Well, his bond with him was that of a best buddy overall, not at all anything but. And their fallout was political in nature, Rhade turned to protect his people from what they sensed was attempted genocide and betrayal, and his people ended up effective slaves of a dark spirit through their passions, the same evil entity the Magog appear to worship in fact appears to have been their master. Rhade's people's master, that is, through clever manipulation, maybe that's exactly what and why Telemachus began to believe in a deity, as hinted at in the show by his words; you don't tend to be able to perceive real and true evil without knowing that the original source of that malfunction set is totally charitable, but evil is a revolt against that. He was disgusted by his people's conduct overall, and makes it clear throughout the show whenever he addresses their conduct, in both genetic renditions of the same man.
