck" and I love it soooo much.
This is just fricking fun too see people playing Magic like I used to in my game-store.
The cascades from the apex was done wrong... Each cascade casts the card and resolves it before moving to the next cascade.
was looking for this exact comment, he should've resolved rishkar's expertise, then gone onto the second cascade trigger and resolved that spell, and so forth
My brain hurt watching that.
I've come to expect cascade to be done wrong at this point. I've yet to see a MTG youtube channel handle more than one cascade trigger correctly.
4 minutes into the game and all I can think is “god I wish all commander shows (Series? Channels?) were like this!” But that would ruin the magic that Olivia and Brian have been able to capture. This is my new favorite thing and look forward to every new episode. Never change.
So good to see Spencer here, he's an absolute legend. Love the channel guys.
I love Brian's stories, he has so many and while they aggravate Olivia to no end, I also giggle and laugh like Brian because it's so hilarious.
Brian having a stories deck is awesome. Olivia being fed up instantly is just relatable.
I've never been so excited for the fourth video on a channel before. Also the intro is such a perfect example of what magic with your friends should be.
It is a little weird but I first recognized Spencer from the episode of community where he played Annie's brother
Holy shit that IS him! 😁😁😁 First Garrett in Prof’s video now Anthony in CAH! 😂 thank you for confirming this for me!
No lie I thought he was too but I thanks for confirming it
No way I was just thinking about how he looked like Annie's brother 😂😂
Same
I totally love Brian's little stories along with the cards and the fact that he actually likes to share them. Most MTG pros I know are so introverted or cocky and you have to pull everything out of their nose, but not so with Brian. So plx go easy on him talking a lot Olivia, because it's actually an incredible cool trait of him and really cool content for long time fans. Love y'all and happy gaming! :)
Man, it’s crazy that this is over a year ago, it feels like yesterday. Spencer’s humour is still worth coming back for
Also this is my new favorite show to watch!!! It feels just like I’m playing with my friends at home, all the shenanigans, all the crap talk and laughs! Love it!
The more I get to see Kibler play, the more I love watching him play with all the laughter and fun - what a great power couple! Great fun and awesome games, maybe one day Olivia will let you tell the cool stories from times of lost past lol
This show is quickly becoming my favorite edh content. The whole match was super fun to see and I laughed the whole time. When Brian explained what his deck was I immediately thought of the game where he played armageddon and passed the turn. I laughed so hard at that situation and Olivia's response, and was a fan of them both from then on. Super happy to hear the call back to that match at the end of this one. The pain is still with Olivia 😂 Keep up the fantastic work, I really look forward to each episode!
Kibler is literally the living goat when it comes to magic. Olivia needs to let him embrace that by giving him room to talk about his legacy.
@@pascalsimioli6777 appologies Ma'am
Finally the 3rd episode!
Great content, chemistry of hosts and guests and stories.
Thank you so much for all the laughter and entertainment!
Already can't wait for the 4th episode.
Well i guess i have to watch the other episodes once again or more likely 4-5times again to tide me over the waiting times^^
I love the Brandon Sanderson/bag of chips story! He’s my favorite author and now I like this channel even more that you’ve played with him haha.
I don't want to be that guy, but when resolving apex devastator you have to resolve each cascade independently of one another. Rishkar's expertise should in fact have been the the first spell to resolve on a board with much smaller creatures at that point, also affecting what the rest of the cascades would have hit.
They're random cards in a random order anyway - weirdly the way we did it is how I've always seen Devastator resolved, so I guess I've always seen it done wrong.
@@commanderathome I guess Brian never dealt with the cascade mechanic much XD
@@commanderathome same
Was going to comment this as well. The fact that the first one was a draw spell means that entire turn would go really differently. But oh well.
I was thinking the same thing lol. Really bad cascade 😁
That was another fun episode! I loved all the eye-rolling and reactions to the ongoing bit of Kibler's pro-tour exploits. It's always great seeing all the chemistry between the guests/hosts you have on the show!
I swear Brian favorite hobby is to make Olivia mad XD
Fortunately it's easy to do...
He forcing her to forget those go shintai triggers to make shriney boys
Awesome to see this channel grow more and more 👌 I love the power level these games have portrayed, everything has felt relatable and absolutely scratches that commander itch!
Great video! Until next time! 🤘
Remember when Prof. Said "I'm sure it's good". Olivia: Thanks!
It really is a good channel and I enjoy Commander at home.
36:16 Haha, now we know why Brian is always holding their dog in these, it's so he pets the dog rather than flicking his cards constantly. 😂😂😂
When Bryan says “My pro tour deck” and Olivia looks at the camera I freaking lost it 😂😂😂
Brian is like that dad who reminisces about the good old days “back in my day when I was playing magic I used these cards”
Brilliant show, great atmosphere, keep 'em coming!
Happy to see another quality commander channel with fun and genuine people , you feel the home part more then one could admit .
The synchronized laugh @14:33 was perfect. Also love the Tronce shirt!!!
As always a fantastic show, it really feels like we the audience are invited in for a fun banter filled commander game. Great job as usual!
I looked away for two minutes and came back to this man who rebuilt his board after the third board wipe with no issue. Insane deck!
The production quality of the intro (and this show) never ceases to amaze me. It encompasses everything I think of when I think of "The Gathering." Love it.
No matter how many times I read Go-Shintai of Life's Origin, I always have to remind myself that it makes a Shrine token off itself when it comes into play as well
I'm loving this commander setting, and have for the previous two videos as well.
May the streak continue!
I could listen to Brian talk about his magic history all day. I have so many questions and would love to know more about his career. Love it. Favorite magic pro of all time.
I'm just saying, Brian was 100% in the right with his Tragic Arrogance. Both in his assessment of the card being underplayed and with the fact it was needed.
Absolutely love the intro and this series! So excited for more!
Love the setup, the energy and the custom life counter + logo on the cards is an awesome touch. Keep it up! Can't wait for the next one. 😊
Absolute delight of a game, I'm loving this series so far!
These commander matches appear to be so much fun. Thanks for the content.
3:00 That was very fair for Chris to do that. Love your content guys. Please keep this series going.
The guests are AWESOME! I unfortunately did not know them from other internet things but I’d love to see them again, please!
Also, maybe we get an extra video where Brian just talks about all the cards in his PT deck? We can hear cool stories and Brian can maintain his friendships
"Pet the dog, put the cards down" lol
Love the intro "we're keeping it!" Energy
Ever since he got called up on stage as a goof I have been a fan of Spencer, and now after watching this episode I can confidently say he is the pinnacle of game night good vibes. Also I just binged the first three eps of this and I am so glad Kibler decided to try commander, sorry he did for Olivia though.
Y'all, this is seriously one of, if not, the best commander play show. It is real commander.
Great game, a fair bit of back and forth while Chris made it very viewer friendly when he was popping off (quick yet clear). Amazing banter, think both the guests were great and I especially loved Spencers mellow fun style, he added a ton to the atmosphere/feel of the game without taking up much space which is a very impressive 'skill'/personality.
Amazing how that intro really gets you in the right mood
Can't get enough Commander on a real tabletop, will be watching every episode
Lovely and fun episode, as always! Good Job guys!!!
Love Spencer Crittenden, his style of humor is just delightful.
I appreciate y'all kept in some of the pre-game discussion with the Gilanra player (I didn't remember his name I'm sorry Spencer or Chris) deciding to cut his second commander for the table's power level. I think there being more examples of the sorts of discussions and things people do to tone their EDH decks for tables would be good!
"That's the whole point of the deck!" LOL!! Love it.
More! This is a great channel with great energy! The intro is even growing on me. I can't wait to see episode five!
Been having a time for over a year so I'd like to say thanks for bringing some enjoy with your videos
Great video as always, keep up the great work and great guests 👍
You guys make commander so much more fun than it already is
Always look forward to these videos since you started them.
Best magic show on UA-cam right here folks!
Love your intro.
Man, probably one of the best openings for mtg content right now!
Glad i found this show! Just getting into magic and watching seasoned players play is great!
Battle of the green decks! Absolutely love it!
Edit: omg, Spencer is hilarious! 😂
More top tier content 🙌 thank you for making my Wednesdays suck less. Best commander show out there ❤
Easily my newest favorite series. Thank you Olivia and Kyle Hill
This channel is awesome. The banter is hilarious and it's so casual. With this and Elder Dragon Hijinks, I am a happy viewer.
EDH with friends is the best. Olivia and Brian are hilarious and sweet together. You guys have had awesome guests every episode.
My mini poodle Molyloves sitting my (or my wife's) arms when we play. Dogs are the best.
So exciting to see Spencer!! Need to have him back ASAP!
This was a crazy game and all y’all have a great time. Love the banter and vibe. Catch y’all on the flippity !
I enjoyed this game, this was a lot of fun, and had a lot of laughs. Can't wait for the next episode 😊
Not really a huge commander fan but this content by far is the best! Kibler is the G.O.A.T.!
Amazing game. That green on green BRUTALITY! Ya love to see it.
Thanks for another great video you guys, absolutely love the atmosphere of this Channel and Olivia's energy is just undisputably delightful.
But I did notice a misplay:
When Chris played the Apex Devastator he didn't resolve it correctly - Each instance of cascade triggers and resolves separately. The spell you cast due to the first cascade ability will go on the stack on top of the second, third, and fourth cascade abilities. That spell will resolve before you exile cards for the second cascade ability. The spell you cast for the second will resolve before you exile cards for the third, and so on - so he would have drawn the spells he cascaded with the first cascade; Rishkar's Expertise, instead of cascading them.
Huh. You're right. I always thought the way they did it was right, and that was after I looked at the rulings when it first happened with me. Thank you!
@@joedoe7572 you're very welcome :)
I was excited to see Ben Brode in the thumbnail again, but realized it was Spencer - and was then even more excited. Great guests! #thathappens
I love your guests. These guys can really hold their own in this game. I wish people in this game could play and feel good about playing optimally and embrace their play style. And humble pro tour players are the kind of players I look up to. I love commander content and your production quality is primo. I want to see more of it. If you guys happen to read this I hope it's comes off as the constructive note that it's meant it to be. Keep the positivity flowing and I'll keep coming back and supporting ✌️❤️
Olivia's humor is so angry and IM. HERE. FOR. IT.
